We came here for a birthday, but we weren't seated until 45 minutes after our reservation time, which with a child, was actually really frustrating. We could have just shown up and gotten seated around the same wait time. Once we were seated, our waiter was really great about finding out from the kitchen things to accommodate multiple dietary restrictions. He really made the experience a lot better. Unfortunately, we weren't able to order the jumbo shrimp appetizer or lobster mac n cheese because they were out of both. Bread was soft and the butter was a great mapley flavor. The mussels were decent and a large portion, great for sharing. The blue cheese wedge salad was fine but felt a bit overpriced for what it was. The porterhouse for one doesn't come sliced like it would for two, and the fillet was tender, the strip was fine. The shrimp and scallops came with a potato and vegetables, and while nice, we would have ordered fewer sides if that was noted anywhere. We did opt for the brussel sprouts, mac n cheese, and truffle fries, which were all tasty and a shareable size. Over the food was pretty good, but being out of multiple dishes and the crazy wait time made the place only okay for me. There's no lot but street parking wasn't hard to find. Service was really good. It worked out for our occasion.

I have been wanting to try this place for years, then my boyfriend took me here for my bday.. Well worth the wait.

We had a reservation for 745 pm and they sat us at 8 so that wasn't a great start. They also sat 3 tables before us so I'm guessing they are really bad at time management. Also the booth they gave us was the one closest to the door which had a bit of a draft. The seating in the back area is probably better. When we sat down our waiter greeted us with water which is always a good way to go to your table, and then the service was ok. The waiter forgot my diet soda but when he saw me as he walked by he remembered that he forgot so he brought it eventually, but then when we got dessert he forgot my water. Most of the food was just ok, but the prime rib was perfect. The bacon wrapped Brussels sprouts were also amazing. The truffle Parmesan fries were not the best, but they did make me want to keep eating them. The cheesecake I got for dessert was good but it could use a syrup or strawberries or something to add to the flavor. It was better than most places but felt too plain. Finally the cappuccino was not really great and the fish on it was a bit like soap water.. not in taste... Just a bit bubbly. I would go back for the prime rib and the Brussels sprouts, but I hope they get better with their reservations.

Our server Ryan was friendly and social, which was a pleasure to converse with. The ambiance is also quite warm and relaxing, with dimmed lighting to enhance the dining experience. The French onion soup was very flavorful and came with a generous amount of cheese, so definitely recommend getting one to warm you right up! The escargot was extremely disappointing. As you can see in the picture, the liquid was not butter as it usually comes with. Ryan confirmed this with the kitchen staff who informed him that it was water, garlic and pesto. We both looked dumbfounded because escargot usually comes with butter, garlic, and parsley/pesto, so the water made the entire dish very diluted and bland. For our main, I got the west shore burger where for its price, was pretty worth it since it came with a big piece of crab cake. The composition that made up the crab cake was interesting, but didn't really capture my interest. The overall dish was just mediocre, and I think maybe enhancing the sauce might complement and tie the crab cake and burger together more smoothly, for they didn't really pair together that well in my opinion. My wife got the Lobster N King Crab Legs, which came with a GENEROUS amount of meat as you can see in the pictures. Unfortunately, it might've been on the grill for too long since it was overly dry and not juicy at all, making the meat kind of tough. The lobster was also unfortunately overly charred, leaving the tough lobster meat also bitter in some areas. We really wanted to start the new year strong, but unfortunately this experience was only just decent. However, I do believe West Shore Inn Steakhouse has amazing potential to do so much better; perhaps because today was new years, the quality of the food suffered a bit. Overall, our most enjoyable experience was conversing with Ryan, who kindly empathized with the suboptimal dining experience. I wish West Shore the best, for I believe there may be other foods more satisfying. Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

A hidden gem on the menu is the Kansas City Ribeye. We also tried the stuffed mushrooms and the shrimp special which was served with a homemade hot sauce on amazing bread. Will be back to try the mashed potatoes. This place continues to be a great hidden gem!

