So Spitfire is now called Spitfire and After Glow Lounge. They just recently opened under new management. When you walk in, it's like entering a new world! There is a dining area with a bar. It's decorated really cool and there is a mysterious atmosphere. The menu is nice, a lot of different options. We tried the artichoke Asiago dip with naan. This was so good! I ordered the spitfire chicken and my husband got the crab cakes. We both liked our meals. I loved my chicken but didn't care for the goat cheese, just not one of my favorite cheeses. I think the menu is amazing and it was so nice that the owner and chef came to check on how things were going. Definitely will go back to try something new. When we were there, they didn't have the lounge open on the top floor. We will have to go back and check it out. read more

My friends and I had a fantastic experience at Spitfire this weekend. As I consider the location, atmosphere, and food selection, I can't help but notice one of this restaurant's strengths is its diversity. Both the atmosphere and the food can offer a variety of experiences. The interior provides an upscale environment perfect for a romantic dinner or classy meetup with friends or family. The outdoor bar and patio area is perfect for a more casual experience. The trees and greenery offer privacy and beauty. The menu is diverse as well. Entrees with impressive proteins and accoutrements will delight the foodie in your group, but if you are looking for fun appetizers, sandwiches, and pizzas, they have those, too. My friends and I were in the mood for the latter, and every single one of the items that we shared was delicious. Because we couldn't possibly ignore the interesting offering of deep fried deviled eggs, we eagerly ordered them. It was a really fun menu pick, and they were equally fun to eat! The lobster langostino dip was so savory and full of seafood. The Margherita pizza was exactly what you are looking for when ordering one- fresh sauce, garlic and basil, the right amount of cheese, and a bubbly crust. Lastly, the Reuben was one of the better Reubens I've enjoyed in a long time. It's filled with pastrami rather than corned beef, and I was pleased with its quality. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant, especially if, like me, you've been dining out in Greensburg for over a dozen years but somehow never bothered to try it! Why did I wait so long? We went for restaurant week, so very busy and apparently only 2 waiters. Ours was good, but seemed new as he did not know a lot about the menu and also seemed to have a lot of tables to wait on. I started with a summer watermelon vodka mint drink which was refreshing. Maybe it was to help me overlook the disappointment of the main meal. The rest of my party declined drinks like beer when they found out they were $8 and stayed with water. A (very) small bag of chips came next, which seemed odd in a tiny brown bag. Appetizer was bruschetta which was two pieces of soft bread with apricot spread and prosciutto, which was OK. My entree of ratatouille was a disappointment. Two, maybe three small slices of eggplant and slices of tomato and a few leafy greens over orzo, more like an appetizer salad. This meal was $30 (plus tax and tip) so not worth it. I thought I wish had selected a different restaurant this week or something not so pricey from the rest of the menu, like the flatbread pizza a couple of my family members had (and shared because they felt bad about my meal) or the steak sandwich which looked filling. The restaurant week chicken casserole looked a bit more filling, but was also on the small side in a tin pail The other restaurant week selection was catfish, which no one ordered. For dessert I ordered pecan balls, which were two tiny scoops of ice cream with some pecan chips with puff pastry and cherries, which was creative and a nice finish. Looking back, i would look at the rest of the menu and not be set on the the restaurant week selections, which were really not the best selections offered. I kept telling myself to enjoy the ambiance of Edison lights and the pleasant patio in South Greensburg on a nice summer night. But looking around, it seemed many other patrons were also disappointed by the long wait for their food. At least the drink was good. read more

