What a perfect way to start our first adventure of the year, especially in the Year of the Horse This year, we've decided to create moments instead of buying things, and this experience was everything we hoped for and more. From the moment we arrived, everything felt easy and welcoming. The instructions were clear and simple, making the ride comfortable even if you haven't been on a horse in a while. Our instructor, Annabelle, was AMAZING -- knowledgeable, calm, kind, and truly attentive the entire time. I had the honor of riding Poncho, a strong, steady, and beautiful horse. There was something incredibly grounding about simply walking the trails, crossing through water, and fully trusting him to guide us safely -- and he absolutely did. That connection, that peace, that trust... unforgettable. We enjoyed this experience so much that we already know we'll be back in March, and we plan to end this year the same way we started it -- on horseback, making memories together. If you're looking for horseback riding in Texas, I highly recommend this trail ride. It's peaceful, empowering, well-guided, and truly soul-filling. The new head of the lesson program, Lynn, is amazing. She teaches Western and English and has a ton of experience and certifications. She has a wonderful way with both children and adults. Classes have been fun and challenging for my daughter and have really awakened her love of riding. We have a 17 year old gelding that we board here and he is well taken care of. Lynn's lessons looked like so much fun, I decided to start taking lessons too. Great experience and highly recommended.

The favorite students got all the nice horses (pretty, experienced, still alive, etc) and I got what they called a "plug". I didn't even know that word, but it quickly made sense. I begged the instructor several times to give me a better horse, to no avail. The horse was old, completely uninterested in what he was doing, I guess he just wanted to be left alone and retire. Needless to say, I didn't learn much. The stables made me feel bad for the horses, not nice at all.

Also has a giant porch with an amazing view and a full bathroom so we could shower. We also appreciated the flexibility of their staff and how accommodating they were. We adored the venue manager Janeen who was so kind and easygoing. They even allowed us to bring six adoptable dogs from a rescue group I volunteer with to our cocktail hour (on top of our own dog). It was so much fun and gave the rescue so much exposure. Hard to imagine many other venues that would allow this and we are so grateful!

Two months ago I was given the task of finding an offsite location for my companies upcoming…read moreoffsite and thought Ruby Ranch would be a wonderful fit for our needs. How wrong I was! Upon arriving, I started to notice that the upkeep of the property was very poor. This is just a small list of issues we encountered: AC units were not working, the kitchen refrigerator was not cooling which cost us over $100 in spoiled items, the kitchen sink had no water coming out, our staff had no hot water in the mornings for showers and one of our teammates got stung by a scorpion while using the towel from her bedroom restroom. With all of these problems arising, I decided it was time to call the owner/property manager Madelyn. As I spoke to her mentioning what we were experiencing, her only reaction was that no AC unit works in Texas when it's 100 degrees, which I know is not valid. She then proceeded to ask me what time we wanted to leave the next morning. This completely caught me off guard as I thought that being the owner you would try and resolve issues your paying guests are encountering. This was far from the response I was looking for! After planning this offsite and having several team members as well as speakers staying at the location, we could not just leave to find another space. We all had to deal with the situations at hand and try and get through the next 3 days the best as we could. Following check out, I decided to email Madelyn regarding all of the problems and inconveniences we all had to handle. Still no professionalism fro her regarding her venue to paying customers who keep her in business. I would think being a family owned business, you would treat your customers with respect and reply on the word of mouth business. We as a company, nor I personally will ever use Ruby Ranch again or refer it to anyone who is searching for a venue. Hopefully this helps someone else from going through the same experience!

Luckily the weather was in the 70s which was really nice for a January day. We drove up and parked easily. We then went to pay the rate for 4 adults, got our clubs, chose our golf balls, and we were off. There were a few people there with families on the course but we basically had the course to ourselves. It was a course with a practice spot and then 18 holes to play. It was very informative and fun. There were stands at each hole with a set of photos and historical information. Plus the actual course had slight slopes, and a few fun obstacles. After golfing we went inside the small museum. There were several artifacts and some historical information to look at and read about. On a side note they have two bathrooms with soap and running water which is a positive. Overall it was a fun afternoon on a nice day. The mini golf course is fun and informative. The museum is small and interesting. If you like history and mini golf this would be a good place to visit and play on a nice day.

Do not join here as a tennis member.  Recently, the new ownership group Arcis and the head "tennis…read morepro" Kelly Marshall decided to ruin the tennis courts by painting a million lines everywhere.  The tennis courts are an absolute mess.  Even though members voiced their opposition to pickle ball taking over the tennis courts, our voices were ignored.  Onion Creek went ahead with trying to accommodate "all racquet sports" by littering the courts with pickle ball equipment and the final straw - adding permanent pickle ball lines to the tennis courts.  Tennis players are not respected here.  I'm playing at Grey Rock from now on.
