    Comfy loft
    Lu-Shien T.

One part double reed musicians' guild, one part showroom to audition instruments, one part music shop. Altogether exquisite. It was a lot of fun to see the community of musicians in various phases of their development converge on this place to browse, try out instruments and celebrate music. Numerous practice rooms make this place a playground for musicians to find their next instrument... or let their instrument find them. My family got to spend almost 3 hours in the loft while my son auditioned 4 bassoons (think car prices). When we went back down to close out our session and pick up some supplies, we continued enjoying superlative service and hospitality--thank you! It is affirming and gratifying to find a community such as this to support the musical development of our children. 1 hour street parking out front, but limited parking behind for customers who are apt to lose themselves in this blissful alternate reality where time warps.

    All the Bocals!

This is my favourite place to go for my bassoon stuff. The staff is knowledgable. The products they sell are top quality. If they don't have the answer to your question, they will help you find someone that does. Their repair shop is top notch even if the technician can be a bit surly at times. I made an appointment with the tech and the work done was brilliant. My horn plays better than ever. Cynthia and the whole Forrests crew are the best!

Love the store each time I go. Free parking in the back - do need to worry about finding a spot. People are very helpful and understanding.

Then, as I progressed and developed my own style, Tim was very supportive of showing me how to express my own authentic voice on the Mandolin. Really, a dream come true - I have always wanted to express myself musically, and Tim has helped me do that more than anyone ... Thanks Tim! I highly recommend him for developing your own style and technique!

I first reached out to Tim when my wife was interested in starting mandolin. She had no experience with string instruments and Tim was a warm and patient teacher for her. Her experience was so good, I picked up a banjo and headed to Tim's myself! Tim is a Bay Area treasure. Growing up in West Virginia and having played throughout the states, he brings a wealth of knowledge about the history of bluegrass and oldtime music, grounding his lessons in storytelling, the oldtimey way. This helps students develop a deep appreciation for the music and turned me on to players and styles I hadn't heard and might not otherwise have come across. He helped me develop a strong foundation and technique that has carried me through to today. We spent a lot of time honing in on my right hand technique and I still remind myself of his notes when I'm playing. Get on over to Tim's!