We came here on a Friday night for a large celebration! We had 2 big tables and had the best time and service! Tim & Susie we're our servers and made sure we were good all night! We all got a few apps pizza and buckets of claws! We sat outside on the top patio while the band was playing! It was perfect & not too loud! This place is hit or miss. I'd not recommend going on a Sunday. I was in on 8/25 and unfortunately there was 1 server for about 10 tables and 3 couples at the bar. The only server did a good job considering she was host, server, and food runner. The pizza was undercooked and the chicken, which I added to my meager salad was dry. Honestly, Wendy's would have been far better. I have heard from local friends how bad this place was but I've had some good experiences previously and thought it would be nice to sit outside however it was not. Music was only playing by the bar and the outdoor dinning area looked like no one bothered to clean up. It was clear that no one spent any time cleaning up the outdoor dining areas as there were dried leaves scattered about and one could easily tell it was longer than a day worth of leaves. One table still had stacked chairs and tables were barely organized. I saw a couple walk in look around for a table and walk out. Here is a suggestion how about having staff clean up the outdoor and turn music on to create an atmosphere so at least if one receives mediocre food at least the atmosphere would make up for it. It is really a bad idea to have servers admit that the soup of the day is actually the soup that was the special the day before. So the soup of the day on Saturday was "sweet and sour pork" and on Sunday, an admission by the server, so is it soup of the day, soup of the week or simply soup of the weekend? Why not just fool people and simply say our soup is.... Lots of opportunity to improve and candidly I'm not sure I'll return. Sad because I want to like this place and as mentioned have had some great past experiences despite what I've heard from friends. I'm not certain why anyone would not focus on creating a great customer experience instead of creating a reputation that is hard to change when so many experience a bad memory maker. read more

Not much positive to say about this place. The service was horrible. We had a table of 4, 2 were served & finished a 1/2 hour before the other 2 were served (yes, a freaking 1/2 hour). The others felt bad, but had to eat their food while it was hot. By the time the other food arrived it was so overdone it was basically baby food. All this while watching cooks in an open kitchen eating food with their hands and continuing to cook without washing their hands, or putting on gloves. I felt really bad for the waitress, who was trying and apologetic, and worse when the manager blamed her for not telling us that they were busy. Unfortunately the manager failed to realize she's the one who seated us and said nothing when I pointed out that they weren't that busy. I only wish I could give them no stars. read more

I was in the area for an interview, and drove by. The exterior intrigued me with a big "best of" type sign. I walked in and the Ambiance was very dim, great for a first date and what not. The server was very polite, and took my order for take out. I asked for a Bacon cheeseburger and fries. Sure enough, when I got back to my hotel, I had a cheeseburger with no bacon and it seemed a bit more uncooked than it should have been. Despite this, it was still a very scrumptious burger and it didn't last very long. The Fries were some of the best I've ever had, and had the perfect amount of seasoning. Perhaps if I had dined there, I would have been able to give 5 stars, but since a takeout order was messed up, and was still charged extra for the bacon, I can't justify 5 stars. read more

This review will seem odd a first, but stay with me. The OSG has a nice variety of food and for Greensburg that is much needed. I have been here ten times and had a wide variety. All the fare is excellent. Now...here is what is odd. In the summer this place has one of the most bad ass outdoor eating areas around. Simply superb. In the colder times, the inside is just normal. The outside seating is so great that I just can't go in the winter. So, in summation, this is a 5-star place when sitting outdoor and just average inside. read more

