As we were seated, we were immediately taken care of. They give sour dough bread and butter to start, it was very good. I really liked my NY strip steak, it was well seasoned and fatty which was also good. I asked for a medium rare steak and they delivered as requested! As for their garlic bread, it's done on Italian bread and I absolutely loved it. A bit overdone on the baking, but delicious regardless. The burger was larger than I expected, and came with a crab cake too. Would definitely come again for their cuts of meat! What stood out to me the most was my kind server. Since I loved the sour dough and butter so much I asked for some to go. She then later came back with a whole loaf for me to take home!! I think her name was Darcy- she was so kind and I really appreciated the gesture. It's service like that which would bring customers to dine in more often, as I will for sure. Only issue at the end was the choice of payment being apple-pay. One server claimed they didn't take it, and Darcy corrected this and helped us to pay. Clear clarification would be greatly appreciated among all employees, rather than being told 2 different things. The husband brought me here to celebrate our one month of marriage. It's a neighborhood, old school steakhouse and bar. It almost feels like a place you stumble into in a small town from a hallmark movie. It's a spot with locals enjoying dinner or solo men having a drink at the bar. To start, the table got some complimentary rustic bread with a maple butter. The bread was good, but wished the butter was more soft. It was all crumbly and hard to smear onto the bread. For the meal, we ordered the Porterhouse Steak for 2 ($115) and a side of Lobster Mac & Cheese ($24). The steak was presented beautifully on a plate all sliced up for you. There was a nice seared crust, which gave it a nice amount of saltiness that it didn't need sauce with this. I was quite impressed with the mac and cheese, which could be a main dish all by itself from the portion size. The macaroni is cheesy and velvety while being loaded with lobster. I loved the chunks of lobster pieces in this, which is well worth the upgrade. Overall, a nice spot on Staten Island with an old school vibe. We came here for a birthday, but we weren't seated until 45 minutes after our reservation time, which with a child, was actually really frustrating. We could have just shown up and gotten seated around the same wait time. Once we were seated, our waiter was really great about finding out from the kitchen things to accommodate multiple dietary restrictions. He really made the experience a lot better. Unfortunately, we weren't able to order the jumbo shrimp appetizer or lobster mac n cheese because they were out of both. Bread was soft and the butter was a great mapley flavor. The mussels were decent and a large portion, great for sharing. The blue cheese wedge salad was fine but felt a bit overpriced for what it was. The porterhouse for one doesn't come sliced like it would for two, and the fillet was tender, the strip was fine. The shrimp and scallops came with a potato and vegetables, and while nice, we would have ordered fewer sides if that was noted anywhere. We did opt for the brussel sprouts, mac n cheese, and truffle fries, which were all tasty and a shareable size. Over the food was pretty good, but being out of multiple dishes and the crazy wait time made the place only okay for me. There's no lot but street parking wasn't hard to find. We had a reservation for 745 pm and they sat us at 8 so that wasn't a great start. They also sat 3 tables before us so I'm guessing they are really bad at time management. Also the booth they gave us was the one closest to the door which had a bit of a draft. The seating in the back area is probably better. When we sat down our waiter greeted us with water which is always a good way to go to your table, and then the service was ok. The waiter forgot my diet soda but when he saw me as he walked by he remembered that he forgot so he brought it eventually, but then when we got dessert he forgot my water. Most of the food was just ok, but the prime rib was perfect. The bacon wrapped Brussels sprouts were also amazing. The truffle Parmesan fries were not the best, but they did make me want to keep eating them. The cheesecake I got for dessert was good but it could use a syrup or strawberries or something to add to the flavor. It was better than most places but felt too plain. Finally the cappuccino was not really great and the fish on it was a bit like soap water.. not in taste... Just a bit bubbly. This place has always been a "Serious Steakhouse" and a bit of a "Secret" in Staten Island. The last time I was here, I had a "Dry-Aged Porterhouse that was absolutely delicious. For some odd reason, I was interested in trying their "Prime Rib" night Special. I purposely went early to avoid the "Type of crowd" a "Prime Rib Night" draws. First of all, incredibly hospitality from the staff. Extremely accommodating. They "Do Not" make Traditional "Prime Rib" they cook individual Rib Steaks. It was obviously a prime cut. Succulent and tender. I personally would have added some high end finishing salt, but that's just me. The Aus Jus was amazing especially when paired with their fresh sourdough bread. As I finished this well rounded meal, it started to become engulfed with the "Geriatric" Prime-Rib night regulars. Which was totally fine. Went to the West Shore in last night, Thursday, April 9, 2026, for the prime rib. We usually go two or three times a month. This was the worst experience ever. The prime rib was inedible. It was fatty and tough. I sent it back and received another piece. This was as bad as the first. I asked if they had a new chef. I was told that it was the same chef as always. Also, the baked potatoes were hard, the asparagus was drenched in garlic so much that all you tasted was the garlic. So bad! When the check came only half of the prime rib was credited. I asked the waiter and he was no help. I asked for the manager. She came over and explained that they did give me two pieces. I told her that shouldn't matter - both were inedible. She did nothing more. I told the waiter that I was so surprised about the bad food. He informed me that he did not have any other complaints. Bottom line is that I never go back there again. I am sure that my absence will not cause them any concern, however, I wanted to let you all know that the West Shore isn't very accommodating. They have the wrong attitude towards customers. I had never sent anything back before, but this was so bad I didn't have a choice. There are so many other really GOOD restaurants in Staten Island, which I can