We moved to Ohio from Southern California about 2 years ago and we had given up on finding Mexican food in this state forever. IYKYK Until Sonoras was recommended to us yesterday by a friend. We have finally found our place! Courtesy chips and salsa - chips were fresh and crunchy and rifled when empty. Salsa was mild which I liked but others may find too mild. My husband didn't complain that it was weak so it must have been ok for him too. He likes runny salsa, I like chunky (more like pico) but we both enjoyed it. He ordered a house margarita on the rocks and said it was strong (in a good way). Presentation was adorable with a tiny duck, heart shaped straw, and flag. All of their drinks look fun. Very big menu WITH PRICES. We'll definitely be back to try more of them! So many things on the menu looked amazing. Menu has pictures and our food actually looked like them! I had the pastor gringas tacos. I forgot to tell the server corn tortillas and I'm glad I didn't. The flour tortillas were fresh and toasted to perfection. Good amount of melted cheese. Large portion of meat. I could only eat 1 of my 3 tacos but even the leftovers were good. Beans were the right consistency to make a good chip dip. My husband had the enchiladas supreme that came with one each of chicken, beef, bean, and cheese. He finished about 1/2 and polished off the rest today for lunch. I was so full that I forgot about the doke whips on the sign outside but that's ok because we'll definitely be back to try their Norris and street corn items. Plus the fun drinks. The owner came by to greet us and we talked for quite a bit about the lack of quality Mexican food in the area. We were happy to find out they have 4 locations including Waverly which is about 30 minutes closer to us. But in honesty, we'd drive the hour for quality Mexican food. Oh and Bluey was there. Not sure why, but it made me smile. Overall 9/10 - they gave strange fans on the tables and I had to turn it off because it was triggering my ADHD. Parking was tight. read more

Food is good when you actually get what you order. 11 consecutive takeout orders (since I started counting) with missing items, wrong items and a bag of chips 20% full. Pay $50+ each order just to get home and things are missing or wrong literally every time. Sometimes the beans and rice are missing, sometimes the tacos are in the wrong shell, sometimes we get chips and sometimes we don't, sometimes the salsas that come with the order are in the bag, sometimes they're missing. Pay $15 for a large guacamole dip and get one bag of chips that barely covers the bottom of the bag. That's better than some pick up orders when we've bought large Queso or large Guac and got no chips at all. Mistakes happen but this is just pathetic. read more

The food is absolutely amazing. EVERY TIME. So fresh. Best salsa. Warm chips. The entire place is so beautiful and aesthetically appealing. So bright and different. Perfect for photo ops. Margaritas are sure to bang. The taco deals on Tuesday are spectacular! Service is always so kind and quick. They have wonderful weekly specials. Take the chance and get your mind blown by the best Mexican food in the county. The owners are kind and have such a wonderful story. 1000/10 will recommend. We go pretty often. They consistently mess-up our orders. The have salads which do not list any meat but always have chicken on them. Terrible options for vegetarians looking for healthier options. Not a bad place. Food is alright. I wish the chicken fajita were more appetizing. There was very little chicken and the onions and green peppers were way overcooked. I ordered a manganada and I got a blended pineapple margarita with hardly any chamoy or tajin :( it was extremely disappointing because I was super excited to have one since I haven't had one in forever and they were the only place that had it on their menu. I was there this past week after finding it over a year ago. ( AND I REALLY LOVE THIS PLACE) was eating chips and salsa and looking over the menu when I ran my hand through some white snotty substance on the menu......EWWW . Went to restroom washed up and sat down to finish looking in the other menu and came across the same but not as bad. I wiped it off and applied sanitizer. I ordered a combo meal and it was great except the nasty soggy Taco Bell taco that was STUCK to my plate so I asked for another and they brought one but it was just that a TB taco. If I go to a Mexican restaurant I want Mexican food. Reached out to management/owners by no response but basically SORRY. read more

Most Mexican restaurants are run of the mill, you have been to one you have been to them all. Sonoras is a "cute" friendly place, somewhat out of the way. My daughter and I found it by accident. We were on our way to the Fuzion Grill but they are closed on Sunday, we dident realize that. Sonaras fit the bill, when we found Fuzion closed. The food was good, my daughter had chicken fajita's, chicken was spiced just right and moist. I had the Nacho's which were ok, kinda run of the mill. Sonoras is worth another trip. read more

This place surpassed our expectations and was extremely accommodating with our last minute plans for my brothers wedding party dinner. We were traveling from CA and it all started with a pleasant call to the manager. She had a yes we can attitude which followed through the time we set the date to the time our belly's were full with all the delicious food. They allowed us time to go in and decorate before hand and to create a special menu for the dinner. Did I mention they had $1 Margaritas? The food is excellent. For three people we had a tamale special, steak fajitas and an enchilada meal along with three drinks and it came in at $35. Beyond the reasonable price the food was to die for, everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Nothing bland here. The staff and customer service was exceptional. We had four different people come and check on us all very personable. The owner came by and talked checked and he shared his passion for the restaurant and cooking. There is no doubt that this pasion shows through to the staff, the clean comfortable restaurant, the great food and fair prices. This is a labor of love and it shines through. This is absolutely the best Mexican food I have ever had. Starting with their complementary chips and salsa-- the food is fresh and tasty! If you haven't had Queso Chorizo with the flour tortilla chips you are missing out! (Also known as liquid sunshine. OMG.) Some of my favorite dishes include Il Ambre and the Mocajete. My family and I ate here twice in one week, while visiting relatives in the area. This is the most authentic Mexican food we have been able to find in Ohio. The first time I had the fajitas especial, the second time I had the chorizo fajitas. Both were excellent. I was especially impressed that the chorizo was actually Mexican and not the harder Spanish chorizo. The place is cheerful and clean and everyone working there made us feel very welcome.
