The brands they stock are thoughtful and considered. You can browse through a rack of Massachusetts brand Penfield, Brooklyn's The Hill-Side and Copenhagen's fresh menswear line Norse Projects (the only place in Philly that carries this brand). P's & Q's also offers up home goods and skincare from eco-conscious brands like Izola and Baxter. The back of the store showcases beautiful hardcover tomes from Taschen Books and U.S. stationery brand Field Notes. The shop also carries their own line of T shirts with smart and bold graphics created in-house. What I like most about P's & Q's is not their stocklist but their overall vibe. The design of the interior is gorgeous. There is wood everywhere including the floors, shelving units and islands. There is something about wood that is just naturally inviting and warm. The occasional incense stick helps also to relieve the stress of shopping (it's hard for dudes sometimes). The entire staff is also super friendly and helpful, and most of all laid back and unpretentious. There is nothing worse than dropping a few hundred dollars in a shop and leave feeling like they did YOU the favor! P's & Q's showcases their own interests and sense of style as apposed to following the latest trends or letting blog posts from Hypebeast dictate their inventory. They also focus on brands that have eco and socially conscious business practices, this is something that is very important to me. I always read about cool menswear shops in London, New York and LA and think to myself "Why Can't Us?" to quote the famous 2008 Phillies slogan. Finally there is a place right here in Philly that offers smart style in a beautiful storefront that is both welcoming and comfortable to shop in.

From the moment I walked in I personally was a little overwhelmed. The name Nordstrom leads me to expect a certain vibe, this did not hit that. The shoe area is a good size, but tiny aisles. It was pretty organized. There is some areas to sit, but not enough. There were people sitting on the floor. There were many racks throughout. There is lots of departments like kids, mens, womens, shoes, bags, suitcases and much more. There is a lot to sift through. The pricing was in my opinion a little high. I can find items one sale, cheaper especially with a coupon. I am sure I made a face at some of the pricing like, "Um really. You want that much for that?" The staff were ok. I had one who tried to help, but he was new so he was unsure on the answer. I ended up not staying too long. I was just there for shoes, and walked out empty handed.

A few days later, I received a cancellation notice falsely stating that I had requested to cancel the order -- which I had not. I had to reach out myself to find out what happened, and only then was I informed that the company had decided to cancel my order due to the cost of international shipping -- despite the fact that I had already paid the higher shipping and duties. No one attempted to contact me beforehand or offer any alternative; they simply cancelled the order without discussion. To make things worse, the sale price of the bag is no longer listed, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the cancellation. This was a very disappointing experience, marked by poor communication, no accountability, and a complete lack of customer consideration. I strongly advise against ordering from Totem Brand Co., especially if you're outside the U.S.

Having grown up poor and being forced to wear way too big, tooth achingly ugly winter coats from Goodwill that I'd 'grow into,' hideous polyester button down shirts that a pimp wouldn't touch, scratchy, pill-y wool sweaters reeking of camphor, high water generic blue jeans and summer shorts I would not put on a dog in a clown show, I assiduously avoid things like this. V. was insistent that I would 'go wild' over this flea market because 'it won't be like anything else you've ever been to!!!' I had my doubts about that but you make concessions for friends. We paid our $3 entrance fee and strolled around. Most of the vendor tables had things that were of no interest to me; old playing cards, glassware that was (presumably) collectible, vintage tattoo flash, old silver plate and older, tarnished sterling silver tableware, racks of *shudder* vintage clothing and shoes, most of which had seen better days. There were some well curated tables of antique jewelry and antique beaded bags at very non-bargain prices and a few tables of what I can only call culled pieces from cabinets of curiosities-moth eaten taxidermied items and non-p.c. tourist trash. For the most part, the vendors we encountered were bored seeming or down right rude. The people watching was far better than anything for sale. After 2 hours here, V. bought a very large, ornate dusty rose colored tassel. I asked what she planned to do with it. Her response? 'Do you want it, Warren?' Uhh-that would be NO. I bought nothing. V. wanted to take another spin around the place so I opted to go out to her car to sit and read, telling her to take her time. Another 2 hours passed. She returned empty handed, other than the tassel, to the car. Would I go back? Nope. Should you go if the flea market opens again? It's $3 and maybe an hour or 2 out of your life. You could spend that time and money in worse ways.