First things first, the food was wonderful. The service on the other hand was awful, which is why I'm leaving a 2 star rating. Our waitress, Pamela, was rude and absent during our entire meal. We let it go, understanding that you never know what some people are going though. We are understanding people, being that we have both worked in food service in the past. We asked for the queso appetizer first and she told us they were out. Understandable, so we asked for the Mediterranean hummus. They were out of that as well. So we decided to nix the appetizer. She was also waiting on a table next to us, who sat down a few minutes after we did. They appeared to be her friends as they were laughing and joking and reminiscing, all good and fine. The other table orders the hummus, after we had tried to and were told they were out, and we blatantly hear her say "shh, I can get it for you." That is absolutely unacceptable. I realize help is at a premium right now but we waited for 10 minutes for a hostess to show up to seat us, being told by multiple wait staff someone would be right with us. Ok, seated... decided on a garden salad (not a side salad) 6.00 plus 7.00 to add shrimp. Salad came and was literally served in what I would consider a side salad bowel with FOUR small shrimp. Salad was mixed greens approx 1 1/2 cups about 4 carrot sticks, 3 cubes each of cucumber and tomato. So total cost 13.00...seriously?! I very very seldom will right a bad review but c'mon folks...not cool. On a better note,Hubby had the smoked brisket with 2 sides...much much better choice although the side of seasonal veggies was well hidden and minimal at best. I am so impressed with the staff and food in at this restaurant! My 93 year old aunt in a nursing home had her birthday yesterday. When I saw that The Old Spitfire Grill had a rice pudding with Peach Bourbon sauce on their restaurant week menu, I decided to ask if I could order it for her since she has to have all her food puréed and thus could not have even a birthday cupcake. Even though it was one day past restaurant week when I called with my request, the manager and chef said yes! And when I picked it up the next day, the staff told me it was "on the house" and to wish my aunt a happy birthday. She so enjoyed her special treat! What a class establishment! read more

The band was comical/embarrassing. They were on break more than they played ... but that was the best part! They had a fan blowing the singer/guitarist hair like a homosexual transvestite model on a beach making a commercial for tampons for HIM... most ridiculous thing I've seen. Band sucked. Sucked bad. Crab cakes were decent. Pizza ok. Not great overall. Drinks fairly expensive. Waitress acted pissed when we asked for drinks a second time. Not happy. Worst part of the night... i had a great dinner here tonight. Started out with a very personable bartender Jay who was very knowledgeable of the menu and specials - you dont always fine that in an establishment. The house salad was awesome, fresh beets, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion and a home made vinaigrette dressing. the loaded baked potatoe soup was also very good. I ordered the blackened fish special, seasoned perfectly with saute kale, squash and cherry tomatoes. The meal was awesome and had some great conversation with some local patrons. Another special was the Grilled porterhouse pork chop which another patron was raving about, I would definetely come back here. Great atmosphere, they have outside dining too. We came here for the first time during Greensburg Restaurant Week. I would not say I was blown away by the experience as a whole, but it was enjoyable and a few of the dishes were very good. I do have a desire to return and try their regular menu. Due to restaurant week, the inside was completely booked up, but the outdoor patio was open and being that there were only two of us, we got to sit down right away and got to pick out table. The outdoor patio is one of the best things about this place. Although it is right near the street, they have so many plants around the area that it makes it very private and pretty quiet. They also have a lot of plants inside the patio, and they don't place the tables too close together. The result was a very relaxed atmosphere. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was on top of it, our food was a little slow coming out, but totally understandable since it was so packed inside and the kitchen was probably a little overwhelmed. Overall the food was good. There were some amazing components and others not so amazing. In the order that we were served: 1. Cocktail: sangria, probably the best sangria I've ever had 2. Appetizers: pulled pork egg roll, very good but small portion bruschetta, a little weird with all the combinations of tastes and textures 3. At some point we also had kettle chips and crab dip which I would describe as top notch 4. For our main courses: chicken and sausage, good taste and portion size, sausage was very spicy Meatball casserole, less of a casserole and more like just three huge meatballs that didn't have much of a taste. I would have preferred more orzo and slightly less meat. Also, could have been more of an actual casserole. 5. Desserts: peach cobbler, as expected, decent portion size Chocolate peanut butter roll, tasty and rich, very large portion size I'm going to judge this place on the atmosphere, service and those dishes that were really good and I'm probably going to come back at some point to try their regular menu. I have been to Spitfire several times, and I am never disappointed with the taste, quality of the food, the experience, etc. Although, I have to say I did not give 5 stars due to the way sometimes the staff treats people when they come in on their version of "late" or "close to closing time" the website states they close at 10PM during the week, and 11PM on Saturdays, but this place dies down rather early compared to other restaurants in Greensburg like J Corks for example and I have seen them turn away business and people not even buy a drink and leave due to this. I understand everyone wants to get home for their time, their families, etc. but the restaurant business livelihood depends on customer purchasing their food, and the waiter and waitresses depend on the tips; so to turn away people and tell them the kitchen is closed at 9:30 or treat them poorly at 7:30 on a weeknight and making them feel rushed and feel improper for ordering food is not the best business practice I have to say and they should steer their staff away from doing this & their staff talking in front of customers to hear about people coming in late etc & how they felt about the instances at that time. . Especially loyal customers who frequent and drop $50-$100 every single time they visit tipping the staff over 20% each time. For the food and the atmosphere, it is a very excellent dining experience. The food is absolutely phenomenal and never disappoints. I am always in awe and shock this restaurant is not busier than it should be for it's outstanding and superb consistency for food. The prices being a slight bit higher than corporate places etc. is worth every penny literally. Again, just disappointed with the lack of professionalism the staff emanates and displays to guests and in front of guests when people roll in at the times they do. Every business thrives off the customers and the customers seek the overall experience an establishment can offer them each time going hand in hand with the way the employees of the establishment treats customer. Just a tid bit from my own book of being in business and a business practice I have learned over the years. Again no complaints in regards to the food, the cleanliness, the atmosphere overall, the quality, presentation, and taste of the foods. Leave yourself plenty of time to eat here. I'm an out of town Yelper who was trying to get to Zozo's which used to be at this location unless an address is wrong somewhere. Every Yelper loved that Zozo's. My family of 4 arrived at 5pm. It took an hour to get a salad, chicken tenders with fries for the kids [there is no kids menu(!), but they were willing to make some chicken tenders for us] a bowl of average chili and a crab cake. The crab cake was excellent, but the rest wasn't worth the wait. I had a local All Saints beer which was OK, but I think I'd have something else if I ever went back, which probably won't happen. read more

