I don't know what has happened to this restaurant over the last two years. The food is very good and prices are reasonable. The kitchen is extremely slow. The last two times we were there with only a half full dining room. It took over one hour for our food to arrive. The sad part is the waitresses are taking the heat for this. I had heard that they had a huge fish sandwich here, one that that was large enough to share. Well, it's true! It's one of the largest portions we've had locally. The fish was nice and flaky, moist and tasty. Not fishy at all. I think they use cod. The breading could have been better. It was a bit soggy. But overall, a perfectly acceptable fish sandwich. The fries were exceptional though. Seasoned and fried perfectly crisp on the outside yet creamy on the inside. The Lobster Rolls were really good. Stuffed full of lobster on a toasted roll. These put that Cousins Lobster Truck to shame. Twice as much lobster in the roll and here you get two instead of one, and the price is $4 less! No comparison! Our waitress was super cheerful and nice. She was quick and efficient. The dining room was well lit and clean. We were there for lunch hour, but they weren't super busy. If word gets out about these lobster rolls, though, look out! That may change! This is an excellent option for lunch or dinner. My only criticism is that the water they serve is horrible. Even with a slice of lemon in it, I couldn't drink it. Your best option would be to order a beer. Because even mixed with the soda fountain, the taste of the water came through. Actually, anything with ice might be affected. If they would invest in a filter system, it would improve the water quality immensely. Maybe it's just Ligonier's water? This restaurant has plenty of parking and a beautiful outdoor dining area. The interior looked okay, but we only passed through it, so I didn't see much of it. The food was very delicious, and the prices were good. Our orders were prepared quickly, and the portions were generous. The servers were both very attentive and friendly. They answered all of our questions (someone in our party had a LOT of questions) and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. This location is near Fort Ligonier and also a state park/forest. It's not too far from Idlewild, either. So we will likely return to this establishment again after we finish visiting one of those places! read more

The food is average to above average: it depends on what you get. The glaring issue with this place is the wait time for food. Over the past year I've been here three times and each time the wait was beyond excessive. At least a half hour wait AFTER the order has been placed for routine items like wings, pizza, wraps, or chicken salads. I even held off leaving a review the first two times it happened because generally I like the food and I don't want to jump the gun on a not great review but after it happened again tonight I had to say something. If you are in a hurry or have small children I would strongly reconsider. I promise you you're going to wait a lengthy amount of time for just about everything. read more

Forks Inn has been on my to try list for a while. Driving past this on multiple occasions but never having a chance to stop in, until recently. I have been on a quest to try new places around me and have been looking them up on Yelp. Yelp affords me the opportunity to not only view reviews, but pictures of the food and interior. Mostly the food. As describes in the name, Forks Inn is located at a fork in the road. I would like to state at this point that they really missed the opportunity to have an actual fork in the road out in front of this place. Just saying, maybe look into it. When showing up don't let the place fool you that parking is sparse. Majority of the parking is located behind the business. This place offers a patio/deck area for outdoor seating in the warmer weather. During the cooler months the do enclose it which allows for more tables to be served. The outdoor patio/deck looks like just about any other that you can come across. It is nice, and I believe they do have events on it throughout the year. The interior of this place looks like a lodge with all the natural wood, high tables, and bar. Service here was quick, like really quick. I sat down and an employee was there to see if I wanted to place a drink order. That was placed and I looked over the menu. When the server returned I was ready to place my order. For an appetizer I ordered the Fried Green Beans. This comes with a side or Ranch Dressing, naturally. The green beans were amazing. The breading was reminiscing of the breading you find on really good chicken strips. That was the crunch for this, but I swear that the green beans encased were the freshest green beans I have had in a while. Definitely a good way to start off the meal. For my main course I went with the Bubba Burger. All burgers are a half pound. This one is topped bacon, cheddar, and