Poor excuse for Rotisserie style BBQ
    Bruno F.

From a Portuguese man that's been having churrasco from all around the United States, Brazil, and Portugal, I'm extremely disappointed in you guys. I don't know if my chicken was pulled from the bottom of the charcoal pit or if this is how you want to serve your Chicken. The cooking techniques of Forest BBQ are not what I'm use to at all. I got a smoked soggy bbq chicken instead of a rotisserie style. The skin was not consistent with a crispy barbecue style. Yes, there is such a thing as smoked bbq but I know this is not what you're trying to achieve. I will say the flavor on both the rice and chicken were good. The rice was undercooked slightly. You also forgot to give me fries with my order. You did follow directions and gave me a side of hot sauce. Also, what is going on with your health rating? I read the comments from the health inspection. You folks need to get your business in order. I haven't written a review less than three stars in awhile. You are truly giving Portuguese Churrasco a bad name. I hope one day I can trust you again, but for right now, it's a no go for me. "My review is strictly my opinion based on my experience and interaction with the business and/or persons while they provided me a service, food, or merchandise. This review is not to be translated as fact. My review is truthful to the best of my ability and is not intended to present harm to the business but to encourage them to perform better or allow them to continue being awesome. I have not received any monetary gain for writing this review" - Bruno F

A picture says it all. Forest BBQ's definition of "half chicken" but who knew that means half pieces of chicken?!? I wish I snapped a pic of the "half garlic chicken" which is 2 chicken cutlets in an aluminum foil wrapped garlic soup! Let me break down the events of the evening that led to this horrendous experience: -delivery over an hour -the driver didn't even get out of the car but passed me the food through his window -the owner threatened us on the phone Do yourself a favor stay away.

This place is a Portuguese style BBQ. The seasoning on the chicken is different from the other BBQ places. Got the lunch special two pieces chicken with rice and beans, beef rib, chicken & cheese empanadas and fresh passion fruit juice. The chicken was well seasoned with crispy skin and not dry. The beef rib was freshly grilled. The empanadas was ok. The fresh passion fruit juice tasted like it came from a powder mixed. The service needs a lot of improvement. The person taking order barely speaks English. We waited over 15 minutes for the beef ribs and she forgot my chicken, rice and beans until we asked her. We were the only table at the restaurant.

Food is fantastic and reasonably priced. Service is always great. Space is not fancy and not too many seats, but we mainly get take out.

So good and cheap. I'm talking about the lunch special that is $5.50. It consists of grilled chicken, beans and rice.

Service was prompt-- we were seated almost immediately once our whole group was gathered, and immediately began to be served. Meats came out fast. They have a 3 meat at a time limit here, but given that they're doing most of the cooking for you, it helps keep things fresh and things are coming off the grill pretty quickly anyways, so the limit does not really come at the cost of velocity of consumption (if you're that kind of AYCE eater). Service here is pretty proactive, coming by regularly and taking orders promptly. We got a mix of meats and sides throughout. Pork belly is a winner, both slabs and slices. Beef intestines were not as we remembered from other locations, but nonetheless good. Sliced beef brisket and jowl are also good cuts for folks looking for something new. Not too much of a fan of marinated meets, but I'm sure they'd live up to the same level of quality too. One huge plus about this particular chain (for which you do pay a bit of a premium in the price) is that they have pretty amazingly efficient grills and vents, such that you can largely avoid smelling like your AYCE KBBQ afterwards. Pretty uncommon, and totally forgivable when it happens, but a nice plus for this place!

Lunch was 33 dollars per person.

Coordinating a group that size is never easy, but the staff was very accommodating they kept things moving, checked in often, and made sure we had what we needed. The food was a1. From the grill the short rib was the star! the hot pot miso soup was everything and satisfying just what I needed to combat the cold weather. There was plenty to go around, and the interactive cook-it-yourself vibe made it perfect for a group celebration. Definitely one of those meals where everyone is talking, laughing, and tasting a little bit of everything. That said, there were a few notes. A couple of items were brought out that we didn't order, which caused a bit of confusion at the table. Nothing major. Even with that, the experience was fun and delicious overall, and I genuinely had a great time celebrating here.

The bill included an 18% service fee which wasn't mentioned on the menu when I went nor by the staff whenever we were served. You enter and tables are right inside. This is probably one of the first most authentic Cantonese places I come across on the island. It is unique in a sense that it tries to accomplish so much and accommodate many populations at the same time. I can't tell you if I should call it a restaurant or cafe. For instance, right when you walk into the restaurant/cafe, you get a sense that if you want to sit down to eat and dine, you can expect services. Though, this is not typically how you'd feel if you were to walk into a Cantonese bakery. In a regular Cantonese cafe, you are not expecting services. Rather, you can buy a cup or milk tea or a Bao, and you can chill and gossip with your friends. To sum up, just know that you will get service if you are getting a meal here. The waitresses are incredibly nice and warm. In the left side of the room or straight ahead from the entrances, there are counters specifically for takeouts . I ordered 1lb roasted pork, Cheung fun, a honey tea, and a Bao. They are pricier than Manhattan and Brooklyn, however, all are incredibly delicious and authentic. I recommend it.
