I've been coming here all summer for it's one saving grace: four 25-yard lap lanes, which rarely get too crowded. But I've found myself coming here less and less because I end up getting annoyed by the staff of teenagers who clown around so much you wonder if they're even getting paid to be here. I've literally watched them throw each other into the lap lanes where people are swimming and kick around a ball that repeatedly ends up in said lap lanes. I don't expect teenage lifeguards to be uber-professional, but I do expect them to act like they're at a job. It's not like $3/visit is much, but the fact that people pay to use this pool warrants some degree of order for crying out loud. I won't say much about the people who patronize this pool, but you can imagine how out of control this place can get if the staff is full of clowns. The pool itself isn't bad, although I'm not sure it's vacuumed more than a couple of times a week based on the crap I've seen collecting in the bottom. Today I actually saw a cockroach chilling on one of the lane dividers, if that gives you an idea of how seriously cleanliness is taken here. This pool has so much potential to be an oasis in the summer, and if it weren't so convenient I wouldn't come here at all. It's worth a few minutes in the car to head up to the DC pool at East Potomac, which is a Roman bath house compared to this place.

Not gonna lie, the lifeguards kinda run the pool like a prison yard but it's important to watch and monitor the kids for safety. Allentown Splash is 10 times better than what I expected and way better than ole faithful in Glendale. There is a line outside due to staffing, they do check bags which causes a slight delay but keeps everyone safe. Younger kids will have to pass the swim test to down the water slide. Some sections were closed I noticed or maybe the kids didn't want to go on that side...who knows.

Had a great time visiting this community pool with friends who are members. The main pool is…read morespacious and offers plenty of space to float about, play water games, or swim laps in two sectioned off lanes. They have a fun slide and diving board area as well. There is also a separate kid play area with one of those waterfall mushrooms/umbrellas. They also have an astro turf playground and a basketball court in addition to plenty of picnic areas and large bathrooms with showers/changing areas. The life guards also enforce a 15 minute adults only time in the main pool at quarter of each hour. Our friend's son participates in their swim lessons and for $20, you get a one-on-one session with a lifeguard for 30 minutes. The price seems pretty reasonable to me for this area and her son has become a much more confident swimmer over the past month. We had a relaxing experience in the sun and water with our friends. Definitely recommend this location to others.

There is a membership, so keep that in mind; even if you come to live in the neighborhood, there is currently a 5-6 year waiting list, as it is that high in demand! However, you are allowed to use the facilities as a guest, so if you know someone, rub elbows :D During the summer, it is packed to the brim - the lifeguards are on duty at the pool, and there is a small sandlot for playdates and those who are just not interested in the aquatics. This also one of the busiest pools I've ever seen at a military base, but they are just proving that if you create nice military facilities and maintain them well, troops and their families will spend the money to use them. The revenues then can be used to make them nicer. Unfortunately too many bases are not maintaining facilities which leads to troops not using them which leads to even less revenues to maintain and improve the facilities. Belvoir is doing it right with this pool. Maybe they could get sponsorships or advertising to bring in even more revenue to improve facilities. They have a large kidney-shaped pool that ranges from shallow with a small slide to a deep end with a low diving board. They also have a lap pool and a small kiddie pool as well. The lifeguards are friendly but attentive and really keep the kids in check. Don't run, kids, or they will blow their whistles. The pool and office's club are great...and I've never been a fan of either at previous bases. Wish they were all like this. Whoever decided to put the officer's club overlooking the Potomac back in the day was genius.

There are dedicated lanes for laps that are usually available and they have a baby pool with a shaded picnic area. They even have 4 grills and provide the propane for members to use. There is lots of shade in the late afternoon and early evenings. The swim team is very active for about 6 weeks, but otherwise, the deck can be very quiet and relaxing. They offer adult workouts for a small fee in the early mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Adult only swim on Sunday morning from 9-11am. They offer fun events like family bingo, float nights and movies, food trucks and parties if you like to socialize. They even offer yoga on the deck some Sunday mornings. Lots of families with kids and the members are all very friendly. Membership fee includes the entire family in your house, and even allows you to bring your Nanny to watch the kids during the day if you work.
