This place has a maximum of 40 seats so set back and relax the seats maybe worn out but the food is awesome my favorite isn't on the menu ask for the pork schnitzel. The waiters are very attentive Jerry is outstanding. Please be patient they're doing the best they can. They have wide selection on their menu it's all good. Don't forget a wide selection of deserts wonderful cakes. It's a hole in the wall enjoy. read more

The service was good felt like walking into an old family made restaurant. They were very nice and friendly and also made up an order that my son would eat he had a great experience!! The food was great double cheeseburger fries home cooked can't beat it. First time being there, I ordered the chili bowl my two-year-old daughter had a mac & cheese. My wife had the French dip and her sister also had the French dip. Our waiter was nice. It was a pretty good experience and I like the food I give it 10 out of 10 and a thumbs up. :) read more

I had the Bean (Brown Beans, greens, cornbread and a cup of onion soup. All were very good. My wife had a burger and fries and it was very good. It was packed, locals just kept coming and coming. But, if you your nose can sniff out sweet things - be ready! Some of the best cakes I've seen in quite a while. Folks just kept coming in to get a piece of cake! This place was an absolute joke. I came in with my sister and grandma. I got the fried pork chops fries and Mac and cheese. The pork chop was more fat than meat the fries were cold and tasted freezer burnt and the Mac and cheese was dry crunchy and burnt. My grandma ordered the chicken Parmesan described as "Fried chicken breast smothered with sauce and provolone cheese on a heap of spaghetti" she took this as it had a cheese sauce. when it came out with red sauce full of onions and peppers which she can not have we told the waitress she can't have that and asked for a menu so she could order something else and asked them to take that back. She was very rude and said I can ask him but he's not gonna take it off. She boxed it up and brought it back and said he wouldn't take it off. We asked to talk to the manager and she said I can ask but he probably won't come out. He never came out and she never came back except to give us the check. The food was mediocre at best and the service was the worst I have ever experienced. I have never been to a restaurant where a manager won't come talk to a customer and where they won't take back a dish! Especially one a person CAN NOT EAT! Absolutely ridiculous we will never be going back and I encourage everyone to not waste your time or money here! read more

The waitresses are fast and kind. The dessert cabinet has a wonderful selection and so does the menu. Daily specials. I love the boneless fried chicken, green beans, vegetable soup, taco salad in a huge delicious shell, club sandwich, grilled cheese, and did I mention the peanut butter pie? Made the hour drive down to Portsmouth to test-drive (& buy) a car, & wanted to try a local joint, some place we could only eat in Portsmouth. So when I found this place on Yelp & saw the pictures of the desserts, I knew we HAD to eat here! If you're looking for fancy/upscale, you're looking in the wrong place; if you're looking for a casual little spot with affordable prices, friendly service, tasty "home cooking", & desserts that are to-die-for, this is the place! Oh, & did I mention that the portions are enormous??? My hubby & father-in-law SHARED an order of fried mushroom caps & my FIL still took 2 mushrooms home with him (as well as 1/2 of his cheeseburger & fries), & I took home 1/2 of my chef salad. And because we HAD to have dessert, we ordered those to go....it took me 2 days to eat my peanut butter cheesecake, the slice was so big! Oh, & hubby had the peanut butter pie & FIL had the brownie....they said to make sure I included that they highly recommend both items! Will definitely be eating here next time we're in "P-town"! P. Found this restaurant on a business trip to the area. I try to always support local, and this place is a true gem. Super nice staff, quick service, and amazing home cooked food. I ordered multiple desserts to go and share with my husband tonight. Not many places you can find these types of home made treats! I was in Portsmouth and went there for lunch. The food is awesome and the desserts are just to die for! Great home town service and price. I will definitely be back. 8/3/18 Update - I have been back there a few times since my first review. I love their coconut cake. A few days before I go to Portsmouth, I call them and they make sure coconut cake is available when I come in. I always get some to take back to Columbus. Great place, great people. read more

Today is the second time I've eaten at this establishment. The first experience was OK... Today I took my wife and kids and I order the fried chicken, they brought it out and the leg from my 3 piece looked discolored I cut it open with my fork and it smelled TERRIBLE as in Rotten! My wife could smell it as soon as I cut into it and she was across the table. I wrapped it up and the waitress came and ask how everything was I told her and gave her the piece. She came back and said they are gonna cook you a new piece. I then opened up my other two pieces and they didn't smell like the first so I attempted to eat a piece which was a chore since I had the smell and thought of rancid chicken in my nostrils and brain. My wife couldn't eat her meal either because of smell and thought of mine. I have never sent food back or complained at a restaurant and I told the waitress there was no need to bring the other piece. Instead of offering a discount or asking if I'd like something else she brought the bill and I paid it. 40.00 for all 4 of us. I didn't complain or cause a seen. I left and walked over to my car and proceeded to vomit. This bothered me so I went back and asked for the manager, I asked him to step outside so I didn't disturb the other customers and cause a scene. He told me that the chicken was not spoiled the cook just didn't rinse it off (it had been laying in the bloody chicken juice) he said he had pulled it yesterday for a catering order. He said it was policy not to issue refunds but wanted me to be happy. He did issue me a gift certificate for two free meals after I told him it was wrong to pay for a meal like that and that my wife was unable to eat hers as well. It has been about 1 hour and I have puked 3 times and my wife has puked once. My wife worked at KFC for 10 years and she assured me she knows what spoils chicken smells and looks like and that was the worst she had ever smelled! It is a shame that this is acceptable and that was the response from the staff. Who in their right mind would go back to a place that made them puke 3 times???? read more

this place has sooo went downhill. service has been rude last few times & food leaves much to be desired. last week the open face roast beef was so dry & how does an open faced sandwich come dry? also the philly cheese lacked flavor, was dry & was about as tasty as my left toe. we won't be ordering from this place anymore & the young lady with the glasses & short brown bob is a complete rude snob. guess they aren't bothered to show good customer service. that's getting harder to find these days. read more
