The only reason I gave an extra star was because of how beautiful the lake and vaults are. But the graves, ground and headstones need serious work. I was horrified walking around when I saw a grave with a large gaping circular hole in a portion of the fresh dirt a few weeks ago. Who knows what got in there but it was wide enough to suggest a rodent of some sort. The hole was still there days later. The human being buried there deserves dignity and respect, same with all of the others who have significant damage to their headstones or cracked vases and debris all over. Do better. read more

I have many family members buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park and we own additional plots for myself and my wife. All of these were bought by my father when Forest Lawn was locally owned and much better managed and maintained. My father saw the decline in all aspects of the site and the business for a few years before he passed. He often expressed his disappointment with how things were changing for the worse. He buried his sister there in 2005. The maintenance crew accidentally ran over her marker and destroyed the bronze vase. He requested a replacement and was told many times it would be taken care of. He passed in 2007. My mother took on the task of getting the vase replaced. She passed in 2021. I took this on. 16 years later and more effort, arguing, and time than should have been necessary we had a new vase. Exhausting and unacceptable. That's just one of many examples. The site is horribly maintained. Local crew would love to do better but simply have no support, direction, or budget to execute. While the White House is listed as a historic site and deemed worthy of rehabilitation (according to the plaque in the Forest Lawn sales office), StoneMor is seeking a permit to demolish the 171 year old building Stonemor out of Pennsylvania now owns Forest Lawn. While many (not all) of the local employees are fantastic, they simply have no ability to make decisions and deliver on their stated mission. They certainly oversell and under deliver. From my experience and observation this is no longer a memorial park or even a cemetery for that matter. It's a storage facility at best. We will not be using our remaining plots and are not selling them, We will not sell our problem to someone else. My father would agree and understand. Before you make an end-of-life decision on where to be buried. Look at the site. Seek other opinions and options. read more

Would not recommend at all. Lawn care not kept up. Must be done yourself. Paid for head stone on 4/1/2020. After repeated calls by us, finally went in to order on 6/6/2020. Told it would be in 4 weeks at latest. Now 8 weeks later, told it was just ordered would take 6-8 weeks. Then another 2 weeks to put in. They have now had our money for 6 months. Burial site has not been leveled off, still lumps of dirt. DO NOT BURY YOUR LOVED ONE HERE. Have been repeatedly lied to about status and up keep of fixing the grave above which was totally destroyed with this burial. read more

Glad I will not be at this cementary when it is My time went there today to look for a place for My brother. Stopped by my parents grave which I Must say the lawn care maintenance was horrible and still his head stone had not been updated since December 2018. Asked inside and the work order for it was never Processed. They quoted me roughly 4200 for a niche for the ashes of him and his wife. My parents purchased plots next to each other in the 1980s. My father has been buried there and my mom recently passed several weeks ago at 98 years of age. All she talked about was being buried next to my father and near her parents and brother. At the time of her passing I was asked to come to the cemetery and "confirm" the location. I wasn't sure why this was necessary since their headstone was there with my father's name, and we had confirmed the plot number. I arrived only to find there was someone else's headstone next to theirs, and was told someone else had mistakenly been buried in my mother's plot next to my father. She said she had no idea how this could have happened, and she wasn't employed there at the time this had taken place. They would just need to "slide" this other person over and place my mother in the middle. I have been so upset thinking about this and wondering what other strange things are going on? I watched after her service to make sure it was, in fact, her casket being lowered next to my father. Needless to say, this is something I'll never forget. I returned last Saturday to pay my respects for Easter and noticed 2 cracks on their headstone that weren't there before, according to my pictures and videos. I'm sure they have no idea how that happened either. I only hope it doesn't take too long to have her name, date of birth and death added, and that it's her name and not someone else's. The headstone of the other person is lying off to the side. I'm sure that family has so idea what has been going on. Death is painful enough without having to deal with this type of incompetence. read more

Had problems with a vase stuck when they put it back in after flowers had been in. My sister-in-law had called sevreal times and nothing done. I stopped in and was given a work order number. Received a call that problem was fixed. When I went out there nothing was fixed. Called the office and they said someone would be right there. After waiting I drove up to the office and my wife waited by the grave. They told me the men were already heading there. My wife said they drove by her but didn't stop. Went back up to the office and a very rude lady said they had more to do than just us. When I asked why I was told they were on there way she just snarled.. By then my wife was upset . The lady working there said she was only paid $13.00 an hour and didn't have to put up with us. The men working realize how unhappy we were and followed us to the grave. By then the men in the pickup truck were there and they fixed the problem. The woman is overpaid if that's her customer service. Weeds are overgrown. Not happy with the way we were handled. read more

