I had to change the bandage myself with the only set of supplies provided me by the wound center, so there is no coming back when you feel like it. My regular nurse, Mimi, has always provided excellent care. I had a problem with Maria day one. She didn't want to show at the time I requested and then didn't show at all on the day we scheduled. After a couple of days waiting and a couple of hours of interviews, forms galore, and new medications from this office, I received a TEXT. I've attached the TEXT so you can decide for yourself if you agree that it wasn't an appropriate way to end therapy. A phone call to end therapy seems more appropriate to me and at least the option to pay out of pocket. When I called, they gave me referrals to practitioners that don't even offer TMS. Fortunately one of the psychologists referred me to Dr Wycoff and Dr Hubbard. TMS has been life-changing, literally. "Hi K! This is .... from Del Mar Brain and TMS. I just wanted to let you know that I checked with your insurance again and unfortunatley our clinic specifically is out of network for your insurance plan. I know you had your intake with K, and she recommended therapy and another medication trial. Luckily, the TMS eligibility requirements are standard, and this will likely be the same recommendation from other clinics. Here is a list of a few other TMS clinics in the area. I have no issues with the Doctor's credentials, but his office's inability to get the proper approvals for procedures has been an ongoing problem for 3 years. each time my primary Doc referred me to Dr Guerin's Office to monitor my thyroid I provided a minimum of 1 month before scheduling my appointment with his office so that they would have ample time to get my insurance plan approval for both the office visit and the in-office Ultrasound service that Doctor Guerin suggested that I use instead of my normal clinic service. I had no objection to usuing his in-house Ultrasound as long as it was covered by my insurance. Over the last 2 year period I have 2 visits and 2 ultrasounds for which I paid co-pays and had every reason to believe that the books were closed. Only after the 2nd Ultrasound service was completed did I start getting additional billings for what my insurance plan indicated were un-covered services. Had his office informed me that they could not get this procedure covered, I would have never switched from my in-plan Clinic option. Rather than admit their mistake and offer to minimze or eliminate the charges, Dr Guerin's office has now referred these charges to a collection agency. I do not know what more I could have done or how I could have known that my financial interests were not being properly protected by his office staff.
