I grew up at this CG then took my family. After the Robbin's sold out to "corporate run" , requiring reservations instead of "first come first served", (& the CG was always filled peak season!), it is not the same. Tried it under new corporate run in 2025 for first time & had to pre-select our site but then with the old system, once you were on your site, it was yours. You pulled in and chose whatever open available site & then went to the office to register. Now you also have to choose ahead of time how many days. With this being said we wanted to stay an extra night. But, now we had to pack everything up & move the RV to another site (of their choice) for just 1 extra night because someone was coming in for the site we were already on for the past 5 days,... (that they also were forced to choose ahead of time). ‍ The old original system worked beautifully! Do not like the new requirements or the new jacked up prices. I was a bit concerned because of the low number of reviews for this campground, but after staying here for 3 nights, I would totally recommend. It was a last minute booking and the campgrounds in Acadia were all booked out for the nights I wanted. Happened to find this spot, and it was a great decision. The bathrooms are very very clean. They have hot and cold water sinks, paper towels, flush toilets, and outlets. They are individual rooms. There is also wifi in some spots of the campground, there is laundry available. I didn't shower at this campground, but there are also quarter operated showers. I think it 50 cents for 7 mins. I could be wrong though. There water spots where you can wash your dishes too. They ask you don't do it in the bathroom. The camp store/ front office also seemed to have a lot of amenities too and they do sell ice if you need it. There is also a free bus that picks up at the campground and goes to Acadia and also Bar Harbor. Parking can be kind of tough at Acadia and Bar Harbor (more so Bar Harbor then Acadia), so it's a good option. The only downside is the tent campsites felt awfully close to each other. Plenty of shade in the tent campsites, but not a lot of privacy besides behind your car which you'll park in front of your tent campsite. I would definitely stay here again purely because the bathrooms were so clean and felt new. read more

Great location near Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Not a bad price at $90 per night, I would have expected a good bit over $100. Sites were gravel, but it was large enough that it didn't get tracked into the RV. Sites were spacious and relatively private with a good number of trees, lots of grass, etc. Some sites are on the shoreline. There are numerous lobster pounds nearby, so dining is not a concern. It's definitely one of the closest RV parks to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, so if you have an RV and want to visit either place mentioned, this is your spot. read more

Since there are no reservations for this campground, I called and asked about the availability for tent camping during the first week in August. If you arrive around 10am, you are highly likely to get a tent spot. Had to cancel 12 days before reservation due to my daughter having a baby ... the campground would not give refund or even partial refund for my full payment I made because it wasn't 14 days before my reservation. It was 12 , they wouldn't give me a credit for a future date either . Beware booking here...if nature takes over and you can't make it, you're screwed ! read more

We stayed here in August of '24 at a basic tent site with no electric hook up. The camp site itself was extremely small and you're very much on top of other campers and close to the road. So if you're looking for any sort of privacy, this is not the place. The woman that checked us in was not very pleasant on top of that. I give it three stars because the campground was clean and the location was great if you're looking to head into Acadia NP. Lots of restaurants nearby and a short drive to the park. The bathrooms were better than I expected as well for a campground. The showers were hot and decent water pressure. read more

Well the lady who checked me in wasn't friendly and when I spelled my email for confirmation she rolled her eyes. Had to stop by office again after opening because I never received a receipt. This was a great campground with excellent proximity to Acadia and Downtown Bar Harbor. We had a spacious site (X-25) with full hook-ups. We paid a hefty sum for the location and some amenities like a heated pool and shuttle service to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The only critiques I have which aren't deal breakers (which almost made me give it 4 stars vs. 5) are they charge .25 per 5 minute shower, cold water only laundry, and no e-bikes allowed. The staff was very friendly, helpful and chatty. People like this can make or break a stay and they were amazing! read more

First of all, we got there super late and they were so kind to placed us in their overflow space. In the am they paced us in our lots and I was able to get about 6 spaces to fit my whole family. The camp is amazing, pet friendly and everyone is cordial. We will definitely go back. It's close to bar harbor and Acadia. We had such an amazing time. read more

We have camped here several times over 43 years. The owners are friendly. Bathrooms clean with 25 cent showers for 5 min which is plenty of time if you are organized. Sites are all pretty decent. Some are more prime with ocean and Mountain views. There are pits to burn firewood. Restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Most beautiful Acadia National Park just a few miles away. There are no reservations here so it's first come, first served. You drive around, pick your site, set up then go let the office know which spot is home sweet home for your duration. I recommend. Also there is a swimming pool and playground and they are good about maintaining the quiet hours. read more

This campground has been sold to a company - seasonal sites are now $12k - yes, that's right - Twelve Thousand Dollars. Tent sites with no hookups have at least doubled - depending on the site - or tripled with ocean view. They got rid of staff that have been there for over 40 years - with no clue on where/how water runs, power, etc. Summer '24 is going to be a sh*t show. Look elsewhere - this is the worst thing to happen to Bar Harbor in forever. read more