I just want to say 'THANK YOU' to both Jerry and Ken for all their help with assisting me in my attempts to pull of a surprise party this past weekend! When I started researching venues to hold this private event, one of my first calls was to The Olde Spitfire Grille. Living in Nashville and never having seen the venue or tasted the food, I was hesitant, but from day one, Jerry was so helpful and informative. He followed-up with me regularly and allowed me to customize the menu, as well as the creative freedom with the rest of my needs! Once I was able to see the space (Stonewater Bar & Patio) and meet both Jerry and our awesome bartender, Ken, in person, I knew I had made the right choice. During the party, my guests kept commenting on how yummy the food tasted (we had a cheese/meat/cracker platter, pulled pork sliders, sausage and cornbread stuffed mushrooms, and various types of their flatbread pizzas) and how awesome the venue was. Jerry checked in on me a couple of times to make sure everything was going well and that my needs were being met, and Ken was amazing at "catering" to my sometimes silly requests (i.e. "turn the music up", "turn the tv to NASCAR, now back to the wall plate", etc - lol). Every single one of my guests, as well as the guest of honor had such an amazing time. These guys really took care of us and I highly recommend booking your next party or event with them! They are also bringing live music back to the Greensburg scene, which coming from Nashville, really appeals to me, and I can't wait to make it back to see some of the artists and bands. Once this cold spell breaks, being able to sit outside on a nice spring/summer night will really make this place a "can't-miss" for the area! Awesome, awesome, awesome! read more

