As Ketchikan had the best prices in Alaska, this is where we purchased most of the gifts to bring back to friends and family. Anything from Russian nesting dolls to polished rocks. I stocked up on coasters and shot glasses. Many designs to choose from. Aside from all the cool souvenirs, they also have a candy store within. They carry jellybean, chocolates and many boxed novelty candy. The staff is super friendly and helpful. As we purchased over $100, we got a cap and shopping bag as gifts. If you're on a cruise and are looking for places to shop, this store has the best prices!

I knew I had to stop once I saw ice cream was involved since you couldn't get it on the princess cruise which is where our group came from. With about 30 min to spare before boarding for takeoff, I dipped in here for a scoop of huckleberry ice cream in a waffle cone. I knew I was in heaven after the first lick, it's smooth and creamy with some firmness and the flavor of huckleberry comes through. That flavor isn't back in D.C. so it was a treat in the AK. No sandwiches or coffee/espresso since I could get that on the ship but they look tasty and efficient. Stop in here and get your fix if you're here!

The ladies behind the counter were so lovely to deal with. My friend was obsessed with a specific brand of dark chocolate locally made in Alaska, so we were happy to see they had several flavors stocked. It's adjacent to a hotel lobby but the entrance to the store is visible from the street. Great place to pick up some souvenirs of Ketchikan.

Some of the donuts we got were still warm, and the difference was remarkable. A fresh, warm donut went from "that's pretty good" to "okay... now I get it." The texture was softer, the glaze melted just enough, and the whole thing came together in a completely different way. So if you have the choice, ask what's fresh out of the oven. The crab was ok, honestly tasted like the much much cheaper snow crab to me, wasn't worth the cost but still part of the Alaskan experience. The crab cake was pretty small, good but small. The chowder was pretty thick and gravy like from chowders I've had. The food was good, nothing worth going back for, but good for the experience. This is where we go from a 3-4 star review to a 1-2 star review. I'm being nice. When the check came they added a 20 percent auto gratuity. I usually do 20% but when it's a single combo plate and the majority of the plate is one thawed crab leg.... Come on , really!!! Do an auto 15% maybe 18% with the option of adding more. That's the standard. What got me was a 4% service fee. I asked what it was for and the employee told me ," we don't get that, I guess it's for the kitchen staff or the owner, I don't really know". Why am I paying a service fee for .... Well nothing! (Crab legs are about $100 each which is the average price ) so $4 per crab leg goes to the evil greedy owner. So $4x 8 legs on a crab = about $32 per crab just because . Tax... expected and the law. But a credit card fee.... Even for debit (against the law). Not looking so good for the owner. So to sum it up Food was good, nothing to celebrate about. I actually can't complain about the service , it was good. But the extra fees are where the ship sinks. Stop taking advantage of tourists and your restaurant won't be empty, and it was very empty when I was there. Should have seen it as a red flag . Do better!!!

When we finally got it about 20-25 minutes later they said it was because of the burger, so know that before you order. Thankfully the halibut sandwiches were really good and we loved them! The shakes we ordered were good too but they weren't thick at all which I was disappointed with. I don't think I'd order one again.
