The front staff lacks friendliness and professionalism. I have been in twice now and felt not welcomed. Also, felt a bit as if I was inconveniencing them when I couldn't take the first appointment that was offered. First impressions are a big deal when you're walking into a new business that you haven't been to before... the vet was nice but saw us briefly. She was friendly and listened. Then another staff member who came in after that, I not yet had met, with an invoice of over $400 maybe $435. I am a lucky puppy adopter. From what I understood the first visit was free and they didn't charge for the "visit" but tried to squeeze every nickel and dime out of me thereafter. I opted just to get the necessary vaccines and not everything else that they tried to push on me. I figured I could take care of flea and tick treatments elsewhere and for cheaper. Not even sure what the rest of it was that I made them take off. I left feeling like I being taken advantage of and only there to see what they could charge me for. I understand having a dog is an expense which I'm totally prepared to pay for. But in my past experience at other vet offices, I've never been charged such a high amount. I thought checking out another vet would be a nice change since I've been to the other one for over 20 years. But I'm saddened to say I wasn't happy with service. I would recommend "For Pet's Sake" to anyone! My cat had a burnt and infected paw pad, and I didn't feel comfortable waiting 5 days to get him into his regular vet or any local vet. Luckily, "For Pet's Sake" squeezed him into their already busy day as a drop in and got him feeling better! They were easy to get in touch with for any additional questions as well. My cat had a mass, they charged $285 for the biopsy to be sent out to a radiologist. However, they didn't get enough cells to determine if her mass was malignant. They wanted to sedate her again for another biopsy and discuss surgery, but I couldn't get another appointment right away. In the meantime, she took a turn for the worse. On the day of the appointment, I asked if I could drop her off when they opened rather than wait until the afternoon because she felt warm and wasn't eating. She sat in her carrier with an infection and high fever and wasn't seen until minutes before they closed, which was past her appt. time and informed me that they weren't qualified for this type of surgery. At that point, they wanted to keep her overnight so the vet could check on her first thing in the morning. I reluctantly agreed. However, when I picked her up the next day and asked to speak to the vet, I was told she wasn't in yet. They discharged my cat with a bag of medicine, no biopsy, no explanation, and no one to answer questions. About $1500 and two weeks later, my three year old cat was laid to rest due to complications of mammary cancer. I will say that at no point was any of the staff rude, but they did not do anything to help my cat or treat her with the urgency she deserved. They discarded her and charged me a small fortune. read more

We have been there quite a bit with much more negative experiences than positive. Staff lacks compassion and experience. I have only once seen the actual dr. and I liked her a lot BUT Twice I had rent a drs ( lol they were not actual staff). The first was fine but the Asian dude had no desire to treat puppies. He discussed cats! His only concern was to get my one year old dogs fixed. It was odd, to say the least. I got bad information and it presented problems, big problems! The team here has been my right arm with providing the best care in this area. Dr Haring is amazing and so are all the techs and the front desk. Not only are they extremely caring but they are honest. They have been there for me and my cat with his EOL care fluid treatments and when my animals have been sick they will not turn you away. Overdosed (yes it was confirmed through another vet) our 6 year old dog James and said things happen with old age. He was a 6 year old chihuahua. They live to see over 20 years old. And then proceeded to tell us they couldn't do anything without him being sedated because he was so vicious even though he had a muzzle on the entire time. read more

We spent close to $300 to never see the vet, Dr. Haring! They are misleading and don't know/seem to care about professionalism. The vet refuses to see patients, and does everything behind the doors. When you ask to speak to the vet, the people at the front refuse to do so. They pretend to be a low cost clinic, but they end up being costing the same as other vets in the area, except with poor service. I scheduled an exam to be done to see if our stray cat needed to be spayed, were told we would speak to the vet either before/after, but we never go to see vet. The vet should have known that from the left ear that it was already spayed, and they unnecessarily opened up the cat again. I spoke to other vets in the area, and they were shocked they she did the surgery unnecessarily anyways. This could have been avoided if the vet had taken the time to speak to us, the owners, but their policy is not to do that. Our cat then developed some problems after the surgery, and they wanted to charge again for a follow-up. Unprofessional, and not recommended. Very disappointed in this place and won't be coming again. Also, after looking at reviews from elsewhere, it seems that this vet, Dr. Haring, has had similar problems in the past. read more

