The assignments she had me complete got me thinking critically (as in, analytically, not in a mean spirit...) about what I wear, well before our consultation. When she tackled my closet, I was surprised by the versatility of my existing, and fairly minimal, wardrobe. And while I was a little anxious about someone coming over and going through my clothes and style with a fine-tooth comb (kind of a personal thing!), Raquel was non-judgmental and enthusiastic; it was like having a friend over. I called Raquel because I wasn't happy with my wardrobe. No matter how much money I spent on…read moreclothes and shoes I never seemed to have the right thing to wear. Raquel taught me so many things in just a few hours of time together. It was an amazing value and I'm saving money already by not spending it on the wrong colors, shapes, styles, sizes and I think about new items in a different way - how much I love it and how many different items it goes with in my existing wardrobe. I see which items have the most value and which are expensive mistakes that wouldn't be versatile enough to wear with other items in my closet. How did it work? The approach she used in my case was to review colors (by my request) and then Style, Shop, Style. She put together a bunch of outfits from head to toe with accessories and shoes out of my closet, before I bought anything. The next step was to go shopping - she made a shopping list based on wardrobe gaps that were preventing me from making more outfits. Then we met again to style the new items. She made multiple outfits from each of the items. We set aside some items for hemming and tailoring - which I've already gotten done. I learned how to put outfits together in a batch so I don't agonize over outfit making in the mornings when I haven't had coffee. And she sent me photos of almost 40 outfits she put together in the two styling sessions. I used those photos to pack for a 10 day business trip. I picked out which outfits I wanted for different situations on the trip, and packed all the items including jewelry and shoes and I knew what to put together each day. It was so easy! I think the best part was going from not having an outfit at all to being so put together that I get compliments every day. While I feel much more self-sufficient, I still have some changes to make in my style. I want to take this to another level and I'll be working with Raquel again to achieve that very soon.

I hadn't taken professional photos since my wedding ten years ago. I always knew that if I took professional family photos, I would want to hire Katy because she also does hair and makeup. I am Gen X and 100% breastfeeding. Who else would be better at capturing breastfeeding than a boudoir photographer? Her prices are reasonable. She's about $1000 cheaper than the other photographer in Austin who also does hair and makeup. We paid $1085 total for two locations which included thirty three edited photos, hair and makeup, and three photo albums. The photo albums are high quality cardboard pages. We used the newborn photos that Katy took to order birth announcements on Shutterfly. We'll use the family photos for our Christmas cards later this year. We plan on hiring Katy again next year!
