I had not been here in fifteen years and it is exactly the same, for better or for worse. There's still a Jager machine. I stopped by on a Saturday for lunch. It still smells of cigarettes, after indoor smoking has been banned for over twenty years. The bathrooms smelled even more like cigarettes. The bar is very typical early 2000s vibe. Everything is vaguely sticky. My daughter was fascinated. On the positive, the food was good and very fairly priced. It looks like drinks are also well priced. We had wings which were good. Cheese curds also very good but a bit overcooked. My daughter's pizza looked pretty mid but she was happy. It took a long time because they were having oven problems but the server was very responsive around it. In general our server was hustling and seemed focused on good experience. I had fun. We tried Frog town Johnnies to take advantage of a BOGO offering on a burger, WOW! What a fortunate offer. First ambiance, good old fashioned sports bar, dark, lots of screens, big bar lots of four tops along wall, very comfortable and welcoming. Staff : only one young lady was covering bar and tables ( we were there around noon) but having said that the service was awesome, friendly, attentive and efficient,. Food: we start with fried green beans, they were great big portion, crispy and crunchy with a savory Boom Boom sauce. Now the burger: price on the high side @ 14.99 for bacon cheese burger, fries extra $1.99... but the QUALITY was great! The burger was juicy, well seasoned and so tasty! One of best I've had in Toledo. Head shef Chuck does not care about customers. The bartender told him our food was to go and sauce was on the side. The food sat in the window for 10 minutes because they they did not put it in to go containers. They brought it to us on a plate and I asked that they reheat it before we go. When we got the food it was burnt and the sauce was not on the side... The bartender Chad was so nice and went back to the kitchen to ask what happened and the chef Chuck argued with him. At that point I canceled my order. The assistant kitchen manager Shai came out and apologied and gave us a gift card which i tried to decline but she insisted. Now the aggressive chef Chuck just brought us out a replacement meal and said the bartender brought us the wrong food which was a lie. I am leaving it on the bar and not taking it home.. I don't trust his judgment on replacement food. We had taco bell for dinner.... But I have to say the service at the bar staff was incredible. read more

I have been here 3 times. We have always sat at a table and we have always been the only ones sitting at a table. It is unclear weather there is table service even though we have recieve it. The 1st time was fine. The 2nd time the bartender was all smiles to the men at the bar but when she came over she was stone face and just was "do you need anything " well yes that's why we're here. Made us wonder if we were supposed to go to the bar to order. I ordered wings which didnt mention coming with anything on the menu but she asked do you want fries or tots? She led me to believe fries came with my meal and then charged me for them. Today we came in, ordered drinks and then when she came to take our order we ordered shots also. The shots never came we had to ask again. The food came out and both of our orders were incorrect. My husband was supposed to have fries but got tots and I was supposed to have hot wings. She never came back to the table until my husband was done and I had 3 wings left. I just asked for the fries and a side of hot sauce. She brought out the "hot sauce" it was French dressing. The fries took at minimum another 20 min. We were there TWO HOURS. The food is great but seriously not worth the hassel. No discount or anything for the shit show that happened. Then on the receipt they have the audacity to recommend tipping 20- 30%. She was lucky to get the 18% I left. I recommend trying to write down the order when you take it if you can't remember a goddamn thing. It's 10pm on a Sunday night, and the place is still happening! At least it's a lot MORE happening than I would have ever expected. Iron Maiden is playing in the background (but not too loudly) and there are about 600 TVs to choose from. (I'm guessing they are not always this busy on Sunday night; it probably has to do with the Tigers game being shown on 400 of those 600 TVs). Not a bad selection of draught beer, I must say. It's not the best beer selection in the city, but it's not bad at all. It's true....the barmaids hustle; they check on you every 45 seconds or so, to make sure you don't need something. The pre-fab gyro wasn't bad, but I'm not sure I'd come here just to eat. After a LONG weekend of work, coming here to "edge off" before going home is always a good choice! read more

Extremely slow service. I don't know what it is but unfortunately all the younger bartenders seem to take 45 minutes to get me a drink. Typical dive bar with cheap drinks and a lackluster ambiance. It is what it is. We played darts and had some drinks. Two positive developments over previous stops at Frogtown. First, no more big bouncer at the door, trying to intimidate the (underage) patrons. Second, the wait staff was very attentive, checking on us repeatedly. read more

