Wanted to do a plumbing project myself while off this weekend (BLACK FRIDAY). Ordered parts kit…read moreonline for Wed delivery. Started the project, disassembled the faucet. Started to reassembly faucet. Laid kit out and found they left one of the 10 pieces of the kit OUT. Called local big box store that I ordered from - they have no kits in stock, nor do they carry any of the individual parts (especially the ONE gasket I needed). Trying to avoid calling a plumber for a fix I can handle, but did not want water off in home while another part was shipped. Called Northside Plumbing, explained situation (on morning of BLACK FRIDAY) and was told if I could make it before noon they had what I needed. I was there in 30 minutes and with help of the staff found part that was left out of my kit (very common part from very popular faucet maker) Thanks to their understanding and customer service, water was back on in my house an hour later. I wish I caught the name of the gentleman that assisted me. THANK YOU NORTHSIDE PLUMBING

I went in and scheduled my appointment with Steve at northside. When my technician arrived Matt who I had been here before I asked him a lot of questions because I wasn't sure if what I wanted to do would work. I love using Northside they are the best in town! Great job!

We called Rolf Griffin to get a gas line pressure test done after NIPSCO subcontractors said we had…read morea leak somewhere in our gas line. Two technicians showed up with one, B, seeming to be in charge. I began to suspect something was off as he took quite a lot of time inspecting the lines, and other things instead of setting up to do the test, and then they went back to their van. After some time I went to the van to ask if they were going to do the pressure test. Long story short, he said if he did a pressure test at 15psi, it would blow out the pipes and create more leaks as our house is old, 62 years. He brought up other issues which seemed to have little to do with the gas line in question. They wanted over $1k to do the pressure test plus extra for any repairs. He recommended redoing all of the gas lines for about $3000! (Most places want in the $650 range for a pressure test.) I got the impression he didn't want to do any of the work. I told them I would think about it but called in another plumber. The next plumber showed up and inspected the lines and started doing the pressure test. His test was run well over the 15 psi that the Rolf guy said would blow out the lines. Right away he noticed that the heater I have had a valve just for the pilot light which was left open. When the NIPSCO subcontractors did their test, he did not see the small pilot light valve and left it open. Turns out I really didn't have a leak! My suspicions were correct, the Rolf Griffin technician was trying to take advantage of our gas being shut off by finding excuse to upsell us on work that we didn't need. Both the plumber I used and the NIPSCO technician who turned the gas back on said my lines were good, and refuted several points the RG tech had made, in particular, they were both surprised anyone would recommend replacing and redoing all of the lines considering the good condition they were in! As a side note, their texting system is a joke. I got texts from "Caitlin", most likely a bot, because it says if you have questions or comments reply to this text or call. I replied to her texts but either got no response or what appeared to be auto generated responses which ignored my comments, even the one to reply END to end their texts, as I got a text after that. A big frustrating waste of time and the $99 I paid for them to come out. He thought he had someone who was desperate as our gas had been shut off, and he could gouge us. I'm sure they train their techs to upsell, but this was ridiculous. I would never consider using them again. Edit July 9th.: As you can see Rolf Griffin replied to my asking me to contact them at that email. I did so, and haven't heard anything from them. To be honest I did not expect to, but there you have it.

So I wasn't sure if I should call a cardiologist or Roto-Rooter... I called to schedule a plumber around 4pm and was originally told they wouldn't have anyone available until the 8-10pm slot, which would be charged an additional $75 for an emergency appointment. (I thought "maybe I should have called the cardiologist..") We scheduled the emergency appointment slot and around 4:30pm I got a call that a plumber was available earlier than expected, so we would not be charged the additional emergency fee. Plumber arrived around 5pm and the job was completed in under an hour. He was very knowledgeable, polite, professional, and also resolved my husband's chest pain. The pricing for Roto-Rooter's services leans a bit on the higher end for plumbers in the Fort Wayne area, however Roto-Rooter is the only company offering a warranty for their services; we are happy to pay a little more to have that peace of mind!
