Just a warning, they don't brush, blow dry or style your hair afterwards so I had to go home and do that myself. However, I expected it as this is typical at a head spa. We recently moved to Escondido, and I was looking for a very good spa experience. I have retired from being the director of a massage school for more than 20 years. I can recognize when someone is good with their massage skills, body awareness and technique. It is extremely important to work slowly, connecting with the client's body in a very professional manner. Draping a client so that they feel comfortable, checking in to see if the ask about the pressure, and addressing all areas of the body in respect. I worked with Regina who was very welcoming and friendly, had impressive massage techniques, and had an amazing touch! She got an A+ from my critic of the time I spent on her table. I choose the 90 minute massage. It felt like time just stopped, my muscles released from the daily tension I have been holding. I came away feeling very refreshed, and extremely grateful for her expertise, and for the extra time she spent on the area of my body that I needed a bit more time with. My trip to forest house spa was amazing! I got a 1 hr facial & 1 hr scalp treatment combo. I have been to 2 other scalp locations and this one was my favorite. Forest house is so similar to the treatments in Asia that I see on YouTube. The facial included a regular facial, but she also did lymphatic drainage massage included in the price. It wasn't an additional fee. I enjoyed how they pulled the products into my hair since they were going to clean my scalp and finished the facial after my hair was washed 3 times! Amazing massage, I can't remember his name but he was very professional, very strong hands, and very good attention to Detail. I've been told I give pretty good massages myself, and I always wish somebody massaged me the way that I massage them, if that makes sense. He was perfect, he found every little knot and worked it out. I've been in pain for about three weeks straight and he loosened everything up so nicely. I got the 60 minute custom massage and asked him to focus on my upper back shoulder blades and he did exactly what I asked. I will be back again and again! They didn't use any strong, smelling lotions, or oils, they said they used coconut oil, which is nice because I didn't want anything with artificial fragrance. You could tell all of the linens were clean because they had a pretty strong smell of detergent, which was a little bit much for me because I use unscented, but at least I knew it was clean! Only to find out the day of that they screwed up and had no appointments. Someone (Sheila?) promised to fix it and take care of us, said she would call back. She didn't. We tried calling multiple times & they wouldn't answer. Finally someone who wasn't Sheila answered and said she had already told us she couldn't help and that Sheila wasn't there. Only for Sheila to immediately hop on the phone and apologize profusely for not calling back. They offered us $20 off but ONLY if we booked another appointment and put down a credit card. Over the years, we have had numerous massages, but by far, Regina is the best. Her big smile and relaxed demeanor put you at ease right from the beginning. Her technique is, in my opinion, is flawless. The way she transitions from massage to stretching and back to massage are very smooth. Regina and her staff have visited us at our home and we have been the Miramar location. The rooms are comfortable, relaxing, allowing you to just forget everything and be in the moment! I am a physical therapist so do a good combination of both manual labor and sitting at a desk documenting all day. The manual therapy I do has recently been causing soreness in my forearms and hands that eventually cause my fingers to numb.. Meanwhile, the documenting at my desk leads to neck pain, which progresses to headaches, then upper trap tension, and into back pain. Today after a long day at work, with a pounding headache, my partner was helping me look for nearby massage services and found Forest House Spa. I am usually skeptical to go to massage places, because I am stubborn and try to self-massage. I also prefer customized care and to have my specific problem areas tended to, rather than having a masseuse go through a choreographed routine (which has happened in the past for me at other places). However, they had a "medical massage" option which looked customizable, so I gave them a shot. I scheduled the first available massage at 7:30 PM and arrived 30 minutes early (they close at 8:30 so I arrived early in case they didn't have someone scheduled before). They welcomed me with a smile and took me in early -- even with late notice! Let me just say, I am very very very happy with the service and attention to detail at Forest House Spa. The woman who greeted me (I think it might have been the owner) also took the time to check what exactly I was looking for and any health concerns. My masseuse, Ling, also double checked what my main concerns were and was so attentive throughout the session by actually addressing the things that I requested. I also appreciated that Ling constantly checked if his pressure needed to be increased or decreased and that when he found extra tight or involved spots, he didn't just graze over it. He would go back and work extra on my problem areas and was consistent with his pressure (even though it was probably the end of his busy work day and I'm sure he was tired). The first time I came was when my mother was over for her birthday in April, I scheduled this as a fun thing to do with her and we were both thoroughly impressed. I've been going once or twice a month since. Every woman is very sweet and does a more specialized treatment than what's described on the website depending on your skin. My last few appointments have been with Sheila who exudes so much kindness and energy and gives me advice for my skin during my treatments. I don't understand how this unprofessional business can survive. We made an appointment one week ahead for two people and arranged our time for it, but about 20 minutes before our appointment time on Saturday, they called and asked for canceling one because one of their employee cannot make it. It means one of us had to leave. It ruined our plan for the day. They also gave us a ridiculous excuse that their employee's car is broken, just right before our appointment time to find out that and it is in the middle of the day? Did they have hear of Uber / Lyft? And we don't mind to wait a little longer for them to come but that is not the case here I guess. They also suggested me for coming back on weekdays lol...