Frogtown Johnnies has always been our to go place, unfortunately that changed last night. After being served our food I ordered a second Corona Light, the bottle was so slimy and dirty I wouldn't have drank out of it if someone paid me to. Now this has happened a few times in the past to me at this place and I have told the bartender and they get me another one no problem. I'm in no way expecting fine dining when I go in, that was one of the charms of Frogtowns is its a dive bar. But last night the bartender comes back and says they can't replace the beer and I would still be charged for it, but I could pay for another one. I said this has happened before and Chief (the owner) has always just replaced the beer. Well Chief was at home sick with the flu and his wife Maureen was managing the bar last night, so we asked to talk to her. Mind you all the bartenders know who we are, we go in every week, Chief knows who we are and always comes over and talks to us. Maureen comes over to us and begins to argue that the bottle isn't dirty and they don't give out free beer. I nicely said to her that this has happened before and it's never been an issue to get a new beer. She didn't want to listen she only wanted to argue, ignoring the fact that we are weekly paying customers. She berated us saying we didn't know what we were talking about and that's just the way their beer is, my boyfriend said "slimy?" Where else do you go and get a slimy beer and that's okay? She didn't have an answer, he said fine were cashing out and you'll never see us again. She did after all of this drama say fine she'd replace the beer but only this one time. But it was too late the damage was already done, we're not going to continue going to a place where one of the owners doesn't know what customer service is, and in my opinion was one of the rudest people I've ever met. It is a bummer, me and my boyfriend have been going there every week for well over two years. And we'll miss the bartenders who would see us walk in and have what we order ready without even having to ask. And we'll miss talking with Chief and watching the Michigan Ohio state game there. But there's no excuse for bad customer service and being nasty to people over something that could have been resolved so easily. It's a solid local dive bar. We always go because it's so close to our house. The plus is they give you free popcorn. The beers and food are cheap. However I've only tried the tacos late night but they were pretty good! The only downside is the last time I went on a Saturday afternoon there was a bad smell that smelled like they tried to cover it with sanitizer and bleach. read more

I've been to Frogtown several times and it's not a bad place to grab a couple of buckets-o-beer with friends. They also give you a free t-shirt on your birthday as well as free popcorn at the bar. The only thing that left us with a bad taste in our mouth's was the attitude of one of the servers there - she seemed annoyed with her job knowing that she had to get us drinks. Pretty decent place. Cheap beer and food that is good for a local bar. Watched a game here once but would not change a tv to the eagles game the other week because there were ravens fans there. Walked to paddy jacks instead (in the same plaza) and got comparable service and prices and changed the tv in front of us no problem. If my eagles are playing and the game is shown on the tv in front of me at frogtown I'll stay and have a great time. But if the owner isn't there to resolve wait staff problems then another bar is a better bet. The owner is Awesome and just needs better servers and bartenders. read more

I had a good experience the first time, they gave us a running tab with no problems, the service was good, the food was alright. The second time we went it was the exact opposite. They gave us problems about a running tab saying we needed a credit card they could hold, they didnt ask that last time. They gave us our drinks and just vanished. A random lady came and took our order, did not get us drinks and then vanished. We waited literally 20 minutes until someone came around to ask us if we wanted drinks and then asked if we wanted to order food, hello! we did already. We said, nah, we are gonna go, we been waiting forever. She then asks us if she wanted to cancel our food order, after asking us if we wanted to place one forgetting we already did. It was twilight zone kinda stuff in there. Either way I am never going back, way too inconsistent for me and the second experience was just too weird to negate the first good experience. The food is your typical frozen bar food that you only order when you get drunk and don't want to wait for taco bell. Most of the staff there is rude and constantly talk trash about the owner. To the customers. When i would over hear conversations i always thought it was crazy they would do that, until one day when i realized why. I was given a dirty glass and before i noticed, had drank about an inch of the beer. When i told the server, she said she can't replace it and that i have to go find the owner and talk to him about it. What?! Umm no. Go get the owner, like any other restaurant would do and you guys handle it. So i go around and find the owner, show him my glass and he made such a big deal about it. Argued w me about the glass and said they don't replace beer. Ha ok. After about five minutes of saying i want my money back he finally said ok, and measured out beer in a new glass, just to make sure i didn't get an extra sip! Good drinks and good food.... only ONE hang up....the brown braided hair bartender that CIRCLES THE BAR at least 100 times is a BIT TOO MUCH!!!!!! We were there for one hour and she circled the bar and asked us if we wanted "another one" ATLEAST 10 times!!!!! Makes things VERY awkward and stares at you!!!!!! Always great service, never have to wait, food is much better than most bar food. Chief or Alex are always there. I drive 20 minutes to go there, because it is worth it. They give away tickets to Lions, Tigers and Red Wings games. I have not won yet but I keep trying. read more
