I had a groupon to use for acupuncture. I have had acupuncture many times before, so was looking…read moreforward to it. Well was I in for a surprise, it wasn't just acupuncture. After filling out my forms he decided to concentrate on the major areas of concern for this session which was my neck, shoulders, back, lower back and my glutes (bum cheeks). I first received a vigorous massage on those areas, the pressure hard. I loved it! Finally a massage where they work those muscles! I could literally feel the heat of his hands as he worked those areas, my back was hot! Than I received acupuncture, on those areas with a tens machine attached to it. He covered me up and left me for a bit to relax. Just as I was about to snore, he came in and than did cupping. I have been cupped numerous times and usually its about 6 cups. No cups were spared: my back, shoulders, neck, hips and bum were cupped! My cups over runneth! Cups with acupuncture and tens machine! The triple whammy! He covered me up and left me to be for a bit. Well I full fledged crashed and woke myself up with my snoring! After that was done, he wiped the areas with a warm wet cloth, gave a quick rub to stipulate the areas, had me flip over and turned down the lights. I got my toes cracked and my fingers as well (which if you never have done, you must.) So satisfying! lol . He gave a face rub, head massage and than my session was over. Will I be back?? Our son has allergic reactions to every type of food except brown rice oat. I asked my friend, the athlete, who she goes to and she recommended Oksana at Art of Healing Pain. She told me that she had thought she had a stress fracture and was going to have to quit running right at the beginning of marathon season. After a couple of massage sessions with Oksana she was able to make it to every marathon she had planned on. She also managed to hit her time goals to boot. The Art of Healing pain is in the basement of a house in the Dickenfield neighbourhood. It's very clean and comfortable. Oksana is very thorough in her history taking and always seems to be able to get to the cause of your problems. I have been a regular of hers for a while now and I never leave disappointed. In fact I usually leave amazed at how much better I feel. She even manages to find the muscles that you didn't even realize were bothering you but were anyway. While on the massage table she's very careful at making sure you are comfortable and kept decent. She uses a blend of natural oils which leaves your skin soft but not oily. I was really looking forward to my appointment but I cancelled before I had it…read more I went online and used the online booking option, first mistake. After that I received 5 emails from Red Leaf Wellness. The first one was to confirm my appointment and I think that's fair and completely standard for business. The second was an email about the scheduling, the third was to confirm the confirmation I had made by a) making the appointment and b) by confirming the first email, the fourth email was a reminder emailing about my appointment, the fifth email was to get me to sign up for their patient records and fill out the intake forms. If your still with me after all that confusion with emails and annoyance of all the emails there is more! This is all one day after making my online booking for a week and half from now. Then after the emails I received a phone call from the office to tell me about the emails and that I haven't completed them. A few minutes later I received a text message about my appointment. I did not agree to text messages or emails but clearly that doesn't matter. I was also told I would need to provide a credit card so that if there was a last minute cancellation or a no show they would charge me. I understand this is for the protection of your business, but I haven't even walked in the door and you want my credit card. I'm trusting complete strangers based on their website with my well being, but after 5 harassing emails and a phone call to inform me I haven't completed your forms, I'm then told you require a credit card?? I'm supposed to trust you with my personal information, but you can't trust me for my first appointment? I canceled my appointment, and when asked if I want to rebook I said no. I was speaking with one of the two practitioners who runs this business. I would think when I said no there would have been more of a conversation about why I was cancelling. Oh well. Here's my review. I will find some where else to have acupuncture done.
