Fast forward to March 2021 and I needed to purchase a birthday cake for a friend. Darla's is closed Sunday and Monday. And of course I thought to order the cake Monday for a Wednesday celebration. But not to worry! If you find yourself in the same situation send her a message on her website, frostedbydarla.com. I submitted an online contact message and Darla called within two hours of hitting send;) Darla and I talked roughly 10-15 minutes. She gave me some great suggestions and I went with a 10 inch chocolate cake with buttercream chocolate frosting. I thought I needed a 10 inch because I was serving 13 people. Her cakes are four inches thick so I could have went with an eight inch lol. I let her know I needed to pick up the cake Wednesday at 5:45 PM as I needed to arrive at the venue at 6:30. I was able to pay for the cake over the phone and received a text message receipt. When I picked up the cake Wednesday it was sitting on a little table in front of the counter. I liked the contactless pick up process! Now to the cake. It was a huge hit with the birthday boy and everyone that tasted it! All my friends wanted to know where I purchased this marvellous cake. The cake was oh so moist and the icing was epic. Sweet but not over the top rich. Perfection;))))) Not to mention the icing detail made it look like a piece of art. But this time, I decided to give The Happy Cake Shop a try because who doesn't love a sweet treat? Let me just say I'm so glad I did! It's such a cute little shop with a great variety of cupcake flavors to choose from. Mr. OJ was incredibly welcoming and took the time to give me a quick rundown of the shop and the flavors they had available that day. I ended up grabbing a few because I couldn't make up my mind lol. I tried the Chocolate Strawberry, Coconut, Red Velvet, Banana Pudding, and Strawberry cupcakes. Every single cupcake was moist, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Each flavor tasted exactly the way you'd hope it would and nothing was overly sweet. Let's just say as soon as I got those cupcakes back to the house, they were gone within 20 minutes . Really a charming place. The interior is vibrant and colored in bright pastels with really elegant, but simple, lighting. It smells great inside as well, like lavender and flowers. Really nicely done design. The service matches. They were excited for us to stop in, welcomed others that seemed to be regulars (we will be as well), and were just a pleasure to be around. I chose the carrot cake. I love carrot cake, whenever I stop by BBs, Biscotti's or European Street Cafe, I'll order carrot cake. It's pretty solid at all three places. The carrot cake I had today, is immensely better than any I've had prior. The cake was so moist. The flavors blended together perfectly, the icing so silky and rich. It was next truly next level and I can't wait to try other cake. Everything I've sampled here is very good. This carrot cake was immaculate. As I walked to pick up my ordered items, the storefront for Deloozeycakes caught my eye. The doors were closed and locked but I saw a couple of people inside who assured me that they were open. The store was bright with neon lights and it looked inviting and very clean. Desserts such as cupcakes, cake slices, cookies and mini sweet potato pies were lined up neatly along the counter, and the temperature regulated case up front had salted caramel, red velvet, and french vanilla cheesecakes; banana pudding; and strawberry yum yum cake. Red velvet is one of my favorite flavors and that's usually my "go to" cupcake when I try a new place. But, that red velvet cheesecake was calling my name! I got a slice of that and then I couldn't resist getting a piece of the honeybun cake. After taking one bite of each cake, it was clear to me that they know how to make incredible cake! The red velvet cheesecake had a light and soft layer of cheesecake nestled between two moist pieces of red velvet cake that boasted a beautiful cocoa flavor.
