Talk about something different!!!! I was thrilled to see how modern this place is!!! Everything looks up-to-date/new from the styling chairs, hair tools, washing bowls/seats, etc. I'm 4'11...therefore I have to scoot all the way to the bowl while laying back, which could be quite uncomfortable. The washing bowl adjusts for height and the seat reclines for extra comfort. A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I have seen many advertisements for this place, mainly on Facebook. I was experiencing a bad hair week (LOL), and decided to go to their website to book a same day appointment. Booking online was very easy, and it requires you to enter credit card information to hold appointment. It also gives you options of picking between multiple of stylists. The stylist I selected was Ty. I was able to view her work online as well. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door, which I found very welcoming. Wait time was under five minutes, which I was definitely surprised. I'm an before time/ on time kind of person, so I was extremely happy to receive service at my given appointment time. Ty was very nice and knowledgeable. She made sure I was comfortable in every aspect as possible. I enjoy getting my hair washed, and she didn't disappoint. I was satisfied with the results. I had an appointment yesterday with Damenion Wilson and let me tell you that when he was done I was in complete shock!! My hair was LAID!!! Even during the washing and drying process (btw I got a silk press) my hair felt nice - not brittle (I've had previous hairdressers make me hair feel terrible!) or weak. He combed through my hair while it was wet which made it less painful and also less breakage (once again, I've never had a hairdresser do this). The environment is clean and upbeat but peaceful. My hair has never looked so good after an appointment since the 7th grade (I got it done in an apartment in Southern Alabama). What he did was something I couldn't do at home and that's why I appreciated scheduling with him. Don't sleep on him - I definitely look forward to my next appointment. I was warned by my niece prior to going to Forever Young, that the prices were misleading, and that she paid more than she was initially told that she would have to pay to get her hair done. I went anyway to experience it for myself, with hopes that she was wrong, but from my horrible experience, she wasn't. The stylist Krystal misunderstood my request for a normal conditioner and unbeknownst to me, I was given and charged for a deep conditioner. After speaking with the stylist about it, she never acknowledged the fact that she had misunderstood my request. Instead she was argumentative and confrontational about it. Finally, Krystal's manager Reba steps up and rudely brushes off my statements and again with much condescension, rolls her eyes at me while accusing me of being wrong. As I began to speak, Reba once again cuts me off, turns to the receptionist, and adjusted the price. I'm standing there holding my baby, while being accused of something that the stylist misunderstood, as I'm patronizing and spending my money with this business. Wow. Both Reba and Crystal were extremely unprofessional, and just down right mean. I don't plan to ever patronize this business again, and with this level of unprofessionalism, the manager and stylists should undergo customer service training. I love the building and the atmosphere! It's very pretty inside and the receptionist is nice. My daughter has gone here three times, and the first two times were awesome! They gave my baby a blow out and trimmed her ends and her hair was bouncy and beautiful! This last time... I was super disappointed. I booked my baby for a protective style and was told that the 45.00 was a base pay which I did not know. So I asked what could we get for the 45.00 and the hairdresser suggested braids into a ponytail and I agreed. When I came back to get my baby, her hair was braided in the front and back, but not in the middle! It is completely straight in the middle and looked so cheap and ghetto lol. I was like, 45.00 for this! I went home, took the little bun down, which only had one bobby pin in it, and I wrapped the braided part around the rubber band and ring curled the straight part. I basically had to redo her hair. And j paid almost fifty dollars for a hood girl hairstyle that I could have gotten any teen girl in Orange Mound or South Memphis to do for me for about 10-15. Very disappointed but this does not reflect the business as a whole. They are still an excellent beauty shop. I just see that all stylists are not created equal. My appointment was set for 1:00 and my stylist (Lindsay) did not acknowledge me until 2:15. After acknowledging me someone other than my stylist washed my hair. Oh and the site claims if you're late arriving to your appointment you will be charged! If my stylist is late do I get a discounted rate!? My hair was to be straightened and trimmed. She flatironed my hair and my ends were frizzy. She had another client waiting so I felt as though she was rushing to finish my hair. Needless to say this was a waste of money. Second time I have come and told no walk in's but the site clearly says it does! Also I called and the phone rings today but goes to a busy signal. Last time I had s brain tumor removed and clearly not moving as fast was 10 min late they refused service! Ok Beauty Bar I'm done now. The service and the front desk person often shows no hospitality. Another great place opened but service not up to par. Pretty place though. I hate the owners are not at the properties more. Not to mention I drove past all the salons in Collierville to come here because this place highly recommended by my guy Autry. I found this place on social media (instagram). I watched their posts from the time they create the profile. I thought, "oh, this place is nice and their pictures look good. I would love to go their one day". That day finally came, today. I had the worst experience with my hair and I should really cut it off and start over again. I thought to myself I should not EVER pay for something like this. I remained calm and professional and paid $60 for a professional MESS. First, all I wanted was a simple....was.....straighten...and ends clipped. I'm a natural girl... so I knew I should have gotten out of the chair when she used a small toothed comb on my hair....my hair is NOT straightened. To put thinks into perspective, when she finished, she asked," do you want me to put it in a ponytail". This lady knew my hair was bad. There is no way I should have walked out of a professional setting as upset as I was. I cried in my car and I could not believe my hair was a total disaster. My ends are not clipped EVENLY, my hair is not straightened, although she fried it with the u-smoothes, it is also dry as ever, crunching and matting! So you ask, "why