My next door neighbor alerted to me this place and I'm so glad. I picked up four dining chairs (sometimes they are priced as a package deal with a table, but these were actually priced individually and separate from the table). I thought about getting some sort of lounge or easy chair to read in but I haven't converted to Maine vehicle yet, so my Mazda wouldn't fit it. Next time! A gorgeous coffee table also caught my eye, so that item was also purchased. I had to make two trips, but hey-ho. I think prices are great. Obviously, you're getting used items but isn't there something really charming about having furniture that has been lovingly used? (As long as it doesn't smell like a dirty fart) You could go the route of IKEA and I have totally done so on occasion, but let's admit it, most of that crap is crap. Old used furniture was made with love. I can imagine that prices may have climbed in the past few years, though I only have Chicago Salvation Armies to compare it to, and I think the prices are still better here than Chicago five years ago. Stuff probably comes and goes fairly regularly so don't feel defeated on an initial visit. I will definitely venture back here.

I usually find that the appeal of a consignment store really rests in the eye of the buyer. With that said, Starry Eye's consignment collection is small yet particularly selected with a great many beautiful, quality items at reasonable prices. I should also mention that in addition to clothing, they have a great selection of shoes and even some quality toys and puzzles! I have purchased many gifts there for friends having babies and always get a "where did you get this?" when bringing a gift from Starry Eyes. Tip: The store does not necessarily wrap gifts, but they have adorable bags and tissue paper and are usually happy to fix something up for gift giving. Tip: They do have odd hours, so call ahead!

I'm so glad I stopped in! They had a variety of designer-brand jeans at discounted prices and the assistant was extremely helpful. When I struggled to find some that fit "just right", she brought a few pairs and even suggested that I try a smaller size--I guffawed (really? that's flattering she'd think I'd fit into THOSE, but hahah, yeah right!)--well, they ended up being PERFECT, and I walked out with those jeans in my hand. It can be hit of miss so sometimes you go in and find nothing and other times you go in and love everything. It all depends on what they are able to get in stock so you have to give it a couple of chances before you write it off. They have AJ jeans which are my favorite and they are usually around $300 but sometimes you can get them for as little as $40 which is amazing. I have also found Frye boots there for $50 or so. The women who work in there are super friendly and super helpful as well so it always pleasant to go in there. Whenever I am shopping in the Old Port I try to stop in there first to see what I can find before I go spend a fortune at the other high end boutiques downtown. If you are local check back regularly because you never know what steals you might find. :)

Despite the big selection it does not feel over crammed like some vintage/antique spots do. So even if they are busy plenty of room to move around. They have it set up almost like little different rooms with different tables, couches, and/or other furniture with other art or pieces on display too. It's a really nice way of displaying their inventory with enough space for it to all be admired. While we were planning to browse and not looking to buy anything especially larger items. Due to this we did not check prices of the furniture or anything larger. They do have smaller items you can see from some of my pictures. So even those looking for a lower priced purchase you can may find something you like. We did end up purchasing a butterfly trivet as a gift that was reasonably priced. Worth checking out to even just browse their variety of antiques and vintage items.