Great experience. Quiet shady campground. We stayed in the B loop which was near the gate. You could park nice and close to your tent. They also have a nice pool playground and shower areas, arcade, basketball, shuffleboard. Talked to multiple different ladies in the office and they were all really friendly and went out of their way to help you. And the Acadia national park L.L. Bean free bus picks up right at the campground gate. read more

Great customer service and beautiful campground! Several spots to choose from - ranging from no electric to full hookups. We showed up the Monday prior to Labor Day and there were several sites available - it got much more packed closer to Friday/Saturday. The showers are coin operated ($0.25 for 5 minutes), but they are HOT which was perfect during the cool evenings (do be careful and test it out before entering, though, because you could potentially boil lobster with how hot it gets). Camped here for two nights over Columbus Day weekend this year after a campsite I'd booked previously turned out to be closed. This place does not take advance reservations. Instead, you have to go there and pick from the campsites that are available. This worked out very well for me since I was already in the area and in need of a place to stay, but if I was traveling a long way during a busy camping time, that might make me nervous. There were a lot of open campsites on Columbus Day weekend though. I picked an oceanfront tent site toward the back of the campground. It was very quiet and not too far to the restrooms. There are a lot of RV sites here as well. My tent site had no shade, but it being October, I didn't want any. I could see the water from my site! There are tent sites with more shade toward the front of the campground. Showers were 25cents for 5 minutes of hot water. The pool was closed in October. My campsite felt very exposed when one of the nights turned cold and rainy, but that's the site I picked. All around I was very pleased with my experience here. read more

Love love love this campground. The staff is so friendly. It has a lovely pool with laundry facilities. It's close to Acadia. You can take the free shuttle around Bar Harbor and into Acadia. It's provided free of charge by LL Bean. The price can't be beat. Currently $40 a night for water and electric hook up! It's a no reservation campground but we arrived about 8:00 am in peak season and found several spots to choose from. People have until noon to decide if they want to leave so when you find a vacant spot, just put your camper or throw a chair on it and then go up to the front desk to pay. I have been camping for 35 years and I love this system. You can even change sites. Just go back up and change your reservation. Showers are 25 cents for five minutes. No credit cards. Cash or personal check only. Try this place. You won't be disappointed! read more

Bar Harbor campground is the best campground on the island. Clean, well maintained and friendly staff, well most of the staff. The tall, bald older man is a little rough on the ladies when they are in the shower when he needs to get in there to clean them... Craig the owner, is friendly and willing to help anyway he can . The seasonal staff workers Dick and his wife (Idaho) are super friendly and helpful. The restrooms are super clean, Wi-Fi works great and there are water faucets throughout the park. The campfire rings are cleaned often and I even saw staff using a leaf blower to clean off the roads after a storm. There is ice available as well as other camping supplies at the Front check in cabin. There is a well-maintained clean swimming pool as well as showers located throughout the campground. There is a laundry cabin that is open until 8 PM. The showers, the dryers and washers all take USA quarters no Canadian money.There are fields for picking blueberries near the pool. The campground does not accept reservations and it's cash only. I would recommend this campground to friends and will be back to visit again. read more

