I went to For Eyes on 4/24/25 to buy a "bundle" namely a pair of glasses, yearly supply of contacts and an eye exam. Probably, the MORE you spend as a consumer the better customer service you expect. For Eyes on 4/24/25 did NOT "disappoint." My visit to For Eyes started out with Dr. Hussain who gave me pointers about how to reduce eye strain since I am pursuing Accounting at 62. Optician, Samantha, was cut from the same "cloth." Very knowledgeable about a concern of mine. The bridge of my nose is narrow verses the bridge of a "standard" pair of glasses. Concern is the glasses slide down, constantly! (referring to plastic frames NOT metal) NO PROBLEM for Samantha! She had that! We found a "pretty" blue frame that fit like a "glove." Oh, did not surprise me Dr. Hussain had "top" notch technology to lie up horizontal line of vision with max vision on lenses namely distance, computer and reading. Boy, I learned a lot! My friend, Samantha, could be a teacher, as well! That is the "personal" touch Dr. Hussain and Samantha AND staff Jelani and Tamra place on "OUR" visits to For Eyes!!!!! Tamra, let me tell YOU, is the hostess with the "mostest." She made me feel "VERY WARM." Jelani, was navigating the equipment used to check glaucoma and other conditions. The doctor was great, definitely worth a visit... But the quality of the frames leaves something to be desired. I had my new glasses only about 5 or 6 weeks and the frame broke. My old pair (from another store) has lasted over four years and still are in great shape. When I brought the glasses in they had me pick another frame style because they said that style was defective. So I picked a pair that I just kinda liked because I didn't see anything else. When the new replacement pair came in, I was really disappointed with how flimsy they feel and am concerned they won't hold up for long. Now keep in mind, these glasses weren't their least expensive and both cost around $179 each just for the frames. So for that price you'd expect a better quality frame. My advice is look at where the arm attaches and the overall quality before buying here (and not just the style). I will say this, I am surprised and give them credit for reaching out to me after I posted this. The manager was extremely polite and professional, offering for me to come in and look for a replacement pair I'd be happy with! read more

The following is just my experience and I felt very compelled due to the lackluster experience to write a review - you may have another experience... -- My glasses lens popped out of my only pair so I went in to this location replace the glasses with the same prescription which I currently had... Now, these glasses were old but I expressed many times to both the doctor and the receptionist that I wanted the same prescription just on a new frame - I don't my eyes getting worse from a stronger prescription. I was told that is not an issue. After a mandatory check up (why did I need one if they already have my prescription? Still doesn't make sense, but it is protocol - so no big deal), I was told that my glasses would arrive in roughly 10 days.. they did not. Again, not a huge deal at all. I come back to the location to officially pick up the new order and find out that it is the prescription which I explicitly expressed to the doctor made me dizzy due to it being too strong (during our "exam") - he even agreed IN THE CHECK UP that we wouldn't go that strong. Anyway, I tell them that this is wrong and that I want the prescription that I told them I wanted many times from the start and the receptionist tells me I need to have another check up... okay... I oblige, again, not a huge deal but I am getting a little impatient at this point - just as the doctor seems to be each time I am in his exam room. He seemed like he just wanted me in and out of his office asap... speeding through our "exam," talking over me, rushing my answers and clearly not listening due evident of the incorrect prescription. ^This is a large part for the 1 star review - it seems like the doctor doesn't even give a f... for his patients, just going through the motions. The second order comes in - which should be corrected right? Not really... Still too strong. I need my glasses, at this point it has been over a month of back and forth with this location, I just take them and decide to try them for a month. I have been using them for about a month now and my eyes have gotten significantly worse due to the over-strengthened prescription. I am beyond frustrated... Never in my life have I experienced such disregard for a patient's health by a doctor before. LASIK surgery to fix my vision is my next option. This is f#@ked. If you do come to this location, just make sure you are overly expressive about what you want and don't take the doctor's word for it when he continually nods in agreement or "understanding." My mom needed a new prescription eyeglasses and since my brother had a wonderful experience with this store, we came here instead. Boy was that WRONG!!! When we got there, there was a THICK ICE blanketed the parking lot. They didn't even bother putting some salt to melt the ice. When we got inside, there were 2 person, one was Dina whom i spoke over the phone prior and a guy. There were no other customers there. We waited several minutes. They were chatting and giggling on the counter. If i hadn't made a noise, the guy would not "welcome" us in. He talked to my mom about selections and price range. The cheapest one he offered was $149.00. OK.....We told him that my mom would not be needing a frame since the old one is still very good but he said that he won't be able to work with my mom's frame because it is "OLD". We left very mad because of the POOR CUSTOMER TREATMENT we got there and pricey tag. We also noticed that the familiar faces who have helped my brother before were no longer there. Could be a new management???? We went to Walmart on Golf Road and they had a Rollback on one of the eye glasses frame....$25.00 from the original $68.00 price. I made an appointment a couple of days in advance because they only have 1 optometrist working there. I was given a basic vision test, he took his time and made sure I felt comfortable with my vision. The glasses aren't too pricey, but I had my own frame and they replaced the lenses w/o trying to sell me anything extra. My friend swears by their price for contacts. This is a cheaper alternative to Pearle Vision or Lenscrafters. read more