barbecue sauce. It is a big burger. The meat to bun ratio was spot on and I had to cut it in half to tackle it. I was happy that the server had the intuition to bring extra napkins. There was nothing clean or easy about eating this burger. It was a drippy mess. But the flavor combinations were there and had med devouring that thing in no time. Do I really need to speak to the side for this burger? No. But will I? YES! Fresh cut fries. Of course I am going to talk about fresh cut fries. I love fresh cut fries. Fresh cut fries...I just felt like I needed to say that one more time. Well, I do love me a good potato anyway it can be made and I was happy to see it in the fresh fry variety here. It kind of missed the spot a little. I felt as if they left them in the fryer a little too long. Some of the fries were over fried. Kind of a let down since, and I am being honest here, I was really looking forward to the fries. But as an overall experience it was great. 3.5 stars! Great service and very cute restaurant. Wings were $1 a wing on Wednesday wing night. I think the wings are lightly battered and they are good sized. Not a lot of sauces to choose from but had the standards. Wings were good, cooked well. Loved the home made horseradish sauce, fried green beans were solid. Pretzels a little well done and not a huge fan of beer cheese but it was fine. The loser of the meal for our table were the fries. We came here for a late lunch after a wild day at Idlewild. There were lots of people outside and only a few seated indoors, we always sit inside, the service was extremely fast. The food was excellent. I got the salmon and baked potato and it was cooked to perfection. My devoured half his burger and my 2 year old who normally doesn't eat meatballs. Was loving them. Stopped here on the recommendation of a friend, she's really a good friend, and so is this restaurant. Somehow we missed this place on our first pass, but weee able to find it, thankfully. Rustic from the outside and very casual on the inside, we seated ourselves and were taken care of very quickly. The menu is American-traditional with a few sport bar favorites. Both my wife and I had their smothered chicken after enjoying a salad and their onion rings for an appetizer. The everything was served fresh and hot (as would be the case) and we both enjoyed the food, very much so. Being this is Western PA, my wife had their chocolate gob for dessert whereas I went with the crème brûlée cheesecake- oh my how that was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient and she liked to gab a little (which is always a plus in my book). We loved our experience so much we promised ourselves a return trip next summer when we could sit outside and have our meal amongst the trees. First visit here, likely not the last. Great service ... appetizer arrived before we ordered dinner. Our server checked in often but not too often and was very pleasant. Late Sunday afternoon ... not super busy. Nice atmosphere, easy to carry on a conversation. The deck is very nicely done, but it was cool today so we'll enjoy that next time. The food the service the atmosphere is absolutely spot on ! I'd give it more then five stars if I could! We just recently moved to the area and have ate here several times now and have got to know all the wait staff really well they treat you like family. Sarah the cook is phenomenal! All the food comes out piping hot and fresh. The selection is fabulous. Portions are very generous. The steak melts in your mouth. And there are specials every day. My husband said their fried chicken special is the best he's ever had and wants it put permanently on the menu lol he couldn't stop raving about it. Atmosphere is very family friendly lots of seating. Bands play outside in the summer in the outdoor deck / bar. Gets extremely busy so we've heard. The pizza is great and so are the wings I love their crust it's light golden and the perogie pizza is one of my favs. And desserts well you just have to make room it's all good! All in all you couldn't ask for a better place to eat and prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is super clean the girls work hard to keep it that way! This is an updated review. Today, we returned here (but I forgot to checkin) for a nice lunch with family. Again, I can't complain about the portions or price of the food. I had the spaghetti special for only $4.50. It included the house salad and garlic bread. Husband ordered a Reuben sandwich with homemade fries. It was so big, he had to take half home. On a whim, he thought he'd try the strawberry short cake dessert. We were surprised how good and huge it was. (See photo) All in all, a very nice afternoon touching base with family over good food. It was nice that the server didn't mind us lingering over dessert and coffee. This is a local place with lots of patrons stopping in for a meal, snack or adult beverage in the bar. We got the farmers platter from the appetizer menu which was