From the purchase of the new vehicle to today the service has been terrible. This is a brand-new vehicle there have been so many issues with the vehicle. It is always easier to write a complaint or dissatisfaction but then "The Good Book" encourages us to give thanks where thanks are due... First of all, we are a Toyota family for at least the past 20 years. We have only had Toyota Camrys and Sienna in our garage. However, for some obvious reasons, I have always been a bit jaded by Auto dealership culture. Sadly there seems to be a lack of integrity in almost every facet of the Auto Dealership industry. I have typically stayed away from Auto dealerships because of that uncomfortable feeling they portray! One reason, I always feel priced gouged entering an auto dealership and I know I am not the only one! Anyways because of an emergency and location one early morning, I quickly pulled into this particular Toyota Dealership to check on what I thought was a faulty battery which is still under Toyota's warranty. Honestly, because of my previous horrible experience here, I sheepishly walked into the Service Center. I was immediately met by a young man, Randy (mechanic) who smiled, looked in the eyes and firmly shook my hand and genuinely asked how he could help me and I told him what I thought was the problem. I thought like my experience before, where the person takes my keys and asks me to go sit in the waiting area, He responded by immediately leaving what he was doing and came outside with me to my vehicle and took some information of the vehicle, took the vehicle keys and asked me to wait in the waiting area. To my surprise, he came back within 5 minutes with the diagnosis and solution. What increased my trust and impressed me most was, he told me the bad and good news together. Instead of trying to upsell me needlessly, he suggested the battery was perfectly fine and did not need replacement but he suggested that I take care of a Toyota recall item on my vehicle which would not cost me anything. Due to the longer than expected wait time they gave me a free loaner car for the day, which was a major plus. This one experience with Randy the mechanic and Todd the Customer Service gentleman has given me a higher trust for Berglund. Candidly speaking because of this Customer Service experience I am even considering Berglund Toyota as one of the dealerships to shop for my next Toyota. Before because of my past negative experience and what I believe was shameless price gouging at Berglund Toyota, this dealership was not even a remote consideration. Now it has gradually changed! Looks like something positive has happened with customer service at Berglund. They are slowly gaining the trust of potential customers one step at a time! They may be knowingly or unknowingly practicing the "law of the extra mile" If someone from Berglund Toyota is reading this, please personally extend my sincere thanks to Todd and Randy for their exemplary customer service. By the way, my only suggestion is to have a nicer waiting area. Looks like the furniture was a bit outdated and unhygienic looking from the business that was there before. I had a wonderful experience purchasing a car from Jennifer at Berglund. She was very helpful and patient with me.

We have purchased several cars over the years from Berglund Toyota. Up until now all interaction has been very positive. I used to feel they valued the person interaction with their customers. All of this has changed. Apparently they no longer want a relationship with customers. I called to make a service appointment. All I could do is talk with artificial intelligence. I also needed to talk to a service advisor. when Ifinally got the computer to understand I wanted to speak to a real person, I was sent to a voicemail. I left a message but did not receive a call until several hours later, and only then after I made a complaint. I was contacted later by text, which was, also A.I. this time it obviously thought I had wanted to talk about a sale because it said someone from the sales team would contact me. This A.I. calls itself Mia Grace, like it's actually a real person. I have a service appointment scheduled. Sadly I plan this to be my last visit to this dealership. In the future, I will be dealing with a dealership that values personal interactions with their customers. I don't know why this review thinks I am from CA. Actually I am from Amherst Va. read more

I bought a Highlander with Harris Watts a couple of months ago and had the best experience. Harris was fair, honest, and direct. He answered all my questions and didn't make me feel pressured at any time. The process was smooth and I feel I got a fair deal. When My in-laws decided to buy a Rav4, I didn't think twice and sent them to Harris. Again, he was polite, nice, and thorough. I went to this dealership twice in the last two months. First time for vehicle inspection. i walked into service area and waited 5 minutes to be greeted. Very poor customer service, especially since I have worked in Toyota Service Departments before. The second time was for vehicle paint failure. I am on a list to have entire car painted as areas of car have paint peeling off. Toyota acknowledges that certain paint used during a nearly nine year period is defective. Dealership that fully tested my vehicle is in a neighboring state. . Every month the peeling paint is worse. Berglund wants to paint only areas showing failure. No 3 hour test on vehicle with special tape to show paint failure. Service employee did not want to listen and was not helpful. Avoid this dealership if you are used to good customer service at a previous Toyota dealership... read more

Thieves and liars! I made an appointment and still wasn't seen for 3 hours later. Then, I am told I need a new transmission because the solenoid cannot be replaced. My brother calls the dealership and he is told that the solenoid can be replaced. After waiting for 3 hours even with an appointment, I am lied to and charged $200 for a diagnostic. Maybe it's because I'm a woman, I don't know. Either way, DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP. They have all these service people running around making sure you have coffee so that you think they are doing right by you. That is just not the truth. read more

