First time here since the redo and everything was delicious. Grilled Octopus app was outstanding paired with bleu cheese, pistachio and nduja salami. Entree was seared Duck with heirloom carrots wilted spinach and brussel sprouts and a tangerine sauce. I did $40 price fixe which included dessert, my companions diner ala carte. One had the Veal chop and the other the poached Halibut. I would highly recommend checking it out. read more

My mom, grandmother, and I came here for dinner last night and had a great experience. We were celebrating my grandma's 90th birthday and our server, Mimi, absolutely made her night. She was incredibly attentive and friendly, very knowledgeable, and was so service oriented! We had a great time both because of her service and all three of our steaks being cooked to perfection (rare, medium, and well done)! I can't wait to come back and try the prime rib my grandma raves about! read more

This establishment has great food, excellent service and pretty good ambiance. Great venue for business dinners. I don't yelp every restaurant I visit, however the service was so remarkable that it is worth sharing my insights for other future yelper. Our waitress, Jackie (a Chinese mom) was absolutely incredible, she was entertaining, funny, charismatic, very personable and provided solid recommendations for both wine and food. You know what... I thought she was the owner by the way she carried herself. As for the food, I tried the prix fix dinner, with seafood chowder, long island duck, and apple pie. Definitely a solid deal for a $29. $26 if you arrive before 6:30 pm. I hear the Imperial Crab entree is to die for... and it is creamy. My dishes were delicious! All cooked to perfection! After driving around a little bit without ANY signs showing where the restaurant is, we finally found it by asking the front desk. The restaurant is very old school .. almost as if it were a cigar room for millionaires. Dated decor. However, the service and food was AMAZING. I was very impressed. The room was quiet, and more for a 50+ age group couple, but I must say the food and service overrid all of the negatives. I'd like to come back in the summer. read more

Can't believe that there aren't any reviews of this place yet! It's amazing! Great, old-school money style decor, great food by an award winning chef! This was an amazing experience time and time again. It was very romantic on our anniversary dinner, the arf was playing and the filet mignon and different variety of appetizers and entrees were all delicious, nothing spectacularly original, but all cooked to perfection. This is a great place for a business traveler or a romantic dinner alike, a true gem in a richy suburb of Philly. I try to come anytime I travel. read more

Went here with my boyfriend for dinner, we had a Groupon. He ordered the prime rib, I ordered the filet. Both of us enjoyed the food, the service, and the atmosphere. Everything was good, but I wouldn't say great. For around $30 a meal (and an average size portion) I don't see us returning for just a good meal. The Hunt Room is becoming our go-to for lunch meetings. The food is delicious, and the service is top notch. The mac n cheese app is delicious and great for sharing. The bread pudding is amazing. read more

My family and I braved a snow storm to get to the Hunt Room. Glad we did. Our server Eldie was great and her recommendations were spot on. We left with the bread pudding recipe. The price fixe menu worked great as well. We used a Groupon which worked great as well. read more

It was our 1st time at The Desmond and weren't sure what to expect. We've heard mixed reviews about the restaurant but I can tell you after being there, that I'll be back there and very soon. Most of our excellent experience was do to the fact that our service was amazing. Our server named Elide was exceptional and very friendly. We enjoyed our meals and took advantage of their prix-fixe menu, which was prices well with a number of excellent items to choose from. I plan on buying a couple gift cards for others to experience a wonderful restaurant just as we did. And I plan on telling them to ask to be seated with Elide. read more

Tucked away in the Desmond hotel in malvern is an absolute gem! Every aspect of my dinner was phenomenal. Their bread pudding is to die for (and I was not a fan before I tried theirs). It's pricey but it's absolutely worth it if you want the atmosphere it offers along with amazing food. read more

They do have good food and the crabcake is one of the best in the entire area. They do have one policy I just don't get. Went there for lunch on Saturday and walked in at 11:50 AM. Hostess said that they didn't serve lunch until noon, but it was only 10 minutes away so sat down anyway. Sat and sat and sat and finally at noon I asked if we could get something to drink. The hostess got some iced tea and said now that it was noon a waitress would be over shortly. Dear god, are you telling me that the people that were there for breakfast and brunch could get served from the kitchen, but for the sake of a few minutes they refused to take a lunch order? Yep, no ordering lunch until noon or after. I almost left, but I figured by the time I went somewhere else I might actually get served here. At 12:15 another hostess came over and asked to take our order. Like I said, the food is good although this time I had the fried oysters with chicken salad instead of the crabcake. Have to say it was probably better than Legal Seafood. Anyway, if you go for lunch make sure you don't walk in before noon because you won't get served. read more

Always liked the Hunt Room , but in the last few years what used to be a decent sized cooked down 8 oz Filet more closely resembles a beef medallion. The quality is there but the quantity is significantly lacking. I think they are way overdue for a Pa. Weight & Measuring visit to check their scales !!!!!! read more

The venue was nice but our experience was horrible. There was one faux pas after another. I got a Groupon and I told the person who got my reservations that I had one. She asked if I would like to sit outside. I've never been to this restaurant before so I don't know what their set up looks like. She said she will place me inside and if I change my mind to just let the server know. So when we got there, the outside looked more lively (there was a band playing) and brighter, so I asked to move outside. We were given a sheet for menu (kids menu was not provided) and was left alone for the next 15 minutes. There were staff people who walked around us and ignored us. I saw other customers who came after us and staff immediately asked their orders. I had to ask 3 people if somebody could take our orders. I also informed one of the 3 that I have Groupon only to find out that they would only accept it if we were in the Hunt Room. I didn't know that the outside area was a different restaurant. The person, however, added they will accept my Groupon because I was misinformed. After 20 minutes, somebody finally took our orders that came 40 minutes after. We were famished. On top of that, the food was not delicious, bland and plain. If there was a silver lining, they only took my Groupon and didn't let us pay for the rest. Our orders were definitely over my Groupon amount. They knew what they did wrong. Nevertheless, this will not make us go back. Our overall experience (poor service and bad food) superseded the freebies we got in the end. read more

Solid Four Stars! We made a reservation through Open Table with special instructions and everything was perfect upon arrival. Kelly G was our waitress and she made the evening. She was very personable and made some excellent menus suggestions. The food came out quickly and was delicious. The atmosphere was perfect for our special occasion. The recently renovated main dining room with its new atmosphere and new menu add up to an unfortunate unpleasant change. Atmosphere: What was once warm and inviting is now cold and noisy; new low chair seating brings the table up to your chest - awkward. Menu: Warm assortment of rolls and brochette has been replaced by bread with carrot paste and whipped cheese; menu selections once dependable traditional fare are now more sophisticated unappealing entrée combinations with limited ability to make substitutions. Servers are even unable to produce a slice of tomato or onion for light fare selections like a hamburger or turkey club - dried tomato spread just does not cut it! Help: The restaurant manager remains disinterested in the patron's experience, responding coldly to any request/comment, "I will pass it along". The loyal and truly wonderful waiting staff remain there - for now - but are obviously as upset and unhappy with the changes as the "regulars" who have opted not to return in great numbers. Only two tables were occupied when we were there - a sure sign of the misdirection this restaurant has taken. Sadly, we have removed Desmond from our list of places to go. read more