loaded with onion petals, zucchini planks and hot cheese balls with sauces for dipping and I thought is was pretty good. Then we ordered a pierogi pizza, this thing tastes great and fills you up quickly! The service was spot on with good drink recommendations from the bar tender who never let my glass go empty until I told her I was done. In town for training and had an hour to eat. The place is clean, small menu with normal pricing. I paid 11 bucks for a reuben with a big stack of fries and an iced tea. Server seemed unprepared initially but they had just opened and I think they were just getting the system started. She was however very polite. Food came out quick and tasted good. Due to the Covid situation we tried to include several restaurants near our place in the mountains for our patronage. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. I was craving wings so my husband suggested Forks Inn. I am thrilled that he thought of it. We ordered 3 different wings. Dry rubbed, Cajun and I believe the red hot. We also had 2 side salads and an order of fries. Everything was homemade and delicious. The chicken was well done and very meaty. Fries were fresh cur and even the croutons on the salad were special. Killer wings. The best I have ever had, but I don't make a sport of it the way others do, so just know it is this one little lady's opinion. The wings are pricier than one might be accustomed to in these parts. I believe they are worth it. I also know they are sourcing their chicken from Amish farms with high-quality delicious chicken and I could tell. I'm happy to spend on quality meat. My family and I are doing Burgermania. You go to a new restaurant weekly for their burger and choose the best 3 at the end. This is how we ended up at the Forks Inn. I will definitely go back. How did I not know about this place? This was the next to last stop on our list of stops. The line was RIDICULOUS. (it is usually busy everywhere on burgermania night and we got there late). I said, "This burger better be damn good after this wait!" Well... it was! It was the best burger we'd had. The manager came over to ask us how it was. We told him great- best of the tour so far. he mentioned they like to keep their menu simple and good. No add a lot of "Stuff" to things that don't need more "stuff". They were coming around with a beautiful tray of desserts. Great plan forks inn! They thought this out well ;) We usually order a burger- share some fries and go for ice cream after. Well, we had to have a slice of this beautiful cake, which cost more than The Burgers. Due to this marketing tactic, I'm super impressed. $5 burger isn't much profit for burger night. $7 cake= profit. Not being smart. I'm in sales. I like it LOL The place is SUPER clean. Even though they were slammed our amazing waitress kept our drinks filled. I 100% will be going back here to check out some other food! My only minor complaint. I'm short. There was a tall man standing at the corner of the bar. Every seat was taken. I stepped behind him to order a drink while waiting for tables. A man (also tall) came and stood to the side. I was like no way dude... I was here first (in my head, of course) Man #1 left. I stepped up to bar. Bartender ignored me, looked over to tall men #2 who was AFTER me and got his drinks. We decided to split desert which came from Kamees in Ligonier, a brownie cheesecake desert. It was very good and if you're familiar with Oakmont Bakeries Oakmonter cake it's a very close second! After a friend had suggested going to Fork's Inn, even though it's a bit of a drive from us, we decided to give it a try. I'm happy to say that I am very glad we ate there. The menu is diverse, the prices are good, and most of all, the food was great. We even returned there a few months later, and brought my whole family there for dinner, we weren't disappointed. Stopped after the Light up night in Ligonier, pretty busy, probably the reason it took so long for our food! was there with 4 people, the burger person said it was good and looked good, her spouse had steak phillly hoagie, and also said was good. I ordered the Italian hoagie, was NOT good, it literally had 3 slices of meat on it!!! I ate half without the top bun, and the other half, only ate the meat!!! This is the second time I have been to this establishment. The first time, I ordered the baked cod with salad and a vegetable. I was shocked at how delicious the fish was for a restaurant that is not a seafood restaurant. The second time, I ordered the 22oz ribeye steak. The steak was cooked perfectly rare as requested, I was happy about that, but the seasoning that they seasoned the meat with was extremely salty. I don't like salty foods, so I asked my diner companion to taste it, and yes, it was way way over salted. I assume this was a mistake. I would definitely would order a steak from them again, but just request that they lightly seasoned the steak. My diner companions steak was cooked perfectly, the