For approximately 45 minutes, we learned about the history of the castle and how a man persistently and willingly built everything by hand. The stairs are narrow and steep. Each room is uniquely designed. There is an impressive medieval collection of swords, shields, weapons, and armors. Furthermore, there are several picture-worthy spots such as the front of the castle, flower garden, and the room with the swords.

You need to book an appointment to visit and the owner very graciously fit us in even though they had a fairly packed schedule. The space is in a cool art/studio space where various artisans rent out areas. The museum owner told me about some of the history of the building which was really interesting to hear. I love when old spaces are reimagined. When you get to the building that the museum is in, the cat museum is down the hall and to the right. (there isn't any directional signage when you enter the building). You know you are in the right place when you see the giant blow up lucky cat. The museum itself is a small space, but it is packed, literally wall to wall and floor to ceiling with lucky cat and other cat related items. There are several interactive items (noted with a paw so you know what you can and can't touch). There are items the owners collected, items created by the owners and items created and donated by others. One of my daughter's favorites was the weird al lucky cat and the super tiny lucky cat. We spent a surprisingly long amount of time in there because my daughter wanted to look at and take in as many details as possible. The museum itself is free, but you can make a donation. You can also support the museum and owner by making a purchase in the shop. They have everything from $1 small trinket items to large and expensive stuffed animals and souvenir shirts. If you are looking for something unique and quirky to do, definitely check out this super fun space.

Many of the extra exhibits around the ark are extra money of course. The little zoo was nice. The inside was loaded w/ things to see. If you read it all it would take all day. The photo op at the beginning comes out to about $35. Also, many of the prices in the gift shop was very high. One aspect I thought was kind of odd was the unusual number of dinosaurs displayed in the ark. You would think there were more dinosaurs back then then most of the animals we are familiar with. Maybe it's just a way to attract the kids attention. It would be cool if they had a time-lapse video of the construction, and maybe I missed it. The buffet was definitely worth hitting up. All the food was actually good. I had no complaints and the staff kept most things very fresh. There was plenty of options and many drinks to choose from as well. The desserts were all tasty as well. Donut holes were a kid fave. Tons of seating too.

This is the Mushroom House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati. The amount of detail is really breathtaking: circular steel steps, deck rails of wood shingles, stained glass windows, tiled ceilings... of course, I had to snap some pics. How often do we come to Cin City. The original owner/builder by the name of Terry Brown has passed away in 2008. If you're passing through Cincinnati you have to stop by the Mushroom House. This is the most…read moreunique real house I have ever seen. It is a relatively young house, when it comes to house age. It was started to get built by architect Terry Brown in 1992 and completed in 2006. Terry Brown him self resided in it until his passing in 2008. This house looks like a mushroom from a certain angle, and like an owl from another. It is a fairytale house in the real world. There's so much fine detail, there's no wonder it had taken this genius man 14 years to complete this artistic masterpiece of a home. The spiral orange stair case was chained off not allowing access to the public. There was a car parked in the driveway as well as a surveillance camera. They also had a "no trespassing" sign. The land around, although very minimal is very well groomed and well kept. Something tells me there are people who currently reside here. I don't know how I would feel about living in a home that gets so much attention and that is always being photographed. The Mushroom House is a must see in Cincinnati. I always believed it but now things that I wondered about are answered. So many things to disprove evolution at every turn. The 4d presentations are a little cheesy but good for kids, but the planetarium was phenomenal. I found myself gasping in awe several times during the Created Cosmos presentation. It was a very humbling experience to realize that out of all of the trillions of planets and stars, God chose this crazy, messed up world and sent his Son to die for us. He didn't start over somewhere else. He chose US! They have an entire section dedicated to a baby's journey in the womb which was awesome. There were some panels and screens discussing abortion and references to sexual activity in that section so maybe that one's not for curious kiddos. There was a hall full of butterflies and beetles on display, dinosaur bones, and a hall with panels with some fascinating Bible facts. It was a truly wonderful experience. I could not recommend it higher.

Elsinore Castle was erected in 1883 by the Cincinnati Waterworks to house a valve for water to be transported to Eden Park. The company was interested in enhancing the view of the park, and this location was the former main entrance. The castle was built be renown architect Samuel Hanneford, modeled after Kronberg Castle, which was featured in a local play of Hamlet. The real Kronberg Castle can be found in Denmark. When the Cincinnati Art Museum opened in 1886, stairs were placed at the base of Elsinore Castle. The steps were too steep to ever become popular and the Elsinore Castle soon lost its appeal as an entrance to Eden Park. A mere 100 years later, it was integrated into the landscaping of Channel 9 and is seen more as a landmark of the news station than of the park. Set alongside Gilbert Avenue, the public can still stop and photograph the castle, however it was sadly never used for anything magical, like kings and armored battle. Viewing Time: 15 minutes

It was just in one house then, a pretty typical small-town historical society with stuff crammed in display cases, and filling every room down to the basement. Cool for a history buff, but nothing spectacular. We went yesterday as part of the Ohio Statehood Day events, and, wow. They have added the house next door, and an addition in the back, and it is now an incredible museum. The volunteers were very friendly and knowledgeable. The displays are beautiful and informative. All aspects of local history are covered. There are train sets, dolls, military artifacts, cars, covered wagons... All sorts of things, nicely restored. During our visit there was old-time music, a special display of early American weapons, costumed interpreters, etc. They said they decorate for Christmas with historical toys and decorations. We had a great visit and stayed till closing time. I would set aside at least an hour, better 2 or 3. This is a local gem, and worth a detour from anywhere in the state.

This is not the Behringer-Crawford Museum from my youth! It's still a special place, but it seems…read morelike it has come into its own. I have fond memories of celebrating my grandparents' 50th anniversary at the museum, visiting during weekend trips to Devou Park and attending Girl Scout camps. The museum also once had a family heirloom on display. It had been maybe 20 years since I last visited, and I met my family at the museum last week to see the White Christmas exhibit. And what I found was a museum that has been renovated. It boasts the old street car and two-headed calf like before but now has more complete exhibit areas. I especially love the giant train set (was that there 20 years ago?) and special exhibit area. Excited to bring my kids to Behringer-Crawford so they can make their own memories.

The cost is 9 dollars. Well worth it
