On July 30th, I found kittens by my shed. Two of them were injured with what appeared to be ulcers at their cheeks (turned out to be bot flies). I have never had kittens or cats before, and panicked calling multiple rescues- most replied that they were closed & full. My neighbor lent me contact info for a person in this group (Forgotten Paws CT) who has helped her before. I reached out to her, and she said she would come get the 6 babies that were safe in my house (4 weeks old, eating on their own). The mother was nearby, but I was unable to trap her. I asked her about keeping some of the kittens I found- she told me I would have to buy them back at $250 EACH if the agency she was giving them to approved it. I told her I was making emergency vet appointments and would keep three of the kittens (which is as many as I could give a good home to). She was noticeably annoyed and repeatedly lied regarding laws. Several hours after I called, she showed up, took the kittens, tried to catch the mother and couldn't, and brought the kittens to the vet as well. I thought that was pretty standard- but then the rescue she gave the kittens to posted that the kittens were stolen from their mother and all this nonsense. They continued to use MY pictures to advertise the kittens. They repeatedly lied about alleged animal laws to not allow me to care for the kittens, despite the vet stating they would do great in my care. After MULTIPLE attempts at telling them not to contact me, they started reaching out to other "rescue groups" to contact me for the kittens. It is extremely disappointing that agencies like Forgotten Paws and Enfield Community Cat Project (the rescue the three kittens were given to) deceive animal lovers by posting false narratives, asking for countless donations when they clearly don't care about the animals, and lie to try to deter adoption! Turns out, Tiffany constantly posts that she's trapping and rescuing animals when in reality many people have called her to just come pick up the animals they have already trapped. Then they wait for someone to exchange money for the animal. I really should have done my research before calling this agency and leaving these poor kittens with them. BEWARE! This is an unethical organization who does NOT CARE where their dogs are placed. They were pushing dogs onto people with zero regard for their experience with animals or their living situations. I adopted a dog from them. I was told that she was 4 years old, had no history of medical problems, was fully vaccinated, and was house-broken. SHE WAS NONE OF THOSE THINGS! The dog I adopted from them is 10 years old, has arthritis, gum disease, and a tumor, was missing her bordatella and parvo vaccines, and was far from house-broken. They lied about her history and age in order to push this dog onto my partner and I. It is a good thing that we are experienced with senior dogs and have the resources to provide her with the MULTIPLE SURGERIES and medications that she needs to live a normal life. My partner and I also made it clear that we needed a dog who was okay with other dogs, including very large dogs. We have another small, senior dog in our home and regularly house sit for my parents' dogs who are 80 lbs and 100+ lbs. They disregarded our questions and concerns regarding how suitable she would be interacting with large dogs. They told us that they didn't care how she acted with large dogs since her primary home would be with us and another small dog. We were completely taken aback, considering that taking the dogs to the ranch is a regular part of our lives. Once again, we are very lucky that she has had minor issues with the big dogs so far, but we still cannot leave them alone together. We were told at the time of adoption that should any issues arise with house-breaking, kennel training, behavioral issues, etc., we would receive support and help with training as necessary. We reached out to them and did not receive any response. When we adopted our dog, I had a horrible feeling that they were an untrustworthy organization. I wish I had listened to my gut. We love our dog, but this organization is a SCAM Update: I am so glad that we took this dog home, because I sincerely doubt she would have received the care she needs with this organization. She was just diagnosed with congestive heart failure (something that has been building up for several years now) and my partner and I will be keeping her comfortable and monitored though the end of her life. I cannot believe that they would not screen the dogs with thorough vet appointments and feel comfortable sending them home with just anyone who may or may not have the knowledge and the means to provide proper care. Also, I can't believe I never mentioned this in my first review: they were adopting out several puppies who had been spayed and neutered only two days prior to the adoption event! These pups were obviously still recovering from surgery, and they were letting people pick them up. Shameful. read more