fried mushrooms and onions were delicious, and was not over seasoned, but his baked potato was more room temp than hot. I noticed burgers coming from the kitchen that look amazing, Although I am not a huge burger fan, they looked so good that I would go back to try one. We went to Forks Inn on a Thursday. Upon walking in we saw a sign that said it was wing night and the wings were $.60 each. That sounded good, so we proceeded to all order wings. Wings were brought. Wings were consumed. Wings were very good. The problem came with the check. They charged us the full price of $9.50 per 10 wings. I called the waitress over to point it out, thinking it was an honest mistake ringing it in. I was shocked when she she told me we had to ask for the wing special when ordering. Her mannerism was that this was our fault. I asked how we the customers were supposed to know to ask for a wing special on an advertised wing night. If we order wings on wing night there was a reasonable expectation on our part that the wing night prices will apply. Nope, she wouldn't budge, offer to have a manager come over, or do anything to rectify the situation. She actually stormed off. Fool me once, ok. That's all you're going to get. read more

It helps that we live only a few minutes away but Fork's has become our family's favorite restaurant. The service is good. They get busy, like any place else, but the servers are ALWAYS friendly and never make you feel like you aren't worth their time. Only once did we ever have to wait longer than I would have liked for the food to arrive, but they were totally packed, every table full. So considering that, the wait was understandable. They are always quick with drink refills, etc. They remember your special instructions when you order. They even remember exactly how my 9yo likes his burger! The food is surprisingly good and maybe more importantly, very consistent. There's an item or two on the menu that I don't care for, but my go-to choices are always good, without fail. That's very important to me - when there's an item on a menu that I know I like, I want to know that it will be good every time. Not just on a "good day." The pizza and stromboli are fantastic. The steak hoagie and Italian hoagie, also great. The big ribeye is the best steak I've had at any local place. And the burgers are very, very good. Check the chalkboard on the way in for daily specials - they add a fair amount of variety to the relatively small menu. I mentioned the items I didn't care much for - the fish and chips. Well prepared but under seasoned. Fish sandwich, same. We will continue to frequent Fork's. If you're in the Ligonier area, it's only a few minutes outside of downtown. The newly rebuilt Fork's Inn is outstanding!! Food, service and atmosphere all exceeded expectations. Tonight was our 2nd visit in as many weeks. First time we went to meet friends and were bowled over at the new restaurant...it's lovely. A truely well done 'rustic lodge' feeling to the bar & restaurant. It's a clean, airy open space with a comfortable bar area seperated from the restaurant. Now to the food!!! 1st visit I had the special, butternut squash ravioli in a creamy garlic sauce. It sounded awsome and it was! Tonight a veggie strombli-EXCELLENT. One more thing, we have dined in the bar area(@ a table) on both visits, the service couldn't have been better!!! After reviewing Yelp reviews for this establishment, my wife and I felt fairly comfortable that this would be a good dining experience. I was very disappointed. When we arrived at 5:30 PM on a Wednesday evening, we found the place packed and extremely noisy. We couldn't even carry on a conversation, but I can understand a crowded bar being noisy, just don't go there if you want ambience. We ordered wings as an appetizer. They were very big and very tender, I enjoyed the Buffalo wings very much. The Garlic Butter Parmesan, not so much, they should've been called Butter. I could taste no garlic or any parmesan, and they came about a minute before my meal. For my meal, I ordered the grilled chicken and my wife, the NY Strip. The Chicken was described as an 8 ounce breast, but when it came, it looked more like 4. When the waitress came back, she asked if everything was okay and she was questioned as to whether the breast was 8 ounces. She said it was and bolted, never even came back to refill waters. I guess there was going to be no discussion about that. Anyway, I ate about a third of it (pretty over-cooked) and took the remainder home. While I know this sounds strange, I weighed it...2.8 ounces. So, it was not an 8 ounce breast, but a 4 ounce as suspected. I don't know about you, but I don't like being served half what I paid for. As for the steak...Meh, average at best. Sides of baked potato and broccoli were pretty good and my wife's fries were good, but I'd probably order only Buffalo wings if I were to go here again. But I probably wouldn't waste my time or money on the Forks Inn. read more
