One star off because I wish they would do more accessible tickets e.g. rush tickets or lotteries. One of shows of the children from the school of the performing arts was, like, $20/person. Also, the Play that Goes Wrong was $50. I can see a Broadway in Chicago show for that price if you go about it utilizing the proper channels. I do not utilize the bar during shows, but they sell snacks, which are not allowed in the theater, and drinks, which are allowed in the theater.

The theatre is part of the Des Plaines Park District and what a great asset for the city. There are a handful of organizations that rent space for their productions here I think, amongst them Big Noise Theatre, which I learned about at a Park Ridge summer event and that's how I found out there's a great black-box theatre in the suburbs. They've hosted various arts companies, including dance and opera. They're also available for rent by other parties as well. Prairie Lakes has just under 300 seats and the sight lines are good; I don't think there are any limited view seats in the place. Seats were very comfortable too. Parking is ample, given its location, and free.

Try parking on the street or in the lot behind the village hall/park district building. In general, I would recommend lining up at least 30-40 mins before the show begins, for better seating. After you sit down, you have to order two items per person. We just ordered two drinks each. It's kind of an asinine rule but I guess that's how they make their money. We ordered food in the past. Ever since then, we just grab food nearby before coming. Food was okay here. The drinks are not bad, the glasses are a good size so you can sip on it throughout the show. Service was good, although it could be better. It took awhile to receive our drinks. Depending on the comedian, you can get a free picture or you have to pay for one. Overall, it's like a 3.5 experience but 5 stars for the comedian. Meh, I'll give it 4 stars.

There were a lot of parking attendants in the lot and security staff when we got there. The inside of the theater has stairs to the second floor / balcony area and stalls for drinks and food. We only purchased two water bottles $17 total which is hefty but you're not allowed to bring in food or drinks. There were only drinking fountains but no water bottles filling stations. The theater itself does not have enough air conditioning for the size so it was quite humid and hot in the space especially for an almost sold out show. The area outside the theater does have air conditioning. There's only two small elevators and the outside theater space is all carpeting. The seats are relatively small but did have good cushioning. We appreciated the balcony seats because even if you're seated behind taller people you can still have great view of the stage. If you want to be close to center view in the balcony, book in section 206 in seats 8-10. We waited a bit after the show to avoid the crush of people leaving the venue which worked out well. We had parked near the stage entrance to get a glimpse of the performers leaving and then could leave right after.

Merch?: Conveniently located in the main lobby, well displayed, and smooth to make a purchase. I had eaten dinner prior to arriving, but the concession stand looked to have decently priced snacks. The theater looks a little um, retro(?), but it was a gift to be in a beautiful theatre over a giant sports stadium. The sound quality was great, the seats were comfortable, and I could see Charlie very well, even if I chose to sit during a slower song due to the staggered, stadium seating. Traffic on the way there was a little slow due to a concert at Allstate Arena, the Chicago Dogs home opener, and Anime Central, but that was on me to be responsible and leave at an appropriate time. I had looked up the set list on SetlistFM so I knew there was no encore. As soon as that last note of "Changes" rang out into the air, I was a cloud of myself as I briskly walked to the car to get out of the parking lot, haha. They let us schedule a private performance just for my group, on a date and time that they aren't normally open to the public. Having a performance only for my group made it extra special to me. We saw Phantom of the Opera and we loved every moment! The puppets, the music, the lighting and set design, were all works of art. Justin and the whole troupe were so talented and kind. This was the first activity my group did on our wedding day (Oct 18, 2025) and it will be something we will never forget. If we didn't live 5 hours away, I'd make this a monthly activity! I first fell in love with Hawaiian culture the first time I saw the Barefoot Hawaiian dancers…read moreperform at the Tiki Terrace restaurant. I was so impressed with the dancing and the colorful costumes that I looked at their website and found they offered dancing classes, plus the classes were very affordable. The school is located in Des Plaines and have two Dance Studios. They also have a Hawaiian store that sell an extensive collection of Hawaiian shirts and dresses; as well as all things Polynesian. The classes are separated by Women's, Men's, and Children's dance classes, and they also offer Ukalele and Polynesian drum classes; as well as Fire knife Dancing for men. Shortly after seeing the Barefoot Hawaiian dancers perform at Tiki Terrace, I enrolled in their Kane (men's class) Dance class every Monday night. The owner and instructor Gwen Keneddy was very nice and patient and really knew her Polynesian culture. The classes were taught in a fun and safe environment, and I learned allot of the dances in a short amount of time. After a few weeks of taking classes, I was invited to perform with the Barefoot Hawaiian dancers at local outdoor events and parades, while pretending to be a Hawaiian native. Lol. The school provided the materials to make the Polynesian costumes, and we paid and assembled the costumes ourselves with help from the more experienced older girls (or the Hula Nazis, as they were nicknamed). I have been with this Dance troop a little under two years before I decided to retire from dancing, but overall, I enjoyed this part of my life. I will never forget the people I met and befriended during my time with Barefoot Hawaiian; it was like joining a member of a large Hawaiian family and Gwen was our mother. If you have an appreciation of Polynesian culture; I suggest you enroll in their dance, Ukalele or drum classes. You will come out with a more appreciation of Polynesian culture, and walk away with a new family. The classes are held one day a week, during the evening, and a normal semester is 8 weeks and only $10 per class.