did you leave in this matter". I simply wanted to get out. I did not want to cause commotion. I knew that my hair was a mess and so did the hair dresser. So, for some, this salon may work. For me, I will NEVER go back and I recommend that if you are a natural African American, that you go to a salon that specializes in natural haircare. Forveryoung Beauty Bar is not the place for this. Also, there was a lady in these getting her hair dreaded (looked good). I visited the instgram profile and I saw pictures displayed of the finished product. I have experienced 3 MAJOR problems with forever young beauty bar. 1. Being that SOME not all of the stylist are dishonest and do not care about the state of your hair. 2. Declining quality of service 3. The manager does not address and handle situations in a timely manner ( no follow up call) On May 13, 2017 I went to forever young for a wash and curl. I explained to the stylist that in the past when I would get a silk straighten blow out that my curls would not last once I walked out of the salon so she suggested that she would not seal the serum and/ or use it and would just blow dry and flat iron and curl my hair. Before she washed my hair I explained to her about a dandruff/ oily scalp issue that I've been experiencing and that I also have some breakage. She did not seem to care because she kinda brushed it off. After the wash she sat me under the dryer as she worked on another woman's hair which in my opinion because I know my hair, was a no no. My hair is natural so it will only get thicker and harder to straighten, but because she was a professional stylist I did not question her reasoning/ technique. After the dryer she finished off my ends with her hand held dryer and proceeded to straighten/curl my hair. Once she was finished I noticed that my hair towards my roots was lumpy and that my hair was bone dry as if there was nothing to coat my hair before she straightened. With no time to spear (had to go out of town to meet my mother in law) I went to the checkout counter to pay and she told me that it would be $60 as if it was a true silk straighten which by my or their own definition I was not given because my roots ALL OF MY ROOTS were beyond just a little frizz but as if a had a lumpy sew-in. So I asked the receptionist why it was $60 if she didn't actually use the serum to seal and lock for a straight look and no explanation was given other than I owed $60. My hair was literally washed, blow dryed, and the straighten/ curl without any oil to protect my hair from heat damage (which has already taken effect on my bangs) or breakage (which is why I took a pause from the salon back in January) A few hours after my appointment I called back to speak with the manager and I told her that I was not pleased with my service and that I wanted clarity on the price. We did not speak for very long but she gave me a number to send pictures of my hair. She told me that she would give me a follow up call at the end of the day and I have yet to receive a call. I have called three times excluding the time I messaged them on their Facebook page but still no answer. One small yet still very major incident that I had in the past is when I came to get a silk straighten blow out by the same stylist, which was absolutely perfect; my hair was amazing and she also did a trim to get all of my split ends. Well shortly after than I went the following week to another stylist who claimed I had terrible split ends even though stylist A had already saw me and took care of that the week before. The major problem that I have there is don't like everything should not be about how much can you get out of your clients. If you actually see breakage let them/ me know and suggest that I change up my style even if it a less costing service. If I have split ends then cool trim them but don't try to cut into my hair back to back for an extra 10 bucks. I definitely respect the hustle of a stylist because my mom use to work in a salon but I would respect the hustle more if you would just be honest and not money gouging me. I use to LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this place I would recommend it to everyone on my Facebook and would even share there post or tag where I got my hair done; I even told my mom about possibly working there when they were looking for stylist because of how clean, respectful, drama free the salon was. I have been natural for a few years now and every now and then I get my hair straightened to get my ends trimmed. I have been to Forever Young on numerous occasions and usually all is well, but not with my most recent visit. I hadn't straightened my hair in 5 months and I had about a 4c curl pattern. I got my hair straightened 2 weeks ago and am just now washing it for the first time. I had EXTREME heat damage. My whole head is basically entirely straight. A lot of the original Forever Young crew has left and there are many new workers. DO NOT LET ONE OF THE NEW ONES DO YOUR SILK PRESS. THEY WILL SET THE HEAT TOO HIGH AND YOUR CURLS WILL BE RUINED UNTIL YOU BASICALLY BIG CHOP. Would give them 0 stars if possible. read more

After reading the following reviews and noticing that another customer has had a problem with the same stylist, I feel the need to share my encounter after just hanging up with the receptionist Deandria not even 5 minutes ago. I set an appointment with the stylist Lindsay for 430 via their website at about 1030 this morning for a kid's protective style . The appointment was confirmed by about 4 emails that were sent to me from this salon as soon as the appointment was made. I had a few questions about what the kid's protective style would consist of so I placed a call to the salon at 1042 this morning. I spoke to the receptionist (didn't get her name) and as I was asking the questions she called me by name and stated that she could see where I had made the appointment. Well at about 405 I just received a call from Deandria stating that the stylist Lindsey is about to leave because she did not see where the appointment had been booked until now?!?! I was VERY upset. My daughter is en route to your salon as we speak and you call 25 min before an appointment set at 1030 this morning saying I need to reschedule. If this is not unprofessional I don't know what is. Then the receptionist proceeds to lie saying that the appointment "just popped up on her screen". And when I told her that I called the salon earlier and the appointment was confirmed by whoever answered the phone, the story became, oh well I wasn't the one who answered the phone earlier, it must have been the manager". If the manager saw the appointment; how was the stylist not be aware of it?? On their site it says give 48 hours notice for cancellation or you will be charged half of your appointment price. How considerate is 25 min notice of cancellation for the customer? read more
