After college, and entering the working world, it felt like it was even harder to connect with others. That is why I was so pleased to have found CrashSpace. Everyone has been so nice and welcoming. I truly felt like I could be myself and be accepted. CrashSpace has a lot of tools and machines to work on your various projects. But more importantly, CrashSpace is a COMMUNITY of people from diverse backgrounds, disciplines, and experiences. I think the biggest asset has been the knowledge base that the whole community has and shares with each other. CrashSpace is volunteer run and you can tell that really passionate people invest their heart and soul into keeping this organization alive and thriving. CrashSpace is very active with regularly occurring weekly events, monthly meet-ups, and hands-on workshops. It seems like there is always something fun going on at CrashSpace. If you're an artist, maker, DIYer, designer, techie, programmer, cosplayer, tinkerer, engineer, educator, STEAM fan, I think you'll really like CrashSpace.

There was no clear leadership response or removal. Separately, I was invited by a member to an off‑site party connected to this community. After that event, I experienced sudden disorientation and memory loss inconsistent with my alcohol intake. I went to the hospital, was evaluated for head trauma (none found), and the attending physician concluded I was most likely drugged (e.g., roofied). What was most alarming was the response afterward. Rather than concern or accountability, multiple people connected to this group aggressively pushed a narrative that I "just got too drunk" or "hit my head," even after being informed of the medical evaluation stating otherwise. The takeaway was clear: when something serious happens, this community protects itself -- not women who are harmed. There is insufficient leadership, security, or safety protocol to protect members, especially femmes. If your personal safety matters to you at all, I would strongly recommend steering clear.

A few months ago i had emailed them the first time about a quote, they had their partner company email me and it wasn't like a few hours wait time for a reply, every time i emailed them i would have to wait 3-4 days tops for a RESPONSE. A few months later, after researching many printer designs and different brands, I ended up purchasing the big brother, of the Bukito, called the "Bukobot." Since all of this was new to me I thought excellent technical support was critical. Deezmaker is open seven days a week, and you can reach them by email, or by phone, or if you're in the area, in person. Every time I've needed help with something, I've gotten immediate assistance. Best of all, everyone there is not only knowledgeable, but friendly, with none of the attitude that sometimes crops up when you're a beginner asking an expert for help. I've been to the store a dozen times, whenever possible I go to their monthly Meetup, and again and again I've seen a willingness to answer even the most naïve questions. This morning I discovered that a part on my 16-month-old, heavily used printer, had cracked. I drove out to Pasadena, hoping they would have a replacement in stock. Not only did they have it, but they encouraged me to do the work myself while I was there, and provided helpful suggestions, and even let me use their tools to make the repair. If you have any interest in 3-D printing, or simply want to understand something about the mysteries of it, stop by their shop. You will feel truly welcomed, and if you want to delve deeper, I strongly recommend the class they offer, called, "Zero to Plastic," which is a very thorough and well presented introduction to 3-D printing. I've had a lot of fun with my Bukobot, and it has turned into an essential tool in my design studio.

I had purchased a used laser from John over a year ago, and the transaction went fine at the time…read more I found out later that he had given it to me without the keys to open the inside electrical panels. When I broke the laser cutter by running it and forgetting to turn on the chiller, he came out to diagnose/fix it. The panels couldn't be opened, so he broke into them - with my permission - using a hammer and screwdriver to jimmy the lock. He then checked the electrical panel, and showed me a crack in the laser tube - telling me that was the problem. It may have been the case, but I'm not convinced the crack didn't occur during the hammering of the locks. Since I needed the laser repaired, I decided to proceed with getting a new laser tube that John would install. He removed, with my assistance, the old laser tube, and charged me $200 for the work, which took less than an hour. I have no problem with the fee, because it was a house call and the repair required specialized knowledge, but the subsequent conversations by text about getting the new laser tube are where things went off the rails. John texted that I'd need to pay $400 for a new tube, then 30 minutes later sent another text to say that it was actually $450. When I asked for some reference to show that it was the actual cost of the tube he became extremely evasive and untruthful, then went silent for two days. The whole conversation made me very nervous, and I cancelled the $200 check I'd written because I began to believe he was trying to rip me off. I told him I'd pay the full amount, including the $200 upon restoration of my laser cutter to a working state. He became very upset by this. The entire text message exchange from start to finish is attached to this review. I don't know if I did the right thing by cancelling the check, but I didn't feel I had any other recourse if he was trying to scam me. In the end, I decided that we needed to resolve the situation, or I needed to find someone else to fix the laser cutter. I attempted to repair the interaction by paying him the full $200, plus another $18 to cover his check bouncing fee. He sent the invoice for the $218, but has not communicated in any other way. I'm attaching a copy of the entire series of text messages. The middle part of the exchange is where he became very cagey and evasive, and, I believe, tried to scam me. I will find someone else to fix my laser cutter, or figure out how to do it myself by following a video. Unfortunately, this experience with John and American Laser Company leaves me no other option.