    Fatty prime rib

Prime rib was a steak of pure raw Fat very disappointing this place has definitely changed ! I can make a better steak on the George Foreman grill

For appetizers, we got zucchini chips, fried calamari and mussels. The calamari was fried too hard and it had a very salty, spicy Chilean type sauce over it. The zucchini chips were thinly sliced, lightly battered with Parmesan cheese sprinkled over them. They were decent but nothing to write home about. In fact, after having about six or seven of the zucchini chips I began to experience heartburn from the grease. For entrees, my husband had the chicken parm. He said it was too thick and should have been flattened more before frying. It was also very breaded. My brother-in-law ordered the chicken and waffles and he said the chicken tasted day old so after having a bite of one piece of the chicken he pushed the chicken aside and called it a day. I called the waiter over and informed him about the chicken tasting day old. He didn't try to change it out or take it off the bill or get a manager. He just apologized by saying I'm sorry. My crab Mac and Cheese was decent. It wasn't seasoned the way I would have liked but the huge, plentiful chunks of crab made up for that. I ate a third of my dish and packed the rest for home where I will doctor it up to my taste. I've never been to this particular restaurant before. The only reason we came today is because my brother-in-law was here on business and staying at a hotel in the area.

I'd say we were successful in that regard, and this is probably one of the top two places I've been now in town, along with Garlic Rose. Even if you didn't have access to the menu, this just LOOKS like an upper-class steakhouse - lots of darker interior colors with deliberate use of lighting almost like the aisles in a movie theater. We did the responsible thing and made 6:30pm reservations, though the restaurant was relatively empty when we first got there (it filled up for sure during our dinner). We were immediately seated and attended to, which was a pleasant recurring theme for our experience. On the booze front, we each got an Old Fashioned, which was specifically cited on the cocktail menu, and a bottle of Daou Cab Sauvignon to share (I let my chum take the lead on that selection, which I think was influenced by the strong reviews on the Vivino app - a recommend if you're into that sort of thing). The Old-Fashioned was decent; I'm always pleased when the de facto bourbon is Angel's Envy. I'm not crazy about vermouth, which I always think gives off shoe leather vibes, but I did like the smoky profile on this one. Not bad at all, but I liked the bottle of wine better. We decided to split the Grilled Octopus app, which came with seasoned potatoes, olives and tomatoes. This was arguably the weakest part of the meal. The octopus was a little tough/rubbery and the accompanying potatoes to me were very much needed and better, frankly, than the designated star of the show here. I'm not an olive person but my chum's comment there was they were too overwhelming, taste-wise. Noted. We also got a side of parmesan truffle garlic steak fries, which I didn't have too many of because I was distracted by all of the other options on the table, but would totally get again. For entrees, it felt morally proper to hit up the cattle (when in Rome). I went with the Braised Short Ribs, which is one of my go-tos if it's on the menu. Pretty good - VERY tender and literally falling off the bone. I'd say about 20% of it was too fatty for me, and I pawned that section off on my chum, but the other 80% was primo. She got the Filet Mignon Oscar style (which my computer wanted to autocorrect to Oscars, thinking it was the umpteenth time I was typing something about the Academy Awards), and was very pleased by it. Not mindblowingly amazing but solidly above average across the board. I'm not sure why we ordered dessert at this point other than to ensure I had something else to munch on the following day, but we did that too. I got the Cheesecake w/ Marionberry Compote. This was just okay for me. Taste-wise, the cheesecake seemed a little off for my palate; maybe a little too tart? It didn't seem as milky as other cheesecakes, which doesn't necessarily mean it was bad, but wasn't my kind of cheesecake. The compote was also just okay, both in the moment and as a leftover the following day. Maybe I'm just used to getting this dessert with strawberries and compotes that are similar to that type of fruit, but I just didn't think the compote and cake meshed as well. Debatable though. There's room for improvement but this is a strong entry in the Cranford gastro scene, such as it is.
