If you are seeking unparalleled quality of care, look no further. My family and I have been patients of the optometrist and opticians at Linton for over 25 years - longer than I can remember. The reason is simple: Their professionalism and commitment to service are outstanding. During the pandemic added safety measures were provided, and we were safely served. Today was typical - an accident left me with a broken eyeglasses frame and no spare pair. Within an hour the Lintons had me up and running again with a temporary replacement frame that accommodated my old lenses. (They would not accept payment.) I have been going to Linton Opticians for many years. I have always found the brothers, who ARE Linton, courteous and helpful. They have helped my find the correct frames; they take great care in adjusting the frames to my face and ensuring that they are comfortable and sit well. Also, while checking my frames, they noticed that I was having a problem I shouldn't be having and sent me to a retinologist - I found that I had a particular issue that needed attention - which I wouldn't have realized had it not been for them. During the COVID crisis they are open by appointment to protect not only themselves but also their customers, which, as a customer, I greatly appreciate. I hope they are here forever! (And the complaint about the 5 year old who was disruptive - the mother should teach him to behave properly - I have three children and many grandchildren and none of them would have behaved in such a manner; I would always bring books or toys to keep him/her occupied! They have a good selection of glasses, but they are incredibly rude and condescending to customers. There are much better optometrists with newer equipment and a more pleasant attitude. I finally ditched them in favor of Wilmette Eye Care and I cannot be happier with my choice! read more

After going to various chains (or places that were bought out by chains) we went back to Lintons. Service was excellent, people are both knowledgeable and courteous, excellent selection & fitting. And they are a family business. One can't easily avoid Amazon for certain things, but one certainly can avoid Warby Parker and get a good comfortable pair of glasses, coupled with exceptional service at Lintons. read more

This place is the absolute worst. If you are looking for pediatric glasses, or just don't want to give your money to a bunch of (insert exploitive here) guys, shop elsewhere. I was hoping to avoid driving into the city to go to aardvark where we previously bought my 5 year old son's glasses because we recently moved to Evanston and this seemed much easier, but I just had the most rude, obnoxious experience here and now understand why people make the trek to aardvark for pediatric eyewear. We were told we had to leave and come back without my three year old as he was being a typical toddler (wanted to try on glasses like his brother, started to cry because he misses his dad, wouldn't sit still, etc). When I said that I won't have the opportunity to do come without him and that I preferred to just to finish up the co-owner just got up, told us to leave and went to the back and hid like a baby. I get that kids are annoying, but if you don't want kids in your store then don't offer childrens glasses! No apology from the other co-owner who saw the whole thing and who I stopped because I was so appalled by what just took place after his brother ran to the back. And, the guy then had the audacity to tell me to just come back... which is insane to think that I'd spend my money there after being treated so rudely. read more

Engages in discriminatory behavior based on consumer choice. Refused me service earlier today. Would have given zero stars, but that is not an option. I called here earlier today to inquire whether or not I could have my glasses adjusted. I told the man who spoke to me that my glasses had been purchased elsewhere, and he said to come in at my convenience and he would adjust them. When I arrived at Linton, the man working at the front desk agreed to adjust my glasses for $20, which is already a rather ludicrous price for a service normally offered for free. After he took my glasses in the back, he returned to tell me that he could not adjust my glasses because I purchased them from Warby Parker. Despite the fact he previously told me he would adjust my glasses, was prepared to charge me for the service, and already had my glasses in hand, he refused service to me. I took time out of my day to come into Linton and I was refused service based on the brand of my glasses. I am shocked and appalled by this treatment and I will not be returning. I would not advise purchasing anything here, unless you want to support businesses that condone this sort of customer service. read more

It has always been difficult for me to find affordable, high quality glasses that fit my face. (For my last two pairs, I had to resort to children's glasses to fit) Until now, shopping for glasses has been torture for me! I did a great deal of research and wasn't particularly excited about traveling to Evanston but came away with everything I wanted and more! They have a suprisingly large selection of glasses to fit every taste, need, gender etc. After explaining my dilemma and desired results, I was given several choices from a 'petite-women's' line that allowed me to to find glasses that fit with a feminine look. I can honestly say, I have NEVER tried on so many pairs of glasses that fit! On top of the great selection, the service was top-notch! They were patient, professional and educational. I only needed to explain what I was looking for and (Rob) gave me an array of choices. He very quickly picked up on my tastes and gave me objective feedback on my favorites. It was nice to be heard and supported in a decision that effects my look for at least two years! You won't be taken to the cleaners or manipulated in any way. Though I really wanted to get new frames, they informed me that a more cost-saving approach of reusing the frames was an option. Overall, I can't say enough about this group! I purchased two pairs of glasses for less than one pair of bifocals three years ago! My glasses were ready in two business days (a great benefit of their on-site practice...no waiting for weeks for your glasses to 'come in'). Professional, quick, friendly, affordable, with a great selection....what more could you want? P.S. Well worth the drive! read more

