This is a fluid and filter type of shop and not capable of any diagnostics and testing, you're better off taking your car elsewhere. I had a blown head gasket and they told me I needed a tune up, 1000 dollars later I'm left with the same problem I had before taking it to them. In fact, you are probably better off doing the fluid and filters yourself and avoiding this shop completely. I have never taken any of our cars to this place without them being returned with another problem or having created another issue. They once replaced a radiator in a car without first pressure testing it. A fundamental step in radiator replacement. The radiator leaked. So they had the gall to charge me for the first installation AND for the removal of the bad part and installation of what, I guess, they hoped was a good part. Picked up car and there was no heat. They had failed to burp the cooling system using the small plug on the holding tank made for that purpose. Another time, I arrived 8-10 minutes before closing only to find the office doors locked and my car in the lot UNLOCKED. I had a valet key and I drove the car home. My wife took her car to this place for an oil change and State Inspection. The 'mechanic' left off the access panel under the chassis for oil pan access. I was told they could not get the part for weeks. I found the panel on eBay for $15. I have not used this place for some time now, but I felt it necessary to forewarn people who are considering taking their vehicle to Forest Automotive. BEWARE. read more

This was the second time I've brought my car to Forest Automotive. The first time, I had a small leak of oil from the bottom of my car. They fixed it in a day and for under $100. This time, I took in my car on a Wednesday morning with a broken front axle. They overnighted the parts and had it fixed on Thursday... and for a very reasonable price. Very good, honest, fair, and quick service. All for a reasonable price. I'll never go to another car repair center in Lynchburg again. I recommend them to everyone I know. read more

My Mom is 91 and my step father is 93 and they have their vehicles repaired here; I am always impressed with their quality of service as well as honesty on repair estimates to my elderly parents. I stopped by to ask them about repairing a part on my utility trailer and a couple of employees looked at it, took a screw driver and did some work and bamm it was fixed, I asked how much do I owe you and the answer was zero. They are personable, honest, keep you posted on progress and any issues that arise, give you options and sound advice without unnecessary up-sell pressure. I brought in my car for inspection (with a reservation). In spite of repeated calls on our behalf asking for a return call, none was given. At the end of the day, the car wasn't inspected so I picked it up on Sunday. No one called to see why the car was gone. This was my last visit to Forest Automotive...for sure. Here is my experience with Forest Automotive. I took my car in on a Tuesday for a wheel bearing change. It was supposed to be done that day. I didn't hear from them all day, therefore I called at 4:58pm, 2 minutes before close. They stated an ABS light had come on and that they hadn't figured out the problem yet, but that they would try to have it done by noon on Wednesday. By noon on Wednesday, still no word; therefore, I attempted to call, this time no answer. I drove down to the shop to see what was up. The office was open, the shop doors were open, the keys to many of the cars were hanging and tagged in the office. However, there was no one there. I checked the bathroom, the office and walked out to the shop, even waited around for several minutes and finally drove around the building, not a person to be found. Finally, at 5pm, again I call because I hadn't heard what was up. They stated that somehow a speed sensor had gotten broken and needed to be fixed. They stated they did not know if they caused the problem or if the part was about to break anyway, and would have needed to be replaced soon anyway. They stated in effort to be fair, in their opinion, they would put the new part on with no labor charges and would only charge me for the part at their cost, with no markup. Therefore, I will let you for your opinion based on that story. Maybe I should be grateful they fixed the broken part at cost. The reasons I will not be using Forest Automotive: 1-If you leave the shop unattended, at least lock up the keys to my car rather than leaving them hanging in an unlocked office. 2-I shouldn't be waiting on a call from you at closing time every day. Call and communicate, give me time to plan my schedule and to get there to pick up the car before you leave if it is done. If my car isn't going to be done when you say it is, call me before the time it was supposed to be done. 3-The ABS light wasn't on when the car came in; there was no problem with the speed sensor until you did your work. Therefore, it seems pretty evident to me that you caused the damage. I should not be charged an extra $200 for you damaging my car. read more

I and other members of my family have had several undesirable experiences with Forest Automotive. Several times we've had things repaired on numerous cars that did not fix the issue. And these are newer cars, not old clunkers, or lemons. Other times we've been pushed to do extra work that was not necessary. As of recent, I was charged over $270 for a $30 part that takes maybe 30 min of labor to install (an new ignition switch). Over $70 for part and shop fee, then 200 for labor! Believe it or not, it is now in a different local shop today, getting that exact same part replaced? Car died and had to have it towed. Time, money, and headaches. I, like others, want a mechanic that will do the following: - Honestly and accurately access the issue - Effectively fix the issue - Offer competitive pricing - Help me understand WHY I am paying so much for something - Give me peace of mind in what I am doing. Unfortunately, Forest Automotive has failed deliver that on too many occasions. Not saying they are crooks or criminals, I just can't trust them with my vehicles or my business any longer. read more

Horrible-stay away! We have given them several chances despite very pathetic outcomes each time. Each time they have called us to pick up our vehicle claiming it was fixed we have literally had to turn right back in because it was not fixed at all. He is a parts changer who had the nerve to tell me during one visit I realize we didn't need that $150 dollar part changed but it didn't hurt anything? Who says this! Another visit he said there would be no labor cost since again the car wasn't fixed properly but when I got in there he refused to honor that.
