As usual, the owner, Kevin Abrew, sells his business because that's his job. He really pushed his 5 star rating in the Better Business Bureau which is a scam. The BBB doesn't do anything if the business' clients are not satisfied. His employees did a fine job in the work they did, but his business practices were suspect. He was not upfront with any additional work and costs. When you give a customer a quote for repairing and repainting cracks in your stucco the logical assumption, if you were to add on repairing a few other cracks on adjacent walls, would be that they would also be painted. Well, you'd be wrong! He gave us a quote for the additional cracks and Mr. Abrew went ahead and had his guys repair the additional cracks on the adjacent wall. Then he gave us a bill that didn't include painting. When questioned about the missing paint, he stated that it wasn't on the quote. That would cost extra. Who gets ready to leave a job site with stucco patches and no paint??? Painting was conveniently left off the additional quote so he could then charge more money after we had already agreed to have the work done. Not a good business practice, but unfortunately a common practice. He also writes up his quotes in units. Ex: "Stucco outside of house 1 unit." (See attached pic). Any contractor that doesn't itemize their bill providing pricing does so so that you have no idea of how much you are being charged for each part of the job. So if you ask to remove some element of the work from the bill, you have no idea if the reduced price is on the level as there are no references to what you are being charged for. Again, not a good business practice. It keeps the customer in the dark having to trust that the contractor is being honest with what they are charging. He even charged me 3 units for "Waiting for inspectors." So how much is a unit? How much was I charged? Your guess is as good as mine. I will say the experience could have been worse and in the end the work was done right. As for hiring someone who is upfront, honest and not ready to argue with you....I'd pick someone else.

The crew is incredibly fast, efficient, and honestly, just really trustworthy. Whenever a mistake or an unexpected issue popped up, they were completely transparent about it, walked us through the options, and asked how we wanted to proceed. As all professional and licensed contractors, it was very simple to do business with Golden State Stucco. Kirk conducted a free estimate walk through of the project and provided a fast around time with the proposal. The price was very competitive and met my budget. Once I approved it, they immediately set a date and they showed up on time and began work right away. This project took two weeks to complete. On the first day: - They torn down my horrid wood panels from the 1970's and clean up any old / loose debris. Completed visual inspection for any terminate or major dry rot. - Laid out the Jumbo Tex weather-resistive barrier and wire mesh netting. - Applied the scratch coat and add on metal window barriers to secure the existing windows. For the next week and a half: Allowed the scratch coat to cure; keeping it damp by periodically misting with water from my garden hose. As with all scratch coats, slow, damp curing provides the greatest strength. Allow the coat to dry slowly. That's the secret! On the final day: - Applied the new stucco and matched my existing texture. I was very pleased that they were able to match it. At first, I was worried... but Kirk took care of me. - Cleaned up all their mess and made sure my front yard landscaping wasn't damaged. I've worked with some poor contractors that didn't care about their work surroundings. In this case, I was very impressed with their attention to detail. Today, I am proud to have them as one of many Elite contractors for all my future home projects in the field of stucco and exterior work - Earning five stars for this accomplishment. I went with Golden State in the end, it was a little higher but some things you just don't go cheap on and this was a huge investment for me at least so I wanted the best of the best. Kirt (owner) was top notch from start to finish and even went out of his way in the to do extra touches to make the house even better, in addition to a TOP NOTCH stucco job. I love it! Kirt and I put our heads together early in the game and came up with a custom color that is so pleasing to the eye. Because of his expertise and keen eye for the details he made trim suggestions that while of course adding to the contract, only enhanced the overall look, and it just gave the house that extra "wow" factor. And me being a single woman, naïve to the process, would have never known to add "trim" and he helped with that process as well, noting what trim would look best. I'm just thrilled with my home and very happy with the entire staff at Golden State. They did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone looking to refresh an old look like I did. Previous attempts by others to patch up possible water entry points were unsuccessful. US Accurate Construction reconstructed the atrium floor from the joists up. They even used 2 layers of water entry prevention with a hot mop and a roofing membrane above it. They flooded and tested the atrium before re-installing the slates and everything was good. They also timed the project so it was completed on time, since we leaving for a long overseas vacation.Fred explained the steps of the project thoroughly before starting, as well as any changes needed along the process. I have given GMBC numerous attempts to fix the leak over the past 3 years, but the leaking persists. Two other companies have determined that GMBC did not do the work required to fix the leak and used improper materials. Moishe is the manager and refuses to resolve the issue. Horrible work. Horrible experience. Do Not Use them unless you just want to waste money!

