They and the other staff members are professional, pleasant, thorough, and informative. Just when I thought I was up to date on eye health and care, I learned a couple new things from Dr Lowe at my appointment yesterday that I'd never heard before, and once again I walked away with a smile on my face. Even sitting in the waiting room is fun - yesterday one of the display cases was filled with miniature vintage fire cars and trucks. My wait there wasn't more than a couple minutes, but that gave me just enough time to check them out!

I was able to call and ask if they have an availability for an appointment and they checked and they said they can get me in the same day... never mind, It was a day where lots of snow was falling and probably appointments were canceled.. But after two, regular eye doctor appointments with two different optometrist (Dr. Mila Petkovic) I found each of them to be kind and super patient, and really capable of providing great service, and telling me more about how my vision might change as I get older: bifocals. Figured to make a review as I noticed no current ones shown. And I got my eclipse glasses too!

I wish they had taken time to explain that if I want both contacts and glasses I would need to pay the additional fee for the second prescription. If she was going to order them then why not charge me then. Save your time and money. RUN RUN RUN

That said, the follow-up required several visits, which felt a bit drawn out. In hindsight, I probably would have benefited from seeing an ophthalmologist sooner--someone who specializes in that type of condition. The clinic does seem busy, especially on the medical side, which usually speaks to its reputation. While I didn't personally see an ophthalmologist here, there was clearly steady demand for their services. One downside: the pricing on glasses felt high, similar to what you'd see at larger chain retailers. It's worth comparing prices elsewhere before making a purchase. For perspective, I later visited University Ophthalmology Associates (UOA) on Old Orchard Rd in Skokie for cataract care, and had a very positive experience there. Overall, this clinic is a convenient option and I'd consider coming back, particularly for general eye care. Just keep in mind--if you're dealing with something more complex, it may be worth exploring specialist care early and checking pricing before committing.

I know there are a couple optometrists here but there could be more. The woman who helped me (whose name I cannot recall, and yes I feel like a jerk) was thorough and suggested that I try a slightly reduced prescription from what I had. She explained that this would help keep my eyes healthy longer, as over-correcting can lead the lens to focus more than necessary and that could wear out the eye's capacity to focus, and potentially requiring readers or bifocals earlier. (I think I have all that right....) Anyway the point is that I really appreciated her explaining it all, rather than simply overcorrecting as apparently at least one other doctor has done. And the contacts that she suggested fit well and my sight is perfectly clear--in fact, perhaps more comfortably clear than my prior ones--so all in all I'm really glad I came to Boyce, and barring any issues will return next year around this time. The office is super tiny, so there's not a lot of space to sit and wait for your appointment. They also don't have a huge selection of frames, but it's worth looking around if you're here getting a prescription for specs. The parking lot is funky but there are spots directly in front of the office as well as on the west side of the building.

We visited Edgebrook Vision Center for eye exams for both my children, ages 10 and 14. My 10yo has…read morereading glasses so we wanted to tweak his prescription before school started while my 14yo doesn't have glasses and we wanted to get her eyes checked. Dr. Sulakhe was incredibly kind and patient with my children, really putting them at ease in the exam room and checking their eyes thoroughly. She needed to dilate my son's eyes, which with other doctors has been very painful and difficult, so my son was scared, but Dr. Sulakhe was the best we have ever experienced! She was calm, which made my son calm, and gently put in drops. My son told me later it didn't burn and he wasn't at all scared - a huge win for us! He only wants Dr. Sulakhe as his doctor from now on! My 14yo doesn't need glasses yet, but we were happy that Dr. Sulakhe checked her out. We ordered glasses for my son from there, and the optician on staff was so helpful in finding glasses that fit my son's face perfectly! She understood exactly what my son wanted and suggested frames that he loved! The price was very reasonable, even with the blue light filter and anti-glare. I paid less than I would for similar glasses at Walmart. We even changed out the lenses in his old pair so that he has a spare when he misplaces his glasses. Another plus is that Dr. Sulakhe takes most insurance plans, so with a small copay and the reasonable price for glasses, we got a wonderful experience and didn't break the bank!
