My feet were in so much pain and I had to readjust the laces so many times to help with the pressure pain. In addition the pair I had were stained brown and tattered. Half of the party purchased tickets online and the other half intended to purchase in person. I did not like that it was mandatory to make an account before ticket purchase was allowed. The whole ordeal was such an unclear mess. When arriving at the counter, a ticket was requested for public skate N ring. The employee asked if we had an account with them and then proceeded to request us to scan the QR code after replying no. Didn't say we could pay after complete so I tried navigating the site for some time and failing to find the location to purchase a ticket. I requested for help after then informed only an account creation was needed then I could pay. This took so much time and the time slot available for public skating was only for 1.25 hrs. Because the time slot was so short the ice was never smoothed out. Some pros: skates of all sizes are available. Wide skates are available with hockey skates but doesn't have front brake ridges. There are plenty of restroom stalls and buckets around the ice for newbies to grasp onto. There's a food court if needed (limited options and no outside food allowed). Plenty of parking and handicap accessible. If I had to come back, I'd bring my own skates. read more

Great facility!! Two sheets of ice, pro-shop and a concession stand that has beer and serves your typical 'bar' food items to include pizza. The staff is friendly, the locker rooms are spacious and the ice is great. Played hockey here and the benches, boards and glass are all in great shape. One of the better facilities I have been able to play on in my life and I've played hockey for 30+ years to include a few places in Europe while stationed there for 6 years. read more

I recently signed up for Adult Learn to Skate classes as a super beginner. Because I was so new to skating Laura did an amazing job not only giving me tips but encouraging me every step of the way. 2 classes later, I'm now steady enough to join the classes where students are learning different techniques! The change was largely due to all of the small tips and tricks (like lacing shoes and getting my own nicer skates) but also Laura's encouragement to push myself. I can't wait to see how much I improve after 6 more weeks of this class! Love this place!! read more

Made the drive from Nolensville to check out this location for ice skating. We came at 3:30 for the free skate that closed at 5:15. The rink was extremely busy, and by the time we filled out the waivers, got to the front of the line, and paid, the rink had reached its 400 person limit. The manager was very nice and gave us 8 free admission passes (we were a group of 4). We came back the next day for the 11:15 free skate and we were able to use the admission passes and the receipt for the skate rental to get in without paying again. I could tell that they cared about my experience and wanted me to come back at a better time. + I would visit this location again! + I would recommend bringing your own skates to get through the line faster, and they would be more comfortable. + Only 2/4 of the waiver iPads were working, I hope management finds a solution for this. read more

3.5/5 Great location for classes and open ice skating!! This review is strictly for the open ice for the public. I've been a couple times and Ford Ice Center is a great and fun place to go on a date, fun with the family, or so solo time. They have an iPad waiver release form (easy to miss and a bit confusing) when you first walk in and the you go pay and rent your skates. Admission is around $7 and skates around $3. Overall, $10. But you can bring your own skates and save. The ice is a hit or miss as I've had times where they don't smooth it after half the open skate and it tends to get very busy on the ice, so the ice gets rough. Food and drink prices are comparable for any similar space. They also have a pro shop at the front with a great selection of items. read more

The ice rink can take a little getting used to your first time through as noted by the prior reviews referencing releases on the iPads. I'm at the rink 3-4 days a week and I feel very at home there now. Front desk folks, for me, have always been friendly but too often aren't able to answer questions about skating or hockey programs and have to refer out to others who aren't there for help. I've had good success getting email/phone responses with one exception. The pro shop folks have been top notch. Their prices are fair and they are very attentive and helpful. The Scott Hamilton skating coaches are really really good! They spend a lot of time personalizing coaching. I'm about to start my 5 iteration with them and I couldn't be happier with the quality of instruction. The concessions are surprisingly good quality. The food is great and the beer selection is above expectations for a recreational sports venue. My only fault of FIC is the hockey instruction. This appears to be if lesser rigor than the Scott Hamilton side of FIC. I think it is run by the Predators. The instruction isn't broken down by development level leaving the higher skilled players under challenged and the lesser skilled players under water too deep. Please consider a curriculum approach to developing hockey skills similar to the Learn to Skate program. read more