The experience was a complete nightmare, with their shoddy craftsmanship and unreliable service leaving me deeply dissatisfied. We worked with Moshe and had numerous conversations about the quality of work but he did not care. The project initially estimated to take three months, dragged on for over a year. Here are the major issues I encountered: 1. Poor Quality Craftsmanship: The work done by GMBC was riddled with errors and executed in a sloppy manner. The foreman was rarely present, and when he was, he consistently overpromised and underdelivered. Their lack of skill and attention to detail was evident in poor flooring install, uneven paint jobs, and a complete disregard for precision. A few examples of their subpar workmanship, but by no means comprehensive: -A small deck featuring cracked spindles/railing. The wood was so discolored that we paid them more just to try to cover it up, with the end result looking even worse. -We paid them thousands to level our floor and install flooring, but the end result was warped and bouncy. After we pointed it out, they suggested drilling holes all over our new floors and trying to glue everything down. -A sliding shower door installation that was unlevel and featured a half inch gap all the way around. It was so bad that we couldn't even shower in the room without the bathroom filling with water. There were several issues such as drill marks and permanent marker drawn all over from where they made errors trying to install the first time. -We paid them to install soundproofing on a shared wall with our neighbor. Moshe himself noticed there was absolutely no change when he came over to check on the things, and could hear our neighbor's music as if it was in the same room. There was no suggestion on how to resolve or make the situation right on their end. We ended up paying thousands with absolutely no result. 2. Unreliable and Unprofessional Crew: The crew assigned to my project displayed consistent lateness and unprofessional behavior. The foreman was rarely around and the crew was often on break, resulting in wasted time. Their lack of professionalism extended to a disregard for my property and basic safety protocols. They installed a stacked washer and dryer without the provided stacking kit and when we were told it was ready for use, the washer ended up walking itself out of the laundry room and into a wall, further damaging the unit as well as the brand new floors we had installed. GMBC's reluctance to take responsibility for their mistakes and their laborers' inability to perform as professionals further added to my frustration. GMBC did eventually reimburse me for the dryer. 3. Missed Deadlines and Extended Delays: Despite GMBC's promises of efficiency, the project suffered from poor planning and an inability to adhere to timelines. The extensions of the project disrupted my daily routine and caused unnecessary delays. Inspections were missed multiple times, leading to wasted time and frustrated inspectors. I brought this up to Moshe and he told me the guy was in his car for one of the inspections and didn't see the inspector ring my doorbell. How is that acceptable? 4. Dishonest Practices: GMBC exhibited a lack of honesty and integrity throughout the project. They lied about placing an order for a specific closet door, stating that the one we had requested was out of stock but when we called the store ourselves, they had 5. GMBC just didn't want to admit that they had made a mistake. We had a similar scenario with the original shower door that they had installed where a subcontractor they sent to replace the original door stated that they had installed it incorrectly. Their poor record-keeping was evident when they failed to provide complete receipts for reimbursements. Additionally, they attempted to charge me for something I had already paid for. 5. Lack of Design Sense: They failed to deliver work of which they could be proud and omitted showcasing it on their website or social media. The solutions provided for an eyesore firewall and poorly done concrete work in the driveway were unsatisfactory. Their lack of effort to find acceptable options and costs left me disappointed and seeking help from other contractors. On top of everything, I was pregnant when the project started and then had a newborn when they were still working at the house. It was an absolute nightmare and so stressful. Moshe's attempts to fix things later were too late, and the inconvenience wasn't worth it. Eli got involved towards the end and seemed reasonable when it came to deducting items on the poor work that was done. My husband ended up fixing a number of things after they completed the job. Overall, my experience with GMBC was a disaster. Their lack of professionalism and poor workmanship make them a company to avoid.

This is my first time ever getting a counter. They stick the 'subtop' in the contract, you trust them and later they say contract is binding. Sure it is legal, but not ethical.