Greensburg definitely has better to offer. We went on a Sunday evening for restaurant week, I even had made a reservation in case they were busy, which turned out to be completely unnecessary. When we walked up to the patio we saw open tables, but no "please seat yourself" signs or a host, so we went inside first. After waiting for 5 minutes awkwardly in an empty dining room, someone yelled to us that only the patio was open go outside and find a seat. Our patio spot was very nice by a large plant, but it took a minute to find because a lot of the smaller tables hadn't been bussed. Being a party of 2 we didn't want to grab a 10-top table. Our waitress was nice enough, but overall the service wasn't the best. She brought out the wrong entree for me, and my boyfriend refused to eat until I got my food which just made me feel guilty. When I got mine I was very satisfied with it, however his Ratatouille contained zuccini that had obviously gone bad. For desserts the waitress came back to double-check that she had our order right, which was good because she didn't, and by the time my sorbet came out it was nearly spilling off the plate. Which made me think A. They put a sorbet on a hot plate? B. They sat it under the heat lamp? Or C. It just sat for way too long. Flavor was fine, but I only ate half for not wanting to pick up my plate and slurp it up like soup. So overall: 4 stars for the patio atmosphere, 4 stars for food flavor, but 2 stars for the food presentation and 2 stars for the service. There are definitely some dishes on the regular menu that sound great, but I'm not sure we'll be back. read more

Visited last Saturday to enjoy the Sweaty Betty Blues Band that played from about 7 to 10 PM outside in the courtyard. The band, as always, was great -- seasoned performers who know how to entertain without being overly loud -- they respect that people also might want to talk to each other! First time to this venue and it will not be the last -- a bit a drive from my Cranberry address but well worth it. Service -- hostess and owners on site and helpful to everyonee.. Food -- only had a small snak but the menu was inviting (and will be back). Bartending -- two people worked the outside bar -- excellent attitude and service. Patio area -- tables with umbrellas and comfy chairs -- all perfect for an afternoon / evening get together. I counted an outside group of 45 at one point. Many people came for dinner to in the inside area of the Grille -- great bar layout, fine seating, and again, ample staff. I virtually never rate anything with a 5 without having repeat visits/continuity -- but on this occassion I do. One item that I am paying attention to more and more is whether facilities actually staff adequately for customer service and have staff that are trained in managing their clientele. Where do I start. Assigned a nice young server. Brought us water. Didn't see her again for 10 minutes. Came and took our drink order. Waited 10 more minutes. Went to bar to ask for our drinks, sitting at the end of the bar, then bartender brought them to the table. Waited 10-15 minutes for server to take our order. 10 minutes later salads came out. 10-15 minutes later food came out, my pizza was stone cold, other orders seemed fine. Ordered another drink, came out is a juice cup, sent it back to get it in a regular cup all drinks were being served...came back back with proper cup, added ice, and watered down drink. Server never served drink, someone else did, waters were refilled once by someone we had to call over to the table. At the end, server finally showed up, asked how everything was, told her pizza was stone cold, said she would tell the manager to take it off the bill. Asked her then to divide the total bill by 3 (number of people ordering), gave 3 credit cards. 10 minutes later a manager came over with checks, not divided equally, but asked if we ordered these items, and pizza was not removed as the server told us. We explained our experience to the manager and she said the server was new, her first night being left alone, but someone accompanied her when she was at our table. Told the manager she did a disservice to the young lady for the lack of training given to her. Manager blew us off and never tried to satisfy customers. We didn't want to take out our frustrations on the server so each of us left at a tip to the server. Not her fault she wasn't trained properly. If the Spitfire Grille can not handle a COVID crowd, less than half capacity, as it seemed like there were sufficient servers, then perhaps they need to do tale out only. Also, hire a manager who has some service industry experience in dealing with customers properly, and not be so confrontational. I'll cook at home first before I go back there! read more