and will go to. Our server Ryan was friendly and social, which was a pleasure to converse with. The ambiance is also quite warm and relaxing, with dimmed lighting to enhance the dining experience. The French onion soup was very flavorful and came with a generous amount of cheese, so definitely recommend getting one to warm you right up! The escargot was extremely disappointing. As you can see in the picture, the liquid was not butter as it usually comes with. Ryan confirmed this with the kitchen staff who informed him that it was water, garlic and pesto. We both looked dumbfounded because escargot usually comes with butter, garlic, and parsley/pesto, so the water made the entire dish very diluted and bland. For our main, I got the west shore burger where for its price, was pretty worth it since it came with a big piece of crab cake. The composition that made up the crab cake was interesting, but didn't really capture my interest. The overall dish was just mediocre, and I think maybe enhancing the sauce might complement and tie the crab cake and burger together more smoothly, for they didn't really pair together that well in my opinion. My wife got the Lobster N King Crab Legs, which came with a GENEROUS amount of meat as you can see in the pictures. Unfortunately, it might've been on the grill for too long since it was overly dry and not juicy at all, making the meat kind of tough. The lobster was also unfortunately overly charred, leaving the tough lobster meat also bitter in some areas. We really wanted to start the new year strong, but unfortunately this experience was only just decent. However, I do believe West Shore Inn Steakhouse has amazing potential to do so much better; perhaps because today was new years, the quality of the food suffered a bit. Overall, our most enjoyable experience was conversing with Ryan, who kindly empathized with the suboptimal dining experience. Just left West Shore Inn. We went for Stephen's birthday. My first impression was oh no stairs to get in. Since I'm in a wheelchair I didn't think I'd be eating there. The manager? Busboys and waitress all came out with a ramp and helped me into the building. They were amazing. It was a little dark inside , but great for date night. The staff was very attentive ,but not overly attentive. We ordered a coconut margaritas (delicious) and a Pina colada just as good. We then had the Porterhouse aged steak (24 ounces of pure melt in your mouth pleasure.) Prime Rib delicious and chicken parm over linguine was very good. Our side were sautéed mushroaoms and linguine with clam sauce. Needless to say we all brought home at least half of our dinners. For dessert we shared a Brownie Explosion(Omg so good.) And scrumptious Tiramisu, which was on the house for the birthday boy. I thank all that helped me and will definitely return. I love the ambiance of the West Shore Inn. It's old and hasn't been updated probably since it was built, but that is what I love about it. It's dark and cozy and a great date spot. I went on a date to this place that was recommended by my girlfriend she bragged about how good the steaks are at this place because she has gone there many times with her friends and so I drove out to pick her up and go try it when we got there. We got a seat right away, the place isn't bad nothing fancy I wouldn't really call it a steakhouse. It looks more like a bar that sells food I've been to many steakhouses and they don't look like a bar anyway, we placed our orders we got wine which wasn't bad and then we looked at the menus and decided to order what she recommended which was a T-bone steak and I'm looking at menu trying to figure out what I should get besides the steak so I ordered a baked clams they were OK. I've had a lot better a little bit dry and the sauce was bland. Then we ordered our main course which was the T-bone steak ( way overpriced ) and a couple of side dishes because it's à la cart we told them we wanted it well done which it was and the steak wasn't bad but again no seasoning nothing fancy about it wasn't like it's aged meat as you get real steakhouses that are seasoned to top it off and the price again for me was an issue because I don't mind paying for a good steak but let's be real that steak is not worth 54 bucks so we ended up having our dinner. I told her I don't know what you were bragging about, but this is not what you made it seem to be but I figured I'd give it a try because she kept bragging about it and I told her next time I'll take you to a real steakhouse with the price matches the steak for 54 bucks you get a New York strip steak not a T-bone, especially in the place that looks like a bar anyways, I won't be going back to this place that's for sure it's an OK place if you want to go to something local but not for the money unless you don't care then by all means go ahead and that's it. West Shore is a perfect example of an old school tavern and steakhouse. Established in 1964 they have had a long run and are still going strong. We loved the quaint vintage atmosphere as well as the efficient friendly service. The liquor and bar bill was reasonable considering the New york City norm. Now for the food which was overall delicious. Starting with a nice simple house salad with a couple of basic dinner rolls, nothing to write home about but adequate. Then my 20 oz. shell steak on the bone, which was dry aged 21 days - outstanding. For sure one if the best steaks I've ever eaten and that includes places like Peter Luger and many other top level joints. A home run. But, unfortunately the 16 oz. prime rib did not quite live up to expectations as it was overdone and slightly chewy. Sides of baked and mashed potatoes along with broccoli were pedestrian. Not cheap but fair pricing along with the just ok prime rib nets them 4 stars. Perhaps our next visit will score them a perfect 5, we will see. read more

Chicken wings were ok Several of us ordered porterhouse steaks which were cooked to the right temperature but were also under seasoned. No salt, very little pepper, and no butter on the steaks. Very little juice ran out of the steaks. And the steaks are not cheap. Vegetables and potato are served with the steaks. It seems as if the restaurant uses frozen vegetables. The vegetables come right out of a bag and are microwaved. The porterhouse for one is $43 and for this price I expect more care and preparation with the food. My brother in law ordered the prime rib, he said it was chewy and also under seasoned. The back room here needs some updating and the food preparation needs improvement. If you want steak spend the money and go over the bridge. The popularity of West Shore Inn is undeserved. read more
