CASH ONLY This place is amazing. I've been dabbling in Orchids for about 2 years and never knew about this place. I've check local grocery stores and the occasional Lowe's for orchids, but a couple days ago my wife suggested I find a nursery. I'd never thought there'd be such a specialized place. Well there is and this is that place. It's a little hard to find, but GPS got me there. It's at the dead end of the street and if I hadn't noticed the sign on the fence I would have left disappointed. I had seen some reviews where people commented that they weren't sure they were in the right place, so kinda knew it was a little confusing. It's actually hot houses next to a house. Everything is pretty nondescript. I parked, opened the hot house door and went inside. I was greeted by a couple cats (also had heads up from other posts, and they just laid on the chair and looked at me - it was 104 degrees). Anyway I started looking for someone after realizing the first room was empty. I walked into the second room and was amazed by all the blooming orchids on display. I found an elderly man who helped me. As I understand it, the orchids in bloom are on rolling shelves so there's some maneuvering to see things up close, but the gentleman handled all that. When I was there the front of the rolling shelves held orchids for sale, further back on each shelf were orders that were waiting pickup/delivery (assuming?) I found the perfect orchid for me and was stunned that it was only $23. They only take cash (I think someone posted and Zelle, but I never got that far). I was so happy with the place that I offered the man $30 (keep the change you filthy animal - sorry, Home Alone reference just popped in there) which he politely refused. Very nice people. Quality orchids. Staff preferred Venmo payments every time we purchased. It is not always convenient.

The staff was wearing masks which I appreciated. They had a gorgeous variety of phalaenopsis orchids at their nursery. They sold them for a range of prices from $10-$20. I bought one for $18 and a pretty white ceramic pot for $6. I loved the nursery and I'll definitely go back for all my orchid needs. I was slightly disappointed though because most of the prettiest orchids were on hold and not for sale. The majority of the ones for sale were white and a few fuchsia left. I'll be going back to look for more of the rare orchids again and hopefully they won't be on hold this time. read more

Before COVID-19, I came here for some orchid media. They sell them here for $5 a bag. They have a variety of orchids here in many different colors. When I came, it looked like ALL of the flowers were blooming! They also sell vandas which are great for outdoor spaces or bathrooms. I think the place is owned by a husband and wife. The husband speaks more English. They are nice and their welcoming committee of kittens, cats, and dogs are super cute. read more

In Portuguese, Formosa has two meanings which can directly translate to beautiful or another name for Taiwan. Which is exactly what this place was. This was one of the most beautiful nurseries I've ever been to, which they specialize in orchids. The people here are extremely friendly & personable. They even had these sliding racks for their hundreds of orchids, it felt so surreal. When I first came here I was greeted by right away as I got out of my car by a man & a woman. The man spoke english & greeted me. The woman did not speak much English so there was a bit of a language barrier, I was glad to have my boyfriend with me because he spoke Chinese. She showed us around & spoke to my boyfriend as he translated. Usually they sell wholesale to markets etc, but they sell orchids individually as well if you come in person. She gave us prices for each orchid, and names of what kind. If you don't know how to care for orchids they will be more than happy to help you as well. The orchids were well priced & they had gigantic blooms, larger than most other suppliers & nurseries I was shocked. Before we left the woman even gave us a bag to take home some oranges from their orange tree. It was so sweet of her! The customer service is amazing & their orchids are definitely of a higher quality & a larger variety than other places. Will be coming back here to purchase another orchid from then when I am ready! read more

So many beautiful fresh and healthy orchids! First of all, this is located near Captain Benny's. From Murphy Road, follow the street Amesbury I believe, but the Captain Benny's is right there. Take the road till the t zone. (The second stop sign) and then make a right turn. Then it becomes a dead end. On the right side you will see a house and a huge greenhouse and it's filled with Orchids. Park. When you enter into the greenhouse, take a look around but if you can't reach, let the store owner know and he will move the aisles for you so that you can safely get the orchid you want. Prices are so reasonable. Highly recommend this place for those looking for unique healthy orchids. read more

Many thanks to Alice and Kevin for putting together these fantastic phalaenopsis arrangements! We saw some impressive arrangements designed by them at the grand opening of a new office location for my dad's cardiologist a year ago. Sadly my dad and another family friend passed away last week and we ordered 3 arrangements from Formosa Orchid Nursery. The arrangements were absolutely stunning and we received many compliments on them. We went to the nursery a few times before finalizing everything and Kevin and Alice were incredibly patient with all of our questions and requests. We also ordered additional arrangements from other traditional florists and I would say that we got much more for our money from Formosa compared to what we got elsewhere. Also, the orchids from Formosa will live on whereas the flowers from the traditional florists will wilt and die within a week. We will be ordering a few additional orchid arrangements as thank you gifts for family that helped us during this sad time. read more

I bought an oncidium, a paphodelium and a miltonia here! I couldn't believe the variety of orchids offered here. There were also more blooming Phals than I have ever saw in one place. Simply beautiful. I found the couple working here to be very helpful, polite and knowledgeable. The man even labeled one of my plants for me as I was not very familiar with the variety. I also purchased vanda baskets and hangers here. Everything was reasonably priced and all my orchids were and still are very healthy. This is my new favorite orchid nursery! read more

Really unhappy with the service and quality of the plants. Even though we were the only people there, they couldn't have been bothered to help with any questions or to offer any kind of guidance. Plants are poorly labeled and only a portion have the price on them. All 6 purchased plants were extremely dry. Repotted a Cattleya & Dendrobium to find rotted and desiccated roots and have my doubts if they'll make it. A blooming Oncidium and mini Phal have smelly media, but I don't want to disrupt the the plants at this stage. A Paphiopedilum is also in bud and looked healthy at a flan, but has recently been added to a larger pot with bark chips around the Sphagnum plug to make it look nice. Of the 6, the Vanda is the healthiest, although the roots are in poor shape from dehydration. I attempted to discuss this with the owner before giving him a bad review, but he didn't seem to care, didn't apologize and didn't offer a refund or a new plant. Fingers crossed my new plants make it. read more