I really liked the service dept until I took my newly inherited 2006 Sequoria in to be diagnosed. $360 later, was told it needed $4600 of repairs. Took it to my independent shop who diagnosed the main problem as a bad fuse, replaced it for very little and is running great. A real intentional attempt of a rip off!! Glad I didn't bite! Getting service scheduled is a joke. You go on line to schedule and they have no appointments available let on Saturdays for over a month and a half. Horrible Customer Service The lady that answers the (888) 606-2330 service line sounds like she completely hates her job and is extremely rude. I've dealt with her multiple times now and every time I am amazed by her rudeness and lack of professionalism. This most recent call with her, she transferred my call when I was in mid sentence. Most everyone seems like they cannot spare one moment to talk to you. I had an excellent experience this time with John Pollard at Berglund Toyota. Several years ago I was in the market for new Highlander, they would not meet my price offer. I decided to give them another chance this time for a 2014 Avalon Limited Hybrid. There was very little negotiation, I gave them an offer and they accepted quickly. Went to have my 4Runner looked at because it overheated one morning and the heater wasn't working. Shane (the manager) told me they needed to replace the engine because the head gasket blew, the engine block had warped, and there was coolant mixing with engine oil. It would cost $5000 and they already had an engine replacement picked out all I had to do was swipe my card and they'd take care of it pretty much. Took it to expert auto repair down the road that same day and gave them the same story I gave this place. They told me all I needed to replace was part of the thermostat and coolant needed servicing... only $300. No signs of coolant in the engine oil at all. I am car shopping for the past two weeks now since my car is living out its final days. I stopped in here and was greeted by a very nice sales lady, who put my desires and needs for a vehicle first, above price, which most places do the other way around. We found my dream car, for the dream price and began the financing side of auto shopping. This is where they failed. They never called me back, and I had to call them to get updates, and they did not even try to finance me, or make the sale. I have an interesting financing situation, and they were aware of that- which made me think they didn't care, and didn't want to "waste their time" selling a car to me. This was really upsetting. Horrible customer service. When I was searching for a car I stopped by several car dealerships and I ended up in this one. When I got there I told the car dealer my price range, mileage preference, and style of car. He then quickly shut me down and rudely told me that it was impossible to find a car with the specifications I was looking for. I left and went to the Nissan dealership and found exactly what I wanted. Boom! I would not recommend this dealership. I had posted a 2 star review on 8/14. I am posting this review based on the response I received from Berglund and Mr. Winner, Service Director. He investigated my issue, called me and let me know what had occurred and what steps were taken to rectify the matter and to prevent it from happening in the future. By Thursday, the correct tires were in the shop and on my car Friday morning. I appreciate the fact that Berglund looked at the matter and accepted responsibility for the error and corrected it. I was in Berglund Toyota when the lady named Donna was in there. I watched on 5/30/15 as her rude and sorry service was given. I watched in amazement at the treatment they gave her. The car of hers was driven around the building ( all the service area is glass in closed so you can see all that is done) and into the service bay and the tech got out. I heard the horn blow and also watched him raise the hood and shut it and walk away. I watched with her while the car sat there for 15 mins. then the tech came back drove the car around and said your car is done. Berglund did not inspect her car and when she confronted the service advisor, he got very aggressive and told her she was just trying to find fault with them cause they didn't have her car ready on time. When she ask about her brakes the tech said we inspected them. Now its pretty bad when you have techs that don't do their job and you as a service adviser tells a customer "Now I can take a lot and I have taken about all I can " WOW.......Maybe you should have someone there that does their job. The Virginia State Police should look at this place for not doing inspections. What a bad place to take your car..........Eek me think not read more

It's Thanksgiving - a time when you think about the past year and what you're thankful for. Pretty near the top of the list is the Berglund Toyota family. This is a long overdue rating, but life got a 'little' (a LOTtle) hectic when we met them. They are truly family now because they took care of my father-in-law like he was family. By the grace of God he ended up stranded there when his dementia hit. His car was not driveable and even if it was he was in no condition to get behind the wheel again. It was a 6 hour drive for us to come get him which put us there way after their normal closing time. The whole staff kept him entertained, fed and safe during the workday! Their service manager went above and beyond (understatement) taking care of him after hours. They did an outstanding job on the necessary repairs to the car as well. I could go on and on but just know this is TRULY a place that treats you like family! read more

I would not recommend the service center of Berglund Oak Ridge Toyota to my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and take your car to a quality independent service center. I have been a loyal Toyota owner for years. As a firm believer of providing proper service, I was a regular customer of this service department. Last year I took one of my vehicles in for scheduled maintenance and told "Rhonda" that I "want the scheduled maintenance for 60000 miles." I arrived to pick up my truck and was presented with an invoice for well over the quoted price at the time of drop off. Closer review revealed that the service was not completed according to the manual, but instead as I was told, "by Berglund's recommendations." That is not what I asked for and feel that the dealer fleeced me by exchanging their own service plan for the manufacturers plan. There have been other points with the service that were very dissatisfying over the last few years. Scheduling issues, late completion, etc. I guess for all that time I felt that if I wanted the best service, I had to go to the dealer. I am so glad to find that I can receive better service, at a fairer price, without the deceitful practices provided at Berglund Oak Ridge. Ofcourse, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and voiced my concerns. I was told that a manager would call to speak with me. NEVER HAPPENED. If you want great service, at a fair price DON"T GO TO BERGLUND OAK RIDGE. If you want a coupon for a greasy burger with your service, well that is something they can offer. read more