I just got home from visiting my nana and I have to say I am just disgusted how the people who work here act. I was actively sobbing over my nanas grave trying to catch her up on my life and the people cutting the grass were just loving the show. Everytime one of them passed me they would stare. And the cop patrolling the area saw me, pulled off to the side of the road, and just sat there and watched me the whole time. I get that I'm 19 and alone in a cemetery, but this is the only time I had been able to see her alone. I ended up leaving feeling super embarrassed and unable to tell her everything I needed to. I love and miss my nana so much and I just wanted to tell her I'm doing better. Now it's time for you guys to do better. read more

Upon arriving at our small gathering in Forest Lawn Memorial Park to honor my late Uncle I noticed two women I did not know. One had a clipboard in her hand and the other was speaking on her cell phone very loudly. I guess that having a gathering of 6 people in a cemetery requires a financial commitment. We had not pre-arranged anything because we were not burying anyone or causing a big scene. Regardless, my grandmother gave the lady all of her information and offered to pay. We proceeded to the gravesite of her late husband, my grandfather, with the two women following closely behind us. We all began praying as the woman on the cell phone remained carrying on with someone on her cell phone at full voice, less than 10 feet away (complaining about us being there). My sister walked over and quietly asked her to keep it down and she responded with, "You all can leave"! That is when I walked over, handed her a hundred dollars, and asked her to leave. Apparently the woman felt that we were such an issue that she called the police. Even the police said that she was completely out of line. I would recommend staying as far away from this organization as possible. You think that a person in this industry would have been trained to treat their interactions with grieving families with a bit more civility. This woman managed to handle a fairly simple interaction with the most inappropriate and disrespectful manner possible. Shame on that woman, and shame on this organization for employing such an incompetent woman. read more

Horrible experience they were digging grave when we arrived 10 minutes early. It was very upsetting

I have laid to rest 20+ family members in Forest Lawn. My mother was buried there almost 30 years ago and it was a BEAUTIFUL place then. On Friday 8/16/2019 I attended another family member's burial and was appaled and embarrassed of the cemetary's grounds condition. There were weeds growing everywhere, grass was uncut and all of my family's grave stones were covered by grass and could not even be seen. (I manually pulled all weeds/grass away from the stones myself). The burial service was finished around 12:45 and I set out to talk with someone in the civil war house/office only to notice modulars set up beside the original office. (obviously the original house is unused now) While walking around looking for an entrance I witnessed several broken down cars in the back of the office and again very poorly kept grass and weeds all around the office area. After several minutes of walking around without any clue or direction as to where I could get to the office I finally found a door for the office entrance. Once I got to the door I was greeted by a out of office sign stating they would be back at 2:30. Maybe if they didn't take such a long lunch they could attend to the cemetary appropriately. I called the number listed on their website and of course the number was disconnected. After much time I was able to find a another "corporate" office number where I left a message and have not received a call back as of today. I believe a cemetary should be a place of peace, tranquility, and beauty for our loved ones. Forest Lawn has forgotten these important qualities and portrays disrepect for all buried there. My husband and I were preparing to set up our burial arrangements here (beside my family members) but now I don't think I will feel comfortable being laid to rest there. What a shame! read more

Recently enquiring about cremation and burial in this cemetery, employee Janet told me that Kentucky has a new law that cremated remains cannot be scattered by family and their loved one's remains have to be put in a burial plot in a cemetery. She also said that remains cannot be scattered in any body of water. I asked why and she said because of pollution. There are NO laws in Kentucky that prevent family from scattering loved one's remains as they wish, of course, with respect to where they are scattered. Please know there are laws in certain states that have water beaches that ask that remains be scattered at least 3 miles out to sea to respect public beaches. This misinformation, I believe, is being told as a selling ploy to get business. I say, "SHAME ON THEM!" I was also told because of increased death rates due to drugs, terrorism etc. the companies who supply caskets and urns, as well as cost of opening and closing a plot are increasing their costs to make more money for their business. BEWARE of what you are being told by this establishment! read more
