Arcade, pavilion with activities, on-site restaurant, and spotless coin laundry (tons of machines) Paved roads (great for kids biking/scootering) and level gravel sites Full hookups with no issues Great Starlink connectivity Quiet nights and peaceful atmosphere Location: Close to Acadia National Park and the cute town of Ellsworth--check out Helen's and Momo's Cheesecakes! Also near great hiking and tide pooling spots. Vibe: This place is family-owned and it shows. Staff was kind and check-in was smooth. We attended their Christmas in July celebration and loved the live music night. Lots of friendly people and--surprisingly--tons of families with young kids. Our boys made friends and played outside for hours every day. Value: We compared 10+ campgrounds in the area and this was one of the best values for full hookups, amenities, and location. Wow, talk about going all out for your customers. We are from Washington state on vacation. We got to the park and our rig was having electrical issues. The owners and office staffed rushed to help us, and was very accommodating. We had a tech out to our site within minutes and fixed in a matter of an hour less. We have a beautiful site and they truly saved the day! If you haven't been here yet, you need to. They have lobsters, food, ice cream, arcade, pool and minutes from Bar Harbor. This is a large and busy park. At least half the park is seasonals. Kids and dogs abound during the day but it's pretty quiet at night. It's hit or miss as far as how level the sites are or how much space is between sites. The sites are mostly dirt with small gravel which will end up inside your rig. The sites in our section were staggered which was nice as we were close together. In the middle of the campground are some insanely long, not necessarily level, sites. It looked comical when a camper van was parked in one of these. Each site has a plastic picnic table and fire pit. There is no cable but you can get a few OTA. Satellite is possible in most sites. The WIFI worked pretty good - until it didn't. We ended up using our hot spots a lot. Luckily, Verizon had 4g 3 bars. They have a large laundry room, and it stays busy. There is also a small pool and playground area. The big beef that will keep us from coming back? Low voltage from the power pole. We are all electric so that quickly became a problem. Without running any heavy-duty appliances, the voltage on each leg ran around 115. Turn on an A/C and it would drop to 108-110. After our surge protection saved us from disaster after running all 3 A/Cs, we only ran 2 at a time but we were still jumpy! We notified the campground of the problem. They checked it out but they said it was within power company limits so they couldn't do anything. Huh. We talked to several other campers near us that were having the same problem. They need to fix this! Be aware that if you stay a month or longer you have to be in the same site the entire time to get the discounted rate. Electric is a separate charge. The park is close to Ellsworth with plenty of shopping. It is 20-30 minutes to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Traffic is nuts. Check out Mardens - you can always find something! Also, Hannaford has great prices on fresh lobster and will steam them for free. And they do a great job! read more

We have a 40 foot 5th wheel. They gave us a pull thru site. In this area they are absolutely no trees for shade. So with that said, if it was summer, it might be an issue. Gravel and grass site, including picnic table. Sites were pretty level. Laundromat was clean $2.50 wash $2.50 to dry. We are in late September so it was fine. Didn't like that we could not WASH our unit without being charged. You have to ask permission/charge. We didn't ask. The areas are very clean and well maintained. During heavy rain for two days it flooded in places, we were fine. It was super quiet when we were here. The area seemed close to everything we wanted and easy to find. There were a couple of KOA's down the road with more ammendites but we don't like KOA's, read more

We come back every year! We have stayed at this campground 3 years in a row now. We love it! They have golf carts you can rent, a new ice cream shack, arcade room, swimming pool, playground, etc. Saturday mornings are the best, they always have a fun craft each morning. We always try and plan our stays around some of the theme weekends. Halloween weekend is the best. Can't wait to come back next year! The campground is very well taken care of. The bathrooms are always clean and the hot water never fails me during my far-too-long showers. Timberland Acres reminds me of a tight knit community. Everyone is very friendly, weather they have a seasonal, or are staying for a few nights. The staff is very welcoming and always know where the best places to go are. The owners are known to stop by your campfire for a hello as they make rounds on the golf cart. The campground is perfectly set back from the road to the point you don't hear cars while still having easy access to grocery stores, Acadia National Park and other nearby restaurants and activities. You are basically in the middle of everything as well, your ~15 miles from Acadia National Park, Ellsworth, etc. There are great sandy beaches and rock beaches close by for families to explore. We were so pleased with our week long July vacation at Timberland Acres, we booked for another consecutive week AND the entire month of August through Labor Day. The campsites are huge, you have your own fire pit, the people are incredibly kind and welcoming and many sites are tree lined giving shade from the afternoon sun. The pool is fabulous, the themed weekends are so fun and there is an excellent mix of activities for kids and adults. The campground is only 15 miles outside of Acadia National Park, so we've spent countless days finding activities, hikes and hours of fun there. Don't forget your National Park Pass cause admission is free that way! We've also explored many off the beaten path beaches, watched the lobster men fish, sunsets on the ocean in Trenton just minutes from the campground and found it easy to avoid crowds and maintaining a safe distance during COVID. We've been to many campgrounds and Timberland Acres is one of the cleanest we've ever stayed out. The bathhouse is immaculate, the grounds are cared for daily by the nicest crew and the owners are always available to answer questions, stop by for a campfire and they participate in many of the activities offered here. Book your stay. You won't be disappointed. I know our family loves it and with two teenagers-an all around family fun vacation can be hard to book. read more