So I got the crazy idea to learn to ice skate over the summer. After researching my admittedly limited options, I decided to try the facilities out at Ford Ice Center. While they offer numerous programs including Freestyle skate, open hockey, stick time, and hockey classes, I have primarily been to classes through the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy and to public skates. First off, the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy is awesome. They offer a wide range of classes with a great selection of times. I have done Adult 1 and Adult 2 Learn to Skate classes on Saturdays and Thursdays respectively. The classes are challenging while being a lot of fun, and the coaches are great. I've also lost two pant sizes since starting my skating journey, so there's that. I'd give the SHSA 5/5 stars. Public skates can be a mixed bag. I see a lot of negative reviews and honestly my experience has been anywhere to 2/5 to 5/5 depending on the day of the week and the time of day, but most days it is a 4/5. Some days it is too crowded and/or the ice is too choppy to skate on (rare-the ice is almost always in good shape, but I have had a time or two where it was trashed for public skate). I've also had a time or two where the ice was freshly resurfaced and I was the only skater on it (also rare, and a little eerie if I'm honest). The main constants are that the facility and locker rooms are clean, the facility itself is very nice and they have a public skate session at least once every day (though the schedule is subject to change, so you may want to call ahead). So here are my tips SHSA: Take skating classes during the week if possible. It is way less crowded and you get a little extra time on the ice. The SHSA also offers a lot of swag including free public skate sessions, shirts, and events with the local NHL hockey team as well. They also offer wonderful programs for kids and kids with special needs. Public Skates: The best times for public skates are weekdays when school is in. I only went a couple of times when school was out and it was pretty much a zoo. Also buy your own skates if you can. The rentals are atrocious and the skates will pay for themselves if you skate often enough. You may want to check the ice to see if it seems crowded before paying, though it is not uncommon for people to come and go during the session, changing the number of people on the ice frequently. Finally, if you want to save money and time, take advantage of their many package options and bundles. You can see what is available and sign up on their website. Happy Skating! read more

SUPER CLEAN facility!!! Awesome fun for the Skating and Hockey fans! Not my first time here, but this is my first "check in" and review on YELP for this establishment. I felt the need to add my opinion after reading others reviews reflecting such negativity. 1st) Staff is extremely friendly and willing to help with any questions or guidance. This place is truly for everyone from a beginner novice to professional and the prices are VERY good! Even the internal Hockey Store has decent prices!! Actually lower prices than Dick's Sporting Goods Store, (At least for Hockey equipment! Must Check it out.) Because they facilitate parties, etc, their hours for public events can change. So I'd call ahead of time to ensure things like "open skate" and "stick and puck" are still a GO for your preferred time. Here's my rebuttals to previous reviews I've read. "Digital Waiver Tablets" Yes, indeed the waiver tablets are a pain! But that's most likely a software issue, not a STAFF ISSUE. These folks are always willing to help out whenever you simply ASK. "Security with a gun". Oh my.. I'm glad there is armed security!! Personally, I'd prefer everyone in this facility be armed to assist, in thwarting off anyone willing to do harm to our kids! read more

Friend just wanted to skate and feel happy after a rough few months. She called ahead, was told she could come skate after filling out wavers, she shows up and is literally laughed out by the employees who supposedly just told her that public skating was currently available. She went through the whole process until the last step only to be laughed at like she's the idiot. Completely unprofessional and just plain f***ing rude. Now they are refusing to answer our calls and take responsibility for their rude actions. She was just starting to pick skating up again as a hobby so nice going losing a great customer a**h*les. read more

We came here once for a birthday party, and another time for quality family time. My daughters had a blast! I'll start off with the not-so-great part: the waivers. On our first visit (the birthday party), we didn't fill out a waiver. On our second visit, we stood in a long line to pay...only to find out that we couldn't pay until we filled out waivers. So, my husband and I quickly filled them out for us and our daughters...then stood again in the long line. All the while, I am scanning the lobby area for a sign or something that tells us to fill out a waiver. Something like that would've have been a lot more convenient and less time-consuming! After getting skates on and getting on the ice, I saw that there were stacks of buckets that kids could use as "trainers." As awesome as I thought that was, it took me forever to actually get some buckets for my 4-year old who had never ice skated. I watched teenagers and adults skate by with tall stacks of the buckets up to their necks...skating just fine, by the way. I asked an employee if we could get some extra buckets, and he just said that we have to wait until someone finishes. I tried to get my daughter to skate by just holding on to my hand or the wall, but she was not happy with either. We watched the buckets being used as toys by some folks, and not being monitored so that people who actually needed them had to keep waiting. Eventually, we got ONE bucket from a parent who was able to get 2 for his daughter. He was nice enough to share even though one bucket was not tall enough for either of our kids. Other than the bucket debacle, our kids had a good time. read more