I made an appointment for a routine eye exam and they were able to schedule me with only a few days notice. The exam was $49 or $44 if you have a Blue Cross insurance card. I arrived a few minutes early and Michelle had me fill out some forms. Afterward, she administered a pre-exam before seeing Dr. Hussain. The exam was thorough and quick at the same time. I decided to create a yelp account just so I could write about my experience here. I came in the afternoon on a weekday and there were a few customers and one eye doctor in. I was a.bit skeptical at first, but after talking to the staff before my appointment I found that they are all very friendly and easy to get along with. I was given routine exam procedures and asked basic question by the receptionist. I was really delighted when I was called into the office. I seen multitudes of degrees and certificates hanging on the walls and the doctor was very nice and listened to what concerns I had and what contacts and glasses I had in the past. She was very friendly during the visit and nicely answered any questions I had. The best part was that she went out of her way to spend extra time on me to match me perfectly with the right contacts. I wound up walking out with contacts that have me better than 20/20 vision. After the exam, I went to pay for contacts and they have decent deals at a fairly decent.price. It worked out well for me besides insurance payed for most of it. I walked out only paying around 50 dollars for 3 months worth of contacts, a contacts exam, and a glasses exam. Over all I had a very good experience and I would highly recommend this location to first time customers, or someone looking to get a closer prescription. read more

I am updating my review. Dr Hussain , oh wow. #1, he's chatty, like really really chatty. If you like your eye docs chatty, he's your man. #2 I had problems with my perscription after I got my glasses. I couldn't see clearly out of them. I have an astigmatism and the correction wasn't strong enough I think but I"m not the expert. Also I had trouble seeing clearly far away in both eyes. SO I go back and ask him to correct the lenses. At the refraction appointment, he said it's the same number as last time, but then wrote down .1 instead of .75 like it was last time (i checked both scrips) and we went round and round with the order because they filled the second pair at the old scrip instead of the new one...which he wrote down on the paper but verbally said it was the old number...OMG it was so confusing and the new glasses STILL weren't right. The staff was no help. They said they would remake them again but they would still be the same because the numbers won't change..blah blah. The glasses still aren't right and I'm never going back there again for all the trouble it was. read more

I started going to For Eyes on Dempster long ago, and kept going back for new glasses and prescription sunglasses over and over. I really liked the place, until now. I bought a pair of frameless glasses (not inexpensive). One of the lens popped out starting from week 1 - I wore my old glasses until I had time to go back. I've gone back there 4 times and they'd just pop it back in. This time I asked them to get them fixed for good, and the manager said it's been a year now & I didn't buy the protection plan so they couldn't do anything about it. I said the glasses were never right from the beginning - each time they told me that it should work. If I had known I would have told them a year ago I want a new pair or fixed for good and would have been more persistent. Very poor customer satisfaction for a long time customer. I was in need of a new pair of eye glasses, but didn't have any eye insurance. I know that glasses can get ridiculously expensive, so I decided to buy the groupon. I paid $35 for the groupon, which was for $200 towards any designer frame and toughlite lens package. My previous eye glass prescription was expired, so I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hussain. He was so nice, and did a very thorough job during my eye exam. Afterwards, I was helped by Francis. She was very pleasant and quick while helping me with my frames and lenses. I was told that my glasses would be ready for pick up within 7-10 business days, but got a call 3 days after! I picked up my new glasses and they were perfect! Very Happy!!! I have gone to many different eye places including Lens Crafters. All assured me that they could make my progressives fit the best...blah blah blah. After spending way to much money I had horrible results. I decided to try For Eyes in Niles. Wow, big difference. They had a great sale so I spent half of what I spent at Lens Crafter. Dr Hussain made sure that my prescription was right. He took his time with making sure each level was right for me. Adam was the nice guy who assisted me, He was amazing, as he picked out my frames immediately, and they turned out to be the ones I liked the best !! Well this is an optical place on the Niles/Morton Grove border. My wife went there for an appointment and they were very efficient. But what makes this place a nice location for me is the fact that you can get sunglasses with your vision insurance benefits for a really nice price. The only reason we go here is for Dr. Hussain. He is excellent - thorough, knowledgeable, and just a very good doctor. He has always gone above and beyond for every member of our family, and he is the reason why we continue to come back. The only detraction is the staff. I find them to be unprofessional. I went to the Niles location got the eye exam then proceeded to choose frames and get fitted. The woman was sneezing blowing mose claimed it was allegories, she was annoyed by my questions and my taking time to make sure I was purchasing a style frame that looked good. The next day boom major eye infection! Pucjed up glasses they were fine untill 8 months later when the color on the frames was fading badly! I go in and was told I had to have the same frame and I was lucky they were still under warranty. She said she would call around to see which location has them still. She also said she would call me to let me know. Well 3 days later I'm the one calling and was told they ordered frames and would call when in. Once again 2 weeks later I'm calling. I go in to get my lenses in the replacement frame. I waited my turn and the man there was quick but pushed me aside for a new customer purchase when I asked for an adjustment on the frame. Now the bottom of the lense constantly pops out of the bottom of the frame. Customer service/customer care is not what you get they also woll up sell you into unnecessary add ons if you give them the chance. Adding up to 200 or mire to what you thought wss going to be a deal. The eye exams are just basic and where most prescriptions are good for 2 yrs. They write them to expire in 1yr. read more

I decided to try For Eyes for my recent eye exam/new frames and lens. I have a couple of friends that have been using For Eyes since the 80's, and wouldn't go anywhere else, so that influenced my decision. The Optometrist, Kamran Hussain, is a young guy, but very professional and personable. He took his time and gave me the most comprehensive eye exam I've ever had. The manager, Mark Ioffe, took care of me in the selection of frames and lens (Progessive Transition lens). He pulled at least a dozen frames he thought I might like, and I chose a pair of Izod frames. The only downside (a minor one for me), is that they have their own lab, in Florida, that does all the work. I ordered the frames and lenses on Saturday, and they called on Wednesday to say they had my new glasses. Pretty quick turn around. Prices, overall, are very competitive, and as they accept EyeMed, saved about 50% off retail price. Highly recommended. read more