Just came from there and although everyone was working hard the service was so slow. Waited 40 minutes inside at the bar for a table on the patio. Ordered a glass of Cabernet and then was told that was it, no more Cabernet! Two women came in and ordered Tito's vodka and soda to be told No Tito's. Ordered a burger ( which was excellent) but took an hour to get! Really a shame, it's such a great patio and they have entertainment but after all these years they still can't get it together! I had a gift card and it was a beautiful evening but I'll think long and hard before I return! read more

we had a reservation at 615, ended up leaving the restaurant at 930. it started with us and multiple parties waiting past their reservation. the hostess was also waitressing so it took almost 15 min to even get checked in. the manager came out and said "i know we're running behind on reservations but bare with us i'm not one to kick people out but i'm about to" once we sat down it took at least 45 mins to get appetizers then our food one hour later after that after they informed us they were out of their special so a few of us had to change our orders. the food came out and it was almost all cold, the steak on the mac and cheese was so chewy it was inedible. the waitresses were literally impossible to find for over 15 mins at a time. the table next to us had no silverware and had to go to the bar to get it themselves this same table got their crab cakes AFTER they got their check. another table beside us got the complete wrong food and were also complaining and talking to the manager. the waitress gave me the wrong change after we asked for the bill and it took over 20 mins to even get our checks. we ended up paying 80$ for a two people's meals personally and it took over 3 hours for it. absolutely ridiculous and i would never complain like this but EVERY single table around us had the same experience if not worse. next time i'll probably just go to chick fil a. it's my pleasure to never come back to this restaurant after this experience read more

We were seated on the patio on a weather-perfect, Friday evening, and both the food and surroundings were awesome! Service was good, given the size of the crowd. Portions were generous. I had the crab cakes--full of sweet crab meat, low on filler, and the accompaniments were delicious. I also have to mention that I had a glass of wine, and it was a generous pour. read more

OMG the food is outstanding! I had the wild caught blackened Mahi Mahi and the garlicky green beans. The Mahi Mahi was flakey with a nice texture. The green beans retained a bit of their crispness which made them extra tasty. I started out with a bowl of home made lemon herb chicken soup. It was absolutely delicious! The waitress told me the sous-chef is an artist and I have no reason to doubt her when it comes to his soup creation. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The service was prompt and professional. The atmosphere is surprising given the location. I would describe it as urban modern, very warm and inviting. I'm updating my review because we've made several repeat visits since my first review, and while they still have an occasional odd moment, we've definitely had more hits than misses. I'll get the cons out of the way first: --The flatbreads are gone. --The mixed drinks can be very good, but are inconsistent. I'm guessing it depends on who is tending bar any given night. --They have some good beer options, but the wine list is a bit limited. --The sandwich bread needs a revamp, or maybe they need to have more than one kind. The salmon BLT was great on the inside and could have been a great dish, but the soft bread just didn't work with it (it would have been fine on a burger or the pulled pork sandwich). Pros (and why it's worth making a repeat visit): --Appetizers are consistently great. We've liked the peel and eat shrimp, coconut shrimp, and the pulled pork tacos, just to name a few. --Salads are also a highlight. Their regular house salad is delicious, with enough toppings to be interesting but not enough to be overwhelming. The wedge salad and quinoa spinach salads are good, too. --They have one of the better steaks in town. My husband usually gets either the smothered pork sirloin or one of the steak specials, and has always had a good meal. --Really, we've never had a bad entree here. I'm partial to the seafood pasta, and a friend gets the brisket every time, so it must be good. I haven't tried the salmon since the menu got updated, but the old version was delicious. --Sides: they have possibly my favorite fries in Greensburg. The garlicky green beans and the rice pilaf are solid as well. Service can be inconsistent but is generally friendly, and we've never had any major problems. The atmosphere is nice-- it's classier than most casual places, but isn't trying too hard, so you can make it work for a fancy date night, or show up in jeans. Prices are generally reasonable-- most of the fancier entrees in the $20 range, with sandwiches and appetizers in the $10 range. Had dinner there tonight with our family. The food is always very good. The quinoa salad and filet were great. The three star rating was again due to the service. Every time we're here, the food and the atmosphere are great and the service is average at best. Tonight Ellie was our server and she was extremely rude to the family and an attentive to our needs. If they could just get their service in line, the restaurant would be great. read more