Unless you want to feel like you are packed in like a sardine can this is the place for you . The dumping station is way to close to campers, which is so unfair to those who happen to be near the one and only dumping station in the whole park. read more

This was our first time staying at Timberland and since it is not on a body of water I wasn't sure if I would like it. I was pleasantly surprised and had a wonderful weekend enjoying the pool, golf carts and friendly campers. This place was clean and quiet for such a large campground. The sites are really well tended and there are activities and things for kids to do. I can not speak for the restrooms or laundry since I did not use them but pool area was nice as was the arcade, office and pavilion. read more

We liked the campground because it was close to Bar Harbor and Acadia. We did use the laundry facility, and it was fine. They do steam lobsters they have on-site for purchase, but we didn't take advantage of that this time. The sites for people not staying extended periods of time are gravel, pull-through and level. The downside is this place is huge, but we were packed in quite close for my taste and no trees around. The shaded sites seem to be for the folks who "live" there. If we weren't so close to each other and we had shade, I would have given this park 4-stars. The owners and staff are very nice and the area is well maintained. read more

This was a 1 week stay for us -- full hook up 50 amp service for our travel trailer only 1 laundry room we saw that had 1/2 doz washers and dryers but the day i went 3 of then were out of order loads are $2.50 ea -- the WIFI here is awful worked off of cell on phone to stay connected only 2 tv stations maybe1 worked at any given time -- has a pool- game room-- outside games like corn hole and shuffle board -- sites are close together and around 200 of them -- pull through sites for transients seasonal sites get the shaded wooded areas all else is open with trees around the edges but sites are in full sun -- close to the towns of Ellesworth and Trenton and a short drive into Bar Harbor -- traffic here in the summer is very busy making a left turn out of the campground to go into Elkesworth ( lots of shopping, grocery stores,LLBean outlet and Walmart ) you will have to be patient as it is hard to make the left-- right toward Bar Harbor not an issue -- for a short say this park was fine -- they pick up trash for you daily if you have out by 10 am-- i give this a been there done that rating -- nothing jumped out at me that would have me stay here again but we enjoyed our visit nothing major to complain about read more

My husband and I stayed here while doing the touristy Acadia visit after a friend recommended Timberland Acres for a place to kick up our feet after a long day of hiking. We were greeted with friendly faces, hot showers and a place to wash our hiking clothes after a long day in the woods! Even the other campers were a delight to visit with. Park is over 50% long term. They get the shady spots. Open area is pull thru. Our site would flood when it rained with 4 inches is standing water. After our second request, they moved us but had to leave early since someone else was coming. Would not refund us for the difference. Charged us an additional $220 for electric for 29 days. Would not honor Good Sam discount on our reservation. And bring your mosquito spray. They are plentiful. Park surround by a wetland breeding ground. Nothing special about this place. And... there is one bathroom that is in the long term area so it is a hike! I would not recommend. Owners are new and while they are trying hard, they have their work cut out for them. read more

This park has terrible WIFI and you are seldom able to read e-mail, do banking etc. I was not able to make reservations for the next campground because they limit the WIFI usage. I found this terribly frustrating If WIFI is important to you, I can not recommend this park. The laundry facilities are excellent and location is fair and about 18 miles outside of Bar Harbor. The garbage is a bit of a walk but they do pick up the garbage for you between 8-10AM if you put it outside your RV. The park is located close to Ellsworth and there are a few Lobster Pound restaurants and ice cream parlors close by. read more

Traveling through Maine we stopped here for the night, we thought the campground staff was being helpful when the next morning our camper would not start and they called Bradford towing in Lamoine to "fix" our camper which he could not and said it would need to be towed and guess what, he has a tow truck and would tow it to a Chevrolet dealer 32 miles away. We thought since he was recommended by the campground staff that we would not be taken advantage of by this towing company, BIG mistake he charged us 960.00 to tow our 26' camper 32 miles. I am not sure what the connection is between this campground and the tow scammer but if you have camper problems here, DO NOT trust the staff to help. read more

Was planning to stay here and made our deposit, which they refused to give back as it wasn't 7 day cancellation in advance. Though website states under 7 days they would charge only one night! Was told I would be able to get good wifi and they had cable so that I would be able to purchase my own Wifi at my site. Arrived and was going to be placed in a small back in lot that barely would accommodate my 40' RV and NO CABLE connection. They stated I could get dish or direct tv for that, well fine if you want to sign up for a 2 yr contract when I was only going to be there for 3 months. PLUS there are trailers in there that look like they live there all year long, and back lot is for nightly/weekly. Amazes me that Good Sam gave them such a high rating. NOT worth it. read more

This place is a real dump. The owners, at least one of them (the young lady at the desk) is an outright liar and just wants to take your money. I would avoid this place at all costs. They tell you one thing and give you something completely different. I wonder if they do that to their seasonal customers also. Seriously ---- stay away from this place. Went to stay for the night for the holiday. Some of the workers are friendly but the owner just wanted our money and was not willing to even consider resolving our issue. If you take away the motto "Where friendly people meet" and just call it a campground it would be an accurate description.
