Large rooms with a couch, multiple recliners, and stove to enjoy a fire. The views were beautiful! This place was clean with a lovely fully equipped kitchen and renovated bathrooms. The staff were super friendly. The owners loaned us pots to boil our lobster that were freshly caught by the locals. Enjoyed the sunset. Visited nearby Acadia NP. Still family owned, 1 of only 3 in the area. Our family has decided this is the best place we have ever stayed and we have traveled extensively.

Found this place on Yelp (of course!), and I was immediately attracted to its waterside location…read moreand the fact that it wasn't on the main road but on the 'old' Bar Harbor road. David made us very welcome when we arrived and gave us the orientation talk on the island, giving us a couple of local newspapers and marking down worthwhile sights on the maps before showing us to our 'cottage'. I'd actually describe the cottage as more of a beach hut (we had one of the smaller ones), but it had everything in it and was only a few yards from the water's edge with great views over Salisbury Cove. There was a porch with chairs and table where you could sit and watch the sunset. Very pleasant. Inside, the cottage was scrupulously clean, there is a small kitchen area with stove and coffee maker etc. if you wanted to eat in. It could have done with an electric kettle to make tea with, although you could use the coffee maker to boil water I guess. There's a small heater in the wall that we used a few times as we had a couple of rainy days during our stay. Best of all was the shower - great water pressure and piping hot. A great start to the morning. Followed by a cup of complementary coffee from reception, we were all set to go and explore. So thanks to David and Jayne - we really enjoyed our few days here and would gladly return in future.

There's so much character and thought placed into designing every nook and cranny of this Inn. The front desk lady was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was quite small - barely fitting a queen size bed in the room, leaving minimal walking space. Our bathroom was also very small. It had a toilet, a small sink, and a very narrow shower. We didn't mind the size of the room because we spent most of our time hiking around Acadia. The staff at Maples Inn was very kind and shared some of their favorite hikes and their tips and tricks into finding the best experiences. The lobby also has a few snacks that are perfect grab and go for the trails. Their breakfast is also tasty, delicious and cooked on order! One thing to note is that they have 2 small, gravel parking spots on either side of the inn. They will also provide a parking permit for your car that will cover street parking during the dates of your stay at the inn. During peak season, I can only imagine how hard it must be to find parking nearby though.

What a beautiful way to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary!…read more The Bayview Hotel provided us with a room overlooking Frenchman Bay. We enjoyed sunrise views 3/4 mornings. (The 4th one was from Cadillac Summit.) Our room was spacious with one of the most comfortable comforters I've felt. We had a keurig machine, microwave, and mini fridge in our room. Appreciated the heater in the bathroom. Loved being greeted by the geese family on property in the morning and afternoon just outside our balcony. Our balcony had a couple of chairs with a table. We noticed the room beside us had a couch and bar stools in their balcony. While our balcony had cobwebs in every ceiling corner (lots of spiders on the railing), we were still able to enjoy the majestic sunrise views. They serve a continental breakfast every morning at 0700. Mid-day they serve charcuterie, cookies, fruits with refreshing infused water, tea&coffee. By far this was the most serene accommodation we've had. Calm and peaceful. They provide Adirondack chairs overlooking the bay. Friendly staff~ Brad at the front desk was kind in printing our Cadillac Sunrise pass for us & greeted us every time we passed the front desk. The hotel is less than 8 minutes from the Waterfront and about 10 min to Acadia National park depending on which entrance you use. All in all would return and recommend.

The room was beautiful and spacious. The bed was also very comfortable. We stayed in one of the peak king rooms with a beautiful view of the ocean. Highly recommend booking one of these rooms. We were not able to get tickets to see the sunrise, but we were able to see one from our balcony. We also enjoyed a delicious cup of coffee out there one quiet morning. The breakfast was very good with many options to have before heading out for the day. All of the egg dishes were outstanding. They also have a shuttle service that you can take if you want to go out for dinner in town. This was our first time to Bar Harbor and Bayview but it won't be our last.

Dorothy rose was wonderful from the first phone call that I made to her. She was very accommodating of the children, and offered that they sleep on the two love seats, which made a perfect "nest" for them. The studio is in a converted barn and it is extremely comfortable. Great views, and the most well appointed kitchenette that I've ever seen! The chairs next to the water offer a soothing place to relax. The walking trails are great, with signs throughout - a "secret cabin" that the boys loved, and a beaver dam. There are kayaks that my daughter and her family enjoyed. Dorothy Rose even put out hula hoops and other toys for the boys. She has toy bins and a great collection of books and games. I can't say enough good things about Dorothy Rose and Cranberry Cove. We travel a good bit, and seldom stay in hotels - Cranberry cove is perhaps the very best place that we have stayed. Bonney D. Riverton NJ

Folks, I don't really know what to say other than 'you just gotta come here!'…read moreI love this place! I came through on a hum last year, stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Told Shirley (the owner) I would be back "next year" to help out, and here I am, Aug. 8th, 2019, sad to leave after spending 4 weeks in the grand teepee, helping out around the camp. Off route 1, into the woods, to grandmama's RV we go! But it is so much more... tent sites, group sites, great trails, and great vibe from the surrounding community. But what you really want to know is; this is a great base for exploring coastal Maine & Downeast. Now understand 2 things... Downeast is on the coast, but when the term 'downeast' is used, it is very much a reference to the culture of the folk who grew up and live here and have also known it through the generations of their family. Once you get here, you're in the thick of what "coastal Maine" really is without the crowds of Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, etc.. from Cottonwood you will find within 20 mins. Never crowded beaches with all the beauty of those other places... and you can also make a day trip of getting to Easport or Calaise and just breath in New Brunswick! Oh yeah, bring your passport... One of the other things I love about camping here, are the various small sites that are suitable for bicyclers and bikers who travel with minimal gear and need to stop for short stays. Even though its right off the road, once in, you're cast into the woods! Oh yeah, and I can't think of another camp with such a great bath house along this route... Cottonwood Camping is truly a great experience and my pick as a base for exploring Downeast, Coastal Maine, the far north on the east side of the U.S. Shirley Cotton makes it happen! She is the BOMB!!

I can honestly say this place was easy to find and very photogenic. Easy to recommend.read more