Ah Chanel. The name alone evokes a certain je ne sais…read morequoi, French for "...an indefinable quality that makes something distinctive or attractive". Chanel the brand, named for Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel, remains as fashionable and formidable as its namesake. This pop-up event was at the White House on Sunset, which also hosted our previously attended 50 Shades of Grey pop-up. As we had been here before, we knew the deficits of this location: no restroom (and all these ladies!!), no ventilation and very cramped spaces full of ladies in high heels on a rainy day. This pop-up was to celebrate the launch of the brand's user-generated beauty Instagram community, @welovecoco. The celebrities were all in the house on Wednesday night, but we had to wait for the free tickets via EventBrite for Thursday - Sunday, March 1-4. There were various themed rooms, a photo booth, a pearl-filled bathtub, a makeup mirror that changes your lipstick color as you stare into it, a bed with mirrored ceiling, a swing photo-op, a makeup room with Chanel lipsticks, glosses and crayons were you could try on colors to your heart's content. There were popsicles with lipstick shade names and once the rain stopped, an outdoors makeup experience with National Chanel representatives! My makeup artist was Fred from Florida and he was, in a word, fabulous! He slathered Chanel pink on my waiting lips and showed me how to use a lip crayon and fingers to properly apply blush! He's been with Chanel for ten years, and I appreciated not only his friendliness but also his expertise! No one has ever shown me his blush blending technique using your own fingers before. Loved it. I was hoping that the $37 Chanel lipsticks would come with maybe a 10% discount, but alas, no such luck. They were sold at full retail price plus tax. My favorites were: Rouge Allure 99 Pirate, Rouge Allure Ink 140 Amoureux, Le Rouge Crayon 8 Cassis and Rouge Allure Velvet 40 La Sensuelle. Yelp Challenge 2018: 23/100

This was a fun, rock-band based soiree located at Bar Marmont. February 2018, I receive another invite for another CHANEL event, this time at its own Beauty House! Needless to say, I'm in; placing my RSVP for early afternoon opening day. I wasn't sure if parking was provided as it was a couple years ago, so I knew where to find my secret spots in the area since I spend a lot of time over this way. I arrived a little after my designated time. Check in was a breeze, and I was handed a helpful guide of the house. Thankfully this was a rainless day so 'The Garden' area was in full-effect. First stop was to get a touch up under one of the color-coded cabanas, my choice being the red zone. After a brief wait, the friendly artist asked what I was looking for and she went to work. Finally, she handed me a little booklet, asked me to kiss it (of course I nearly missed) and she then provided the shade in the form of a sticker next to the imprint. A very cute idea to remember the colors that you liked! Also on this particular day, lip products were available for purchase right next to the red cabana where I was getting touched up (I believe they had to move this inside on subsequent days into the white room due to the inclement weather, making this more crowded inside than it was intended to be). From then on, it was best to just wander the rooms at your leisure, from the 'Declare with Coral' pearl-filled tub bath to the 'Provoke in Pink' canopy bed. Off the 'bathroom' was the swing room photo booth. The quietest area was the dark-colored 'Dare in Neutral' bar area, which I don't believe served any beverages but they had an oversized vat of No.5 on the top shelf. The poor 'bartender' looked so bored but he gave me one of the cool CHANEL coasters he was fiddling with when I asked. I think off the 'Rebel in Red' room, there was an unlisted white room with a glass coffee table overloaded with lip glosses; I did have to upload that video since that was the first time I ever wanted to destroy a coffee table... The only room I really missed was the 'Inspire In Berry', which seemed really cool since you could virtually apply any color to your lips (minus the wiping and staining we do in real life). Otherwise, I feel I experienced most of the rooms the best I could considering there was quite a crowd, and everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves. So glad I made it to my second CHANEL beauty event, and especially happy that it didn't rain this day! The only regret is a minor one in that I missed out on the popsicles.* If asked if I have a favorite room, that would be the equivalent of asking what my favorite CHANEL lip color was, so I really can't give a solid answer. To be safe: All of them. *Would have gotten this all over my clothing anyway.