I am basing this review on the boor customer service at the front desk, not on Dr. Randall, who I had no problems with. I switched to daily contact lenses after my appointment, upon the recommendation of Dr. Randall. When I ordered the lenses from the front desk, it took around 3 weeks for the lenses to come in. Until that, she supplied me with trial contact lenses. She also gave me different brands of trial lenses so I could decide which brand I iked better. The lenses I ordered ran out a bit earlier than expected several months later, and i needed a trial pair to last me one more day until the lenses I ordered arrived. The person at the front desk was very rude, saying that he "knows who I am" and that I requested too many pairs of trials before (even though it was the Dr. who requested that I be given trails while I was waiting for the lenses to be ordered). He then proceeded to hang up on me when I was very calm and polite on the phone. I was treated as if I was trying to rip them off, when I was just a customer who needed help. Needless to say, I will not be coming here again after this service. read more

We have gotten multiple pairs of glasses (regular & sun) here. They have much more (trendy) variety than I expected them to have--better than Spex. And the staff are kind and helpful. They also have a little kids corner which helped with my not-so-patient baby. Great products, great service. read more

I love Linton! They're so polite, great service and quality. I had a contact emergency, (it does happen!) I ripped my last pair of contacts, my eye dr. is moving locations and couldn't send over my Rx, as they are still moving over records to the new office. I called Linton, said I had my contacts box, with the Rx information on it, they said bring it over, they go to the contact warehouse every morning (is it like Raiders of the Lost Ark!?!) and I had new contacts the next day. He also gave me a pair of trail contacts, of the bran I ordered (not my usual brand) and said try these out (no charge) and if I don't like them, bring back the unopened box and he'll refund the cost or put them towards another brand. So I basically got a free pair of contacts for a month; plus a 6 month supply in the box ($47.99) I will continue to go to Linton, as long as I need eyewear. read more

Really unprofessional staff. I went in after optometrist at another place gave me a new Rx. I asked if they sold my brand, as they are rimless and the templates for specific lens shapes are proprietary to that brand. Sales guy tried to fudge by saying they carry my brand (which they don't) but not the rimless ones, but that they cd still order them. Turns out he was really saying they would trace my lenses and try to copy the shape. No thank you. I then looked at every frame in the store to see if I cd find a new style. After all that, I asked if the guy would be willing to validate my parking. He said no bc he thought I might still be under the 15 minute free time limit. When I explained that I had also seen a doctor in the building, he got visibly angry and said "I'm not paying for your doctor appointment." I politely told him that I was not trying to cheat anyone, and that I only even thought to ask because the last time I was in (a couple years ago) under the exact same situation after a doctor appointment, the Linton employee was the one who volunteered to validate my parking, despite me telling him that I'd also seen a doc in the building that day. So then instead of calming down and apologizing for his attitude, instead this guy doubles down by saying, "Right is right!" and then ducking down behind the counter to prohibit any further interaction. I didn't mind paying my $4 parking, what I minded was being blindsided by this guy's nastiness, and the shady attempt to sell me lenses that were not the correct type. Considering that this place also has a pretty unfashionable selection of frames, it's hard to see how they stay in business with such unprofessional customer service. read more

I love this business! I have gotten my glasses here since I was a child and have always been treated with warmth and respect. These men are professionals and can handle any eyewear issue. They have helped me out multiple times in emergency situations. I love their selection of frames as well as the care of getting the perfect fit that goes with them. I wear glasses almost 24/7 and consider great frames a good piece of jewelry. I went way out of my way to stop in this place to see their selection of frames. What a waste of time - and money! $4 to park for 15 minutes? Because they didn't have the specific frames I was looking for, instead of making some suggestions and showing us what they had, the staff chose to totally ignore my friend and I - both glasses-wearing adult women who were both shopping for new frames. When frames are an average of $300-400 you presume customer service would be a priority - not here. read more

Modern, high-end selection with old-fashioned (polite, attentive, knowledgeable) service. Had previously gone to a modern, high-end selection place that apparently had employed shady used-car salespeople (no offense to NON-shady salespeople). I'd definitely suggest an appointment if you're selecting new glasses, but I've gone in a few times w/o appts to have my glasses adjusted and haven't waited long. It's a little weird, but they don't acknowledge customers entering if they are with other customers. I guess they think it's better service to pay attention solely to the current customer. So, don't worry. You'll get good attention when it's your turn. I happily drive from Chicago to Evanston to go there, and the parking is totally hassle-free and money-free (they validate for you). read more