First, I have to say I absolutely love the dog I adopted from Forgotten Paws. This review has nothing to do with her, and everything to do with the rescue staff. I agree with the other negative review on here that their staff is incredibly pushy, and seem more interested in getting rid of dogs than making sure they are placed with the correct home. When I told staff I wanted to introduce my dog, and even my partner, to one of their dogs before bringing her home they tried to convince me that was unnecessary and even pretended another family was coming to look at the dog so I should adopt her that very day. They also downplayed medical details about my dog - she very obviously has cataracts, and we quickly realized that she's partially blind. The rescue tried to claim she doesn't really have cataracts - even though that's what her vet paper says AND we can literally see them! Additionally, she ended up having a parasite - which isn't a big deal, but when I reached out to Dawn to ask whether lab-work had been performed before she responded with a bunch of questions that struck me as really bizarre and unnecessary.. like: "why did you take her to the vet? What vet are you using" etc. In general their manner has just been really abrasive and incredibly sketchy. IN SUM: if you don't have financial flexibility and can't afford to adopt a dog that may have serious medical conditions, DO NOT adopt from this rescue. I do not trust them to be honest about their dogs health or even behavior. If you go to an adoption event, be prepared to stand your ground and not be pressured. Look carefully at the medical papers and don't let them tell you alternative information. read more

I have gotten two dogs from Forgotten Paws Animal Rescue and they are the best dogs we have ever owned! The rescue saves dogs from being euthanized in Los Angeles shelters. They foster the dogs and dedicate their time to finding homes for them. They are very knowledgeable and trusting of potential adopters. I saw a negative review and I have to say, I don't know where that came from and there must have been a good reason why the customer was told she wouldn't be a good fit. I've always had beyond positive experiences with them. I would highly recommend their rescue. :) read more

WORST adoption experience of my life! Adopter BEWARE. THis is NOT an ethical rescue organization. The owner doesn't care if animals are placed in fit homes and does NOT honor the return policy in the contract. Horrible experience dealing with this organization. Would NEVER recommend. Dawn and the group are nothing but honest, caring and ethical. The dogs are loved and very well taken care of. We got our little pup last year and she has been amazing. We go to see them and have her visit her foster parents almost every weekend. She loves to see all of them. Great organization and great people!! read more

I currently have two elderly weiners in my home (I have three dogs of my own, by the way) with a pitbull in the home of a co-worker (who has her own two pitbulls) while their owner recovers in a local hospital. If it weren't for the two of us, these three dogs from this rescue would have been "forgotten" with nowhere to go. My coworker reached out to this rescue and advised them of this medical emergency and asked for foster homes, with none forthcoming. It seems once the animal is yours, their sense of responsibility to the animal is at an end. Not terribly impressed. read more

After loosing our 13 yr old dog to old age our family is finally ready to start looking at adding a new furry family member to our house. I saw that forgotten paws sets up in front of unleashed in Bressi Ranch on Saturday's. My husband and I took our 3 kids to look at dogs and to ask questions about adoption, the lady in charge wearing the visor was beyond RUDE!! We had asked about a puppy we saw on line, she told us we didn't have time for a puppy since we had 3 kids. She added that we didn't know how hard it was to take care of a puppy and it wouldn't be a fit for us!! She said basically we would have to fill out adoption paperwork to see if "we even qualify" before she would answer anymore questions. We had told her our middle child had horrible allergies and the specialist said she needed a hyper allergenic dog, she told us dr's didn't know what they were talking about and they're just mad because they couldn't cure anything!! Also proceeded to tell us our daughter didn't have allergies because she was next to a dog and wasn't sneezing or getting a rash! These are only a few of the extremely rude things she told us while treating us like we weren't good enough for her precious time, we finally had enough and walked away. Our daughters 8 & 5 asked why she was so "mean & rude" maybe that person shouldn't be working with public let alone poor dogs looking for forever homes!! Unfortunately even with all the dogs they have that need homes we will not be adopting from them and will be spreading the word! read more