I give it three stars for now. The men's league needs to get their act together. They can't seem to figure out how to schedule 10 teams into the 5 time slots available. Some teams have multiple games in the 11pm slot while others might only have 1. Once the schedule is posted, if a game time is changed there is no notification to the teams, that their game time changed. They are relying on the players/captains to check the schedule daily to check for changes. The scheduling system at Centennial alerts all players on a team roster if any change is made. I find it odd that Centennial has figured this out yet Ford Ice can't. The concession stand, when open, is nice. I say when open, as there is no telling when they are going to be open at night. As a men's league player, we were told the concession stand would be open as long as there are games. This has not held true. Often, we get done with a game at 10pm or later, only to find the concessions are closed and if we wanted to get a pitcher of beer, or order some wings(which are fantastic by the way) we are just SOL. If they can get their heads around the scheduling of the men's league games and get the concession stand to stay open for all men's league games(as we were told) I would bump up my rating. The rink is always clean and staff has always been nice as well. The pro shop is on point and open all the time which is nice, and they do a good job at sharpening skates quickly. read more

Sometimes i bring my CCM hockey skates and skate here on Saturday afternoons. I always enjoy skating there. The only bad thing i see is when little kids mostly who play hockey think they control the rink run in front of me skating and I end up tripping over them risking me and them to get hurt but overall it is such a nice facility. -I recommend bringing Ur own skates u get through a lot faster in the line. read more

Not a good first experience.. First, lines are disorganized, no instruction about waivers etc. Second, skates are in horrible condition, no padding, not sharpened. Third, ice was miserable, carved up, doesn't look like they have smoothed them out in days.. I'll never come back, centennial sports plex significantly better and more accommodating. 4th, completely over crowded, people are knocking each other down, they need limits on the amount of people they put on the ice. The only reason they got 2 stars is because the facility itself is very nice. read more

Had my daughters birthday party here and she has a blast! The party was great although hectic due to tournaments going on and delaying the process a bit but once it got going it was great. They have two rinks. The price isn't bad and they have a concession stand too. This place is huge. They have workers skating the ice helping those who are really struggling to get up or get off the ice. They play music and sometimes they turn the lights off and have laser lights going. Its cold in there (51 degrees) but when you are on the ice its even colder, be prepared to walk out with red cheeks and nose. The training walker type things they have for kids to learn with were not available at the time we were there. We were told they were on back order. But all in all it was great. Kids cant wait to go back! read more

I play adult hockey and part of the enjoyment is the hanging out with everyone after and having a couple beers. The worst is coming out after your game and concession is closed. Jennifer has been great. She stays open, cuts up with everyone and helps keep things enjoyable. This is very much appreciated! Especially because we use this as a stress relief to the daily grind. Took a party of 5, 3 adults and 2 children, to the public skate on a rainy Friday afternoon. Service was friendly and efficient; and we had a very nice time. The rink monitor gave the kids tips on how to skate. I had taken my phone out to take pictures, and the rink monitor kindly advised me that it was not permitted while I was skating but suggested some alternatives to snapping some memorable pics. We enjoyed concessions after skating. Again, service was friendly and the quality was standard. We would definitely go again. read more

So we walk in for adult open hockey and first thing we see is the "security guard" dropping the honorable puck at center Ice and after he makes his on ice debut we then realize that this man has a gun, the most unqualified man to have a gun. He then claims that we cannot get on the ice because too many people are in the building and I quote "no hockey for u too many persons." This skate session should be based on skill some of these guys skating could not even stop. I saw multiple dads straight up run into the boards. I could have been out there with rollerblades and no stick and still managed to get a hat trick because the goalies would ever so often just leave the net have a little chit chat at center ice with the other goalies. read more

A group of some of my co-workers and myself all came to skate together a few days ago. It was an overall GREAT experience. We had a blast. However, there was a lady at the front desk who checked us and then ended up being the one to take our skates back afterwards. She was very rude to us. Not only did she give us an attitude because one of the skates was stuck on someone's foot, but she was making unpleasant facial expressions as well. I get the stress part, but when working in such a well-known, public place, a better attitude would be great. Great spot for an outing anyways! read more