Amazing service and selection! I bought new glasses in December and the process could not have been easier, and I am thrilled with how they fit and look. I went for an eye exam in February and got new contacts. They provided me with trials before settling on the right pair. They are very professional and helpful. Paid for lenses into my own frames. Two attempts at prescription - with final lenses great! But, after they were finished, I found that the staff were "put out" to size the frames to my face since I did not purchase the frames at the store. I returned 3 times to finally get a correct fit since staff were unwilling to provide me with the attention necessary to make them work. I expect that if I spend over $500 on lenses that Linton staff should take the time to also fit the frames correctly or communicate that they do not provide that service prior to taking my order for lenses. I have REALLY bad vision, "legally blind". I have been using Linton for 35+ years. In all that time, I only had one prescription which didn't work well, and they re-did it twice for free. I also tried polarized sunglasses recently for the first time, and didn't like them. They redid the sunglasses w/out the polarization, for free. The people there are really helpful. They don't rush you at all. I have a narrow face, and am VERY particular about my glasses style, and they will run rings around the store making sure I find something I really like. (They have to run the rings twice, since I also always get prescription sunglasses!) I recently moved to a rural area in Michigan, and I was SO worried about what to do. Fortunately, my prescription has stopped changing much. So, when the coating on my 2 year old glasses began to wear out, and come off, I called Linton's. They were able to order my current frames with my prescription and sent them to me in Michigan via UPS. I did not realize how badly the wearing off of the coating had been affecting my vision until I put on the new glasses. I am REALLY happy they were able to do that for me. Linton's is a full service optician and does a GREAT job with prescriptions that are difficult and/or strong. Your chain stores will NEVER make your glasses as precisely as Linton's. And you will not find better service anywhere. For the woman who whined about the expensive parking, they validate, even if you buy nothing. For the woman who whined about getting glasses adjusted, they do them for free for anyone. I can't imagine who she might have talked to, or even if she was in this optician store. Linton Opticians is, hands down, the absolute best place I've ever gone for glasses and contact lenses. I wouldn't go anywhere else. They care about what they do, their prices seem fair, and I think they have a wonderful selection of frames.....from very practical to very high style. They clearly care about their clientele and always work with me until things are right. Their optometrist, Dr. Randall, is terrific. I have worked with her on contact lenses and she has the ultimate patience to hang in until we find contact lenses that work for me, despite my astigmatism, dry eye, farsightedness, and focusing problems! I really like Dr. Randall. She knows a lot about eyes and fitting lenses. I would totally give her 5 stars for her knowledge and professionalism and for being super patient with me. However this review is for the whole office which includes the front desk glasses section. The guys located in the glasses section have been very kind and welcoming. My reason for the two star review comes from what I have been consistently experiencing with this office as a whole. Every time I go in to order my contacts, it takes more than 2-3 weeks (sometimes 4!) when I am usually told it will be in a week or two at most. Also when I am there, I often have to wait a while to actually talk to someone at the desk. If they actually just hired a front desk person to deal with pick ups, transactions and appointments, they wouldn't have this problem. Also, Dr. Randall is only in two days a week which makes it super difficult to make follow up appointments! All of these issues I have experienced leads me to believe that they are spread too thin and cannot organize themselves enough to deal with everything. I've been really wanting to buy glasses from here but knowing all of these organizational issues with these guys, it's best to go else where otherwise it will probably take you half a day and many more weeks until you get your glasses. read more

Do not be fooled by Dr. Randall's friendly personality. She is unorganized and always late and you will pay a price. I was fitted with ill fitting contact lenses. She proceeded to order new ones but they took weeks to come in. The new lenses continued to be defective and because of the long order time between swapping them out she would not return the final pair even though I could not see!!!! I went to Dr. Gelb on Devon in Chicago who in two days time fit me for perfect new lenses and a glasses prescription. Great frames and lenses in two days!!! D. Randall always had an excuse why the contacts didn't work I went back and fourth several times to her office. I am now stuck with contacts and have to pay for them evebn though I cannot see out of them! She could never fit my contacts properly and in two days I got a Dr. to fix what she could not do in 6 months!!! Do not use this Dr.!!! Regarding the other review about the man at the front desk he is moody and they are all terribly unorganized.Horrible experience will never ever go back!!! Go see Dr. Gelb!!! read more