Bar Harbor Campground: A place where irony and hypocrisy camp along with the families there. There are strict policies where if one person complains about you (no matter what the reason is) you will be asked to leave. While this didn't happen to us, it happened to some other people there who had it happen only because the people who complained just didn't like them. No second chances. Meanwhile, the "strict" quiet hours (10p-7a) are not really addressed. One night, while the kids were asleep, the others in our party were whispering quietly around 10:30p and the man next to them came over and *yelled at the top of his lungs* that his wife and kids were trying to sleep and they were being kept up. He wasn't reprimanded for his yelling, but he did leave the next day. The next morning, our site (which was on the other side of the grounds, away from the rest of our party) got to hear babies crying, engines running, and music blasting at 4am and no one got in trouble. In fact, that very night a group of teenagers checked in and felt that midnight was the best time to drive their motorbikes and trucks around, blasting music and screaming all over the park, and again they were not reprimanded. Yet meanwhile the speed limit is 10mph, and most people do twice that, but we were yelled at by the owner for going too fast and we WERE doing 10mph. The pool is advertised as heated, and it wasn't, but it was still nice and we used it every day. Despite the sign that says "No Diving," you will need to watch out for kids (and their parents) ignoring this warning and almost diving right into you. This is kind of dangerous since it is only (barely) 6' at its deepest. There is free wi-fi advertised as well, and while we normally don't use that while camping we just wanted to try it and found it only worked within about twenty feet from the main office. Our site had three bars of signal yet only could get a local connection. A TV room is also available (along with payphones) up front if that is something you are desperately missing. We didn't try it out but we saw it when we came in. The main office has ice (overpriced) and wood (overpriced), as well as random necessities and the ability to deliver a lobster dinner for two to your camp for $30 (cooked or uncooked). I'd recommend taking a walk through the back (or driving, as there is also a back lot) to where the convenience store, Mainely Meat BBQ, Udder Heaven (ice cream) and Bay Gulls Bagels (bagels/coffee) are located for any other needs. Still pretty expensive but there is a much better selection, and the restaurants themselves are actually very reasonable. As for the sites themselves, this place is supposed to have the most private/secluded campsites in the area, so if you've only ever camped in places like the White Mountains you will be disappointed to see the sizes. Most are right on top of each other, and there are only a few tent-only spots, so even though there is a no generator rule you still may end up with a gigantic RV next to you running air conditioning all night. Parts of the grounds have more than enough drinking water, as well as access to more than one bathroom (complete with hot showers that are 25 cents for five minutes). The bathrooms are cleaned daily and remain pretty clean, and also offer dish-washing outside. There is also laundry available on site, and you can pick the wild blueberries behind the pool as an extra treat. Another thing of note: They do advertise they are only 4 miles from the entrance to Acadia, but if you end up at Sand Beach (on the one-way road) you will come out on the other side of Bar Harbor and will find it easy to get lost. Just take that into consideration! As for activities, there are tons nearby aside from Acadia (such as mini-golf across the street), and there is a boat launch down the road at Hadley Point. The owners here at least are very helpful about things to do in the area. This place may not be perfect, but for the area it is probably one of the best. read more

This was our first year camping at this campground, and we all loved it. It's only 10 minutes into town, and you have access to a hannaford, shopping , and a bunch of coffee shops. Independent Cafe being our favorite. The bus leaves right from the campground and you can ride it for free in and out of town with your pets. The playground and pool were great for people with kids to give them something to do while the adults get meals ready.:-) The showers are only$.25 per 5 minutes. The bathrooms and showers were actually cleaned regularly, and never seemed gross. There is a lot to do right in walking distance from the campground. And a lot of the Acadia sights are just a free bus ride away. If you drive anywhere around the island is small enough that you just follow signs back to bar harbor. One you are in the main town, is an easy drive back to the campground. They also provide you with a free night if you stay 6 nights. We will be back. read more

They wouldn't take reservations. We have a 40' RV with a trailer and had to use a back in spot (had to unhook and store the trailer as it and the RV wouldn't fit into the spot). The spot was without sewer and only a 35 amp service when directly across from us mini-vans were using pull thru spots with 50 amp service and sewers and not hooked up to anything. We called 6 months in advance and we're told there would be plenty of pull thru spots for a 40' with trailer and to just come on when we got heresy that was their slow time of the year (then told us it was peak season for fall foliage). Of course by then it was too late to find another site because they were all RESERVED! When we were loading up to leave we had to move out into the road and then hook up and load the trailer. A man who works at the camp came out of a female's camper (after being in there 40 minutes) and told us we'd have to move because we were in way of traffic. At that point I couldn't care less what he had to say. He was either up to no good on company time with one of the female campers or well yea that's what he was about. Yet I digress...the place wasn't bad as far as cleanliness and quietness but the staff overall wasn't helpful. read more

First year camping in Bar Harbor. It was planned last minute so we came to this campground that does not take reservations. My husband and I enjoyed our time here. The bathrooms and showers were clean although taking a shower around 7:30-8 usually had a little bit of a wait. Campsite was plenty big but not very private. People were very considerate at night and noise was not an issue at all. I would definitely come back. One thing to know is that it is cash only and the showers are 25 cents for 5 minutes. We have been coming to Acadia Park since 1968. For most of that time we have stayed at Bar Harbor Campground. We have been here in everything from a pop-up to our present 5th wheel trailer. We have always found the campground to be clean and well maintained. It has always been reasonably priced and has always had staff that was anxious to make our stays as pleasant as possible. read more

Excellent campground for very reasonable price! We were positively surprised by this campground. There are various types of campsites for small tents: Some at the small pond, some on grass close not far from the ocean, and some in the forest. We selected the latter, as the trees between the campsites provided a good degree of privacy. I estimate that the campground was ~80% booked, but it was very calm. Each site has a barbecue place and wooden benches with a table. We bought a package of firewood for $4.50 at the site, which was significantly cheaper than at the supermarket in Bar Harbor. The shower costs a quarter for 5 min, which is also very reasonable. The bathrooms were ok, sometimes a bit busy, and there were lots of spiders (oh well, welcome in Nature!) There is a nice playground close to the shore, which was great for our 2yr old daughter. The most exciting sites on the island - Mount Caddilac, Sand Bead, Echo Lake - can be reached within 10-25 minutes from the site. read more