Got a price over the phone for $114 for a grooming so brought my cat in T 10 am .I called them after 2 pm because didn't hear anything and said they were busy .heard back from them around 4:30 and they said it would be $235 i told her I got quoted $114 and told her the prices he told me and she said that wasn't the right prices so I was like whatever he's been there all day so just do it .well first of all when I brought him in she asked if I wanted the lion cut I said no because I hate that cut to just do a even cut .so they call me at 7:30 pm saying my cat is ready so he hasn't eaten or drank anything in over 12 hours .I get there and its dark in there and my cat is in a carrier so can't really see him but I get him home and open up the carrier and he has a lion cut.i left a review on there site and they responded back that I requested the lion cut.i definitely did not because I hate that cut and they are just trying to make it look out to be me when I've never in my life left a bad review about a place but this one.do not bring your pets there and if you leave a bad review they will make it look like its all you when its the people that works there faults read more

This is a sad excuse for a Vet center. Their office must be busy responding to all of the bad publicity they have received recently, including giving a cat to a different family when they have a family of their own. Also, not giving people their money back when services were not rendered. Please also refer to the Glens Falls Business Bureau for more reviews. There is a behavior pattern for sure. My first impression of the place was that it smelled like cat urine. But,hey, things happen that are out of their control. The decor was cute and simple. The staff was courteous, not mean, but not overly friendly. Bottom line I would never do business with them again. There are much better places to go! read more

We brought our puppy there with an infection and they did nothing but play with her and charge us $150 for nothing. We never saw the same vet, if we ever even got to speak to one. We got a call saying both our dogs were due for distemper and Lyme and they're not due for another 7 months because they just want us to come in so they can get money from us. Every charge was crazy over priced. The "exam" they did on both my dogs was just petting them, they didn't check teeth, joints, or for anything. This place came up in my search for LOW COST spay/neuter programs... They did not charge me what they quoted me, the vet tech was LOST, new, and not orienteded. The receptionist was very disorganized, and scatter brained through the whole 2 visits I had here. I never actually MET the Vet. Guess she didn't think it was necessary. I was told there was an extra fee for fluids cause my cat was older. (Not in heat, never pregnant) and then they tried to tack on another 30 dollar fee they planned to "discuss with me when I arrived" I actually paid over $400 dollars for 2 cats' spay. My regular vet would have been much cheaper. Shame on them for advertising as a low cost spay! DO NOT RECOMMEND read more

IF YOU HAVE PET RATS DO NOT COME HERE! Dr. Haring claims to be 'experienced' with rats, however this 'experience' is limited to her pets at home. She may be a good vet when it comes to normal pets, but exotic animals require special training that she simply lacks. We went to see her 2 times, once for mites and once for a check up - both times with generally healthy rats. Both times she looked them over and prescribed the same thing - eye drops and antibiotics. The second time we went for a check up she said our rat was perfectly healthy (which she was, she was just had a tiny bit of poriphyn build up), yet the vet prescribed antibiotics and eyedrops anyway (maybe this is her go-to medicine for everything?). I decided to try out the antibiotics the next day, as the poriphyn had increased (this could have been aftermath of the stress of going to the vet). I gave her a single dose of one of the antibiotics, and a couple hours later noticed that she had become lethargic. I cuddled and tried to care for her all night, and on our way to the hospital in the morning she died. MY PERFECTLY HEALTHY RAT DIED from the prescribed medicine. We went to see a different vet to determine the cause of death, and he was surprised that the dosage of the antibiotic cocktail wasn't printed on the bag. We went to complain to the people at For Pets Sake, and they didn't really know what to say, but offered a refund in exchange for the medicine they gave us (go figure). There was no way to test the syringe for the exact dosage cocktail and make sure they didn't overdose it by accident - so we can't really hold them accountable for that. They are sticking to calling it an allergic reaction - again, no way to tell, but I researched common allergic reactions in rats and came up with nothing regarding these antibiotics. Either way, we were not informed of the potential side effects of the drugs prescribed, or the actions to take if the side effects actually occured. I get it, mistakes happen - but seriously, don't risk it. Take your rats to a specialized vet who actually knows what they're doing. read more