Think yourself fortunate that you did not purchase a vehicle from Berglund. I have not had anything but lies and frustration. They took my cash and since then I have been ignored, and insulted. I finally contacted the BBB who told me I had to follow the complaint protocol in the Toyota manual...who knew. They bury themselves so deep in legalities you have no recourse. The customer has to contact the corporate office who then tells you to contact another office.... Within a certain amount of time, which they do not tell you, it is in the manual. By the time you get heard the warranty is up and that negates their warranty and you are out of luck. Do your homework, and knew the unions have themselves covered, the customer is not first with Toyota. They do not deserve one star!! but I cannot post without chosing a star :( read more

Berglund Toyota is all about MONEY. I love my Toyota cars and my whole family drives Toyota's but I will not buy one from Berglund, nor get my cars serviced there. They don't honor warranties from other Toyota dealerships despite that being the national Toyota policy. Their receptionists and service personnel are rude and unhelpful. I suffered a windshield wiper failure (while hurdling up I-81) and had to have my wiper motor replaced in another city. Afterwards the intermittent wipers would not work and Berglund refused to check them out without first receiving PAYMENT. I was willing to pay if more service or parts were needed, but not willing to pay up front when Toyota had already checked and replaced the wiper motor. The dealership in the city where I had to have the replacement done said they should honor the national policy and try to help me out... but no... they refused and acted as though I was ridiculous for expecting it. I called the National Toyota hotline and they agreed with me but... oh well... DON'T SHOP BERGLUND!! Toyota's are great cars but I'd recommend traveling to a better dealership to purchase. I will admit sales representatives are available, easily approachable and from what I experienced friendly but from other dealerships I've been to that's not a standout attribute that differs much from the rest. I came here on referral from an in-law and her son so I decided since I was in the market for a Tacoma I'd check them out. I went there and was promptly greeted by a sales associates by the time I got out of my car. We talked for a bit and he went through the motions showing the vehicle, ok let's do a test drive. We did and the price tag was looking good so then I wanted to start looking at numbers in an office environment. I explained to them that I wanted a particular model and bed length which they didn't have but then he gets with his manager and they begin the hunt. Well they locate one and of course they don't say where it's located because they want to make the sale so they tell me they can get it. We work some numbers on the perspective vehicle and I agree. I put a little money down to show true interest in purchasing and they tell me I can leave and that once they get a confirmation that they will call me for more details on logistics. Day goes by and then I get a call. Well it's nothing but bad news because the dealership with the truck now can't be contacted and one of the rebates that I was eligible for isn't available to a miscommunication between the sales rep and the sales manager. I look it up on my own and sure enough fine print from Toyota corroborates what I was told. So now an extra $1000 more added to the price tag I begin my own search and I find what I want 3 hours away in North Carolina. I inform them of the vehicle I have found and that the it's several hundreds of dollars cheaper, also I tell them to scratch trying t allocate the silver Tacoma and that I'll wait for one coming from the factory if will at the least match the other dealerships price. I drive in and we rework paperwork. The accounting portion took a solid two hours in wait time and I was going to pay a decent amount of cash down. The accounting guy comes over and tells me that anything over $3500 on a card is levied an additional 3% charge for using a card. Instantly I'm outraged because there was not a sign one openly visible in the dealership that states that. I ended up using multiple cards to get around that charge but what if I had only one card? Im expected to carry around $10,20 or 30k dollars for a vehicle and run the risk of being robbed and losing it all or having it stolen someway? No that's ridiculous to expect that. Or I'm now subject to an additional few hundred dollars because that's not disclosed to the customer. So I buy the vehicle before it even arrives, so for them that vehicle has cost them not an extra cent because it didn't sit on the lot an additional day past dealership delivery. I'm told probably the 16th of May it will be there but no later than the 18th. I am ok with this wait and anxious to get my new truck. 16th comes no truck, 17th nothing, 18th I get a call and now I'm told it will be the 21st of May. The day of the 21st my in-law sends me a pic of the vehicle. Dealership doesn't even call me to tell me it's there and I end up calling them to confirm that it was my vehicle that was there and they tell me it is indeed my truck. I didn't receive an apology from the sales manager or the GM who were both there about the vehicle delivery. No offering of something for extra money I spent for a rental. NOTHING! I did my vehicle inspection before signing my final paper and while conducting the inspection discovered a four inch blemish in the paint. The GM and sales manager came out and told me they will do what it takes to get it fixed which they did end of resolving the issue. I asked them since my brand new vehicle would be tied up for a whole day would I be provided a rental and it was an iffy question so after a few minutes he comes back and tells me yes. This place has a lot of maybes when it comes to getting services and I think these customer amenities should be more transparent or without question. I have been to two other dealerships where they really value the customer and provide vouchers for services when you buy a brand new vehicle. Bowditch and Tysinger are both head and shoulders above this place and I won't purchase another vehicle from a Berglund dealership if I can help it. read more
