I've used Formosa Computers a few times in the past (about 20 years) and will always bring my computer problems to him. Mike is extremely knowledgeable and fair in pricing. Today I called him with a serious computior problem. He had me bring it in, told me what he suspected the problem to be and approximately what it would cost if his suspicions were right. A couple of hours after dropping my computor off to him, he called to tell me that the computor was fixed. The problem was exactly what he suspected, and the cost was what he had estimated. My computer stopped working before I started working on a major photo project. I brought an external drive that had failed during the last hurricane in to see if he could get it running again. After $130 all I got was the drive removed from the casing, an $18 USB to SATA cable and him hurrying me out the door when he realized I wasn't going to write him a blank check to do a cursory inspection of the problem. I get that data recovery is good money to many companies, but he wouldn't even do the work to replace the donor board. I will scream from the rooftops to anyone who will listen to stay away from Formosa. Maybe the worst part is I got hustled by a guy with a smile on his face and the veneer of competent expertise. read more

I am a small business owner, recently used Formosa when I had a hard-drive fail. This company was able to recover my data and get me back in business by the next day, and for a reasonable price. Over the next few months I brought in each computer in the office, one at a time, for upgrades and cleaning. The turnaround was quick each time, and charges continued to be reasonable. Bought a printer here also, again, I was satisfied with the price. I'm not a computer expert by any means but I've built computers in the past, so I know enough to understand what is going on; everything including cost was reasonable and explained satisfactorily, no hard sell for anything extra beyond what was needed. I was very pleased with the customer service as well. I'm usually hesitant to put reviews, but this place went above and beyond. I've been going to Formosa since around 2003. Mike has always been great. By that, I mean, he tells me what's going on with my computer and always offers me several solutions depending on what I can afford. Most recently, I went there two weeks ago. He took my old computer and transferred all my files to a refurbished computer. He had the newly refurbished computer ready for me the next day. It was inexpensive and man, am I loving this!