Would not recommend this Vet center! My husband and I do a lot of business at vets, we have a Homestead and rescue animals. We had a bunny neutered in November, not a huge deal, we had to pay in advance. We needed another bunny neutered, this time they charged us another 10.00. Again, not a huge deal but the price increased in that week. We dropped our rabbit off, my husband called to check. The tech said the surgery went great and that he was resting and we could pick him up in a few hours. An hour later another tech called and said there is a complication and the surgery would cost another 40-250 dollars. My husband and I decided that we would not put him through the pain and take the money and build him his own hutch away from the girl bunnies. When asked for a refund they would not give it to us. They stated that he needed an exam. We never saw them give him an exam, we paid in advance for a surgery they promised they could do. They did not complete their part of the contract, yet took our money. In the big picture 40 dollars isn't a huge deal, however, the fact that our animal was a dollar sign is sad and upsetting. Over this 40.00, this clinic has lost the business of our 4 four rescued dogs and 5 rabbits! After being upset, the manager contacted us the next day,they said it was a complication with the billing office and they needed to charge us for something or it would mess up their money for grants. This is in addition to the response from the vet or business owner . I dropped the bunny off at 930 I called at 330 to see how he was doing. I was told his surgery went fine I know this because I told the lady who I talked to how I was not to worried because you did another one of my bunnies and it turned out fine. At no time-was I up set about your staff being rude or incompetent they are all very nice! What I am up set about is you( the owner/ person in charge)I view you as a crook someone who is looking at the bottom like only! I payed for a service they was not rendered you then decided to take my money after not doing the task I hired you to do. When I called the next day I assumed it was your office manager due to the fact she told me she was speaking to me on your behalf . I don't know why all the time I was either there or called you would not speak to me your self but had people who now you claim are not able to have those conversations talk to me. One thing that is very upsetting as well to me is the privacy of my pets medical history. I did state publicly that my pet was there to be neutered that is my right but I did not want it publicly stated what went medically wrong with my pet that is something I hold private. This to me shows that not only are you a crook but you have a problem with discretion and your ethics. Never will I come into your place of business again. Absolutely love this place. Dr. Haring is very kind. I had another vet the last time I was there and she was incredibly caring as well (I'm sorry that her name escapes me). I bring my 3 cats here and they love the staff. The staff does everything they can to make sure that your animals are comfortable, and they are very understanding about payments. Everything is expected to get paid at the time of service, but before any procedure is done or before you're given any kind of script, one of the staff members will come in the room with papers showing you EXACTLY what you're getting and the prices of each individual thing. They will work with you and let you pick and choose what you want at the time, and then they come back with your new estimate. I've never gotten an attitude about making changes or felt like I was hassling them and that is greatly appreciated. A lot of practices don't understand that you may have gotten your animals when you had more income, and now that times are harder, you cant just rid of your animals, but still want to do everything you can to maintain their health services. I have never felt judged or embarrassed about coming back or asking to delay shots or other services due to not having the money that week. The secretary/vet tech, Tabitha, even told me where to apply for a credit card specifically for veterinary purposes, and that was a huge help! I care about my animals more than anything in the world and it means so much to find a practice that cares about my cats as much as I do. They even print out papers explaining what your animals are diagnosed with, and include preventative measures you can take. They do house calls, and have an online pharmacy so you can get scripts and other things autoshipped to your home. I have been there 3 times in the last two months and they are helping me get my babies back into perfect health! I appreciate this practice so much and every single person employed deeply loves animals. read more

Pablo had been defecating outside of the litter box in random areas. He would diligently use it for urinating and the occasional defecation. He was not and is not acting out. On November 19, 2015 I took 6.5 year old Pablo to "For Pet's Sake Veterinary" for a checkup and hopefully a diagnosis. After sedation, a rabies shot, medicated food, Miralax pills & deworming medicine, and a "complementary claw trim" of course, I was charged $256.73. They sent Pablo and I on our way with a "clean bill of health." Unfortunately, the problem still existed. About a month after our visit and a significant amount of research, I decided to get a second opinion. The second vet, who will remain anonymous, but we'll call him Mr. Vet, found a plethora of issues. The issues could be found with a PROPER and THOROUGH EXAMINATION, not blood tests, which For Pet's Sake wanted to do, but I opted out of due to cost. Mr. Vet found a bad case of ear mites, an abyss on the tooth, anal gland issues, an infected claw, and very high glucose. Why believe Mr. Vet? Well, he showed me the evidence of all these issues. He also spoke to me directly and in person, ON A SUNDAY at no additional cost. Not once did I see the vet at "For Pet's Sake Veterinary." Pablo and I, along with other family members, had to endure the stress of these issues for a lot longer than we needed to due to the lack of professionalism and knowledge at "For Pet's Sake Veterinary." The doctor and her staff are lazy and greedy. To tell me that he was healthy, when all of these issues could be seen at first glance by a professional is ridiculous and unacceptable. read more
