I had a really nice time on this walking tour with Todd! It was just my husband and me on the tour, so we pretty much got to spend time walking around the city and talking with Todd about all things Portland and weird stuff! We met at Rogue brewing where our first drink was purchased for us. Then we sat down outside and chatted with Todd a bit. He went through some good history of Rogue brewing and shared some cool stories with us and a few photos. Todd was very down to earth and easy to talk with. Since it was just the 3 of us on this adventure, he offered to take us around to places that sounded interesting to us. He mentioned a sour beer brewery close by, so we wandered that way to sample a few of their sour beers. While we were sipping on our drinks, he started sharing more stories with us about some real life unsolved mysteries related to Portland which was really cool to hear. He walked us around the neighborhood and gave us some fun facts about the new builds and the Belmont goats! We also learned about some of the street art and murals. I really liked the BotJoy art and enjoyed seeing the cool robots around the city! We walked around to hear about the Hawthorn Asylum which was burned down and now there is a nice little food cart station in that area which was nice to walk through and see the food options. We made it to a few other bars and tried some more drinks while also hearing stories about UFO's and Bigfoot! I loved these stories! Honestly, this walking tour was just what I needed. I learned so much about Portland and all the nice drinks and things to do in the area. Todd was really friendly and helpful. My husband and I were in Portland for the weekend and decided to try the haunted ghost tour. I'm a sucker for this kind of thing and it was totally worth it! My boyfriend and I attended the Haunted Pub Tour as part of a quick 36 hours in Portland. Our guide, MyKala, was waiting for us in a the atmospheric underground cigar room of an Irish pub and it was the perfect start to our spooky tour of Portland. Any experience like this depends so much on the guide, and MyKala made our trip one to remember. She was knowledgeable, entertaining and just enthusiastic enough to keep us engaged. Our group was small, so we got to ask her a lot of questions and her answers and anecdotes were right on the money. A lot of the time is spent outside, walking around the facades of old buildings and hearing about the awful things people did to each other during the turn of 19th century. Fascinating stuff, just gory enough to make you cringe and want to hurry on to the next beer. The tour is priced affordably, especially considering you get 2 mini-beer-flights plus the leftovers, and it lasted the full 2.5 hours. I'd highly recommend it anyone into beer and the dark and twisted history of Portland. read more

I really really wanted to love this tour bc I did one in Denver and it was awesome but honestly, it wasn't good at all :( The worst part was that we convinced 3 other couples ( it was a total of 8 of us) to do it as we all visited Portland. $45 a person, that's a lot of money! And it totally fell flat. Our guide was nice. The tour itself just wasn't interesting or scary. I looked at the reviews beforehand and it had a lot of stars so I was very surprised that it fell so flat for us. The Haunted Pub tour is a great tour for both out-of-towners and locals alike. Jessie was our tour guide and I would recommend her in a heartbeat! So knowledgeable, patient, and upbeat. We started at Kell's Irish pub, and drank 3 beer samples, then went to Kell's basement which was one of Portland's underground tunnels (now cigar room). We heard about Shanghai tunnels, ghost stories about strange happenings at Kells and their resident firefighter ghost. We then walked to a Fire Dept site nearby and heard about ghost happenings there, and also traveled to Jones 80's dance bldg, Hoodoo antiques, an abandoned Erickson Saloon, and Old Town Pizza, which was our last stop and where there was 5 different beers to try including award winning beers along with yummy garlic pretzel knots. Old Town Pizza is reportedly part of the most haunted building in Portland, and the history of the ghost hauntings there are very interesting. Jessie had a photo of a ghost found on a previous tour, other photos to illustrate her points along the way, and had a lot of stories about Portland's past. Had gone on a free tour the same day in the morning, and many of the stories were similar. Did not like the iPad they used to show pictures, did not feel very authentic. We had a few different beers there. Walked around and ended the tour at another location. My favorite part was looking around the tunnels! If I could say anything I would haved liked to know this tour started in a smoked filled room. I was having a difficult time focusing on just breathing and couldn't hear anything else she had to say. This was a pretty fun tour. It seemed to weigh more heavily toward the beer than the ghost aspect, but fun nevertheless. We started out at Kells where we sampled 3 of there beers the Irish stout which i have had before was my favorite. Our next stop was at Dan and Louis Oyster Bar, where we were treated to a couple more beer samples as well as hearing some neat ghost stories from one of the employees. Our final stop was at Old town pizza where we enjoyed a few more beers as well as some yummy garlic knots. I was glad we had a snack at the last stop as I missed lunch earlier and only had a shake for breakfast. I was starting to feel a little loopy after all the beer lol. read more

Arlo was an awesome tour guide! He told all of his stories in a very engaging way and the stories themselves were very interesting! There was never a moment where I was not hooked on what he was saying. Most of the beer samples were very good - especially the samples at Kells! I am not much of a dark beer drinker, but I actually really enjoyed the red ale and stout that were served. The tour length was a little long for me; I think an even 2 hours would have been perfect. We actually went a little over the 2.5 hours originally stated in the description. This was a great Halloweekend experience and for only $55 per person! If it's possible to create a similar tour that includes food AND drinks, I would definitely sign up for that. I was dying to try some of the food at Kells. Only gets five stars because there aren't more! Tyler was great! Started with a brief overview of how beer was made (didn't do the haunted tour), the. On to tasting. No small portions either - pitchers appeared at each stop. At Rock Bottom, six pitchers for six tour participants, including one created by Tyler. Along the way got some insight into Portland history and why it has become the micro-brew capital of the US. By the time we arrived at the final stop, I could understand the difference between map forward, hop forward, yeast forward, And all the other mystical terms. Fun, informative, great beer -what more could you ask for? Great for individuals, beer snobs, or normal people.
