I've been coming here almost every day for the past week, and honestly, I've been really impressed…read more My roommate has a family pass, so while the kids are having fun at the indoor pool and going down the waterslide (which they love because it has music and lights), I've been spending my time in the fitness center. One thing I really like is that the gym overlooks the pool, so if I ever wanted to work out while keeping an eye on the kids, I easily could. The gym itself is on the smaller side, but don't let that fool you. It has everything I've needed, the equipment is in great shape, and I've never had an issue finding an open machine. I've gone at different times of the day, and even when it's a little busier, I still don't have to wait long for equipment. I actually prefer this over the bigger gyms. It's a more relaxed environment, and I never feel intimidated or like I'm being judged. It's also kept really clean, there's always someone around if you have a question, and I appreciate the little things like the cubbies for your belongings and the scale to track your progress. They also offer a variety of fitness classes, and while I haven't taken one yet, I already have the schedule hanging on my refrigerator because I definitely plan to. Whether you're looking for a place to work out, take the kids swimming, or do both at the same time, this is a great spot. I'm really glad I found it.

Lifetime is an incredible gym. Yes, premium priced, but you get a lot for your money. We've been…read moremembers for almost 2 years and have loved it. The child center is fantastic. They are so great with the kids and it frees me up to lift, play pickleball, or participate in a class. They will watch your child for up to 2.5 hours which should be more than enough time for a workout and shower. Additionally, kids can participate in fun activities like rock climbing, ballet, hip hop dancing, and martial arts while you work out. The thing that really drove home the value for me was the parents night out. Every week they will watch your children for 3 hours on Friday or Saturday night. On the pickleball front, it's hard to beat having 6 indoor courts, which are relatively easy to book - all at a cost of membership that is comparable to pickleball clubs.

I have been a member of Lifetime Fitness for over 20 years (based at the Plano and Allen…read morefacilities) For a place that calls itself an "Athletic Country Club" with the continually increasing prices to match, this place does not live up to the moniker. In particular, as a customer of the Allen Spa I have never understood why the spa did not have it's own bathroom facility. Massages, facials, and hair appointments frequently take a while. It is reasonable that someone would want to use the restroom before, during or after a service. The idea that you have to walk across the entire facility to the locker rooms for their 5 aged and sad looking stalls in the ladies locker room seemed ridiculous and potentially embarrassing. So the "brilliant" answer was using the much closer "family" bathroom in the "family" locker room. That was workable, but certainly not a great answer. And now they have decided that Spa clients are no longer allowed to use the "family" bathroom. I do not know the real reasons why, but I assume it has something to do with not being a "family." Locked out! So we are now fully expected to trek our foiled, caped and oily bodies across the very large and very public facility to those previously mentioned locker rooms. I know of no country club that would expect its members to parade around in such a manner, nor inconvenience their hard working stylists and therapists with a bathroom so very far away. I really wish the Lifetime would fix this situation. It makes visiting the Spa stressful rather than Zenlike and peaceful....which is how a spa should feel.

The biggest reason for our switch was availability and the fact that it is simply a month-to-month commitment. Another big plus is that if my child exceeds the expectations of a particular level they can be moved up during the month, they aren't stuck for a season. The facilities are large and very clean. I really enjoy the large viewing space the parents have to choose from - either pool side or in the air conditioning behind the wall-to-wall glass. The plentiful changing rooms are a bonus as are the showers. The staff has always been very welcoming and kind to myself and our kids and are quick to greet new families. There have been a handful of occasions where they've had fun activities for non-swimming siblings to partake in while lessons are going to the swimming sibling. I really appreciate the child-to-swim coach ratio and how organized the entire operation is. My only hesitation to give five stars is the availability of classes before 5pm. The earliest lessons available M-F are at 3:30pm and lessons are every 30minutes after that (4pm, 4:30pm, etc). Once your child moves up to a certain skill level available times get later, like 5pm or after. Our son moved up a level during the summer and originally there were no M-F time slots available at all and when one did open up it was at 6 or 6:30pm which is dinnertime for our family. Our son was in his last month of swim classes so we opted to have him just stay in the same level instead of graduating up, but it was disappointing. I have referred friends to Big Blue and will continue to do so. It really is a great swim school and I am grateful we had such a good experience with them over the last year.
