Updated 9/20: Kyle the manager at Rolf Griffin compensated us 50% for the inconvenience we had with the call center. The plumbers were so incredibly kind and also hilarious. Our sewage pipe is now sealed up and no longer leaking water. Update 9/15: Now it's actually fixed. The place where they did the pipe clean out they put a new cap on. It wasn't sealed right because they came back out to seal it again. It was before the seal getting water all over our basement. So fun to clean . Luckily the gentlemen who came out both times were professional and SO kind. The manager at Rolf Griffin, who is incredibly nice, called me. He is calling me on September 18th to talk about what the company can do to make it right . I'll update the stars once we get an idea of what's being given back due to this huge stressor. 9/14 Never ever use this company. Never use this company. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overpriced and dishonest.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Terrible choice. Use literally anyone else.

We called Rolf Griffin to get a gas line pressure test done after NIPSCO subcontractors said we had a leak somewhere in our gas line. Two technicians showed up with one, B, seeming to be in charge. I began to suspect something was off as he took quite a lot of time inspecting the lines, and other things instead of setting up to do the test, and then they went back to their van. After some time I went to the van to ask if they were going to do the pressure test. Long story short, he said if he did a pressure test at 15psi, it would blow out the pipes and create more leaks as our house is old, 62 years. He brought up other issues which seemed to have little to do with the gas line in question. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They wanted over $1k to do the pressure test plus extra for any repairs. He recommended redoing all of the gas lines for about $3000![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (Most places want in the $650 range for a pressure test.) I got the impression he didn't want to do any of the work. I told them I would think about it but called in another plumber. The next plumber showed up and inspected the lines and started doing the pressure test. His test was run well over the 15 psi that the Rolf guy said would blow out the lines. Right away he noticed that the heater I have had a valve just for the pilot light which was left open. When the NIPSCO subcontractors did their test, he did not see the small pilot light valve and left it open. Turns out I really didn't have a leak! My suspicions were correct, the Rolf Griffin technician was trying to take advantage of our gas being shut off by finding excuse to upsell us on work that we didn't need. Both the plumber I used and the NIPSCO technician who turned the gas back on said my lines were good, and refuted several points the RG tech had made, in particular, they were both surprised anyone would recommend replacing and redoing all of the lines considering the good condition they were in! As a side note, their texting system is a joke. I got texts from "Caitlin", most likely a bot, because it says if you have questions or comments reply to this text or call. I replied to her texts but either got no response or what appeared to be auto generated responses which ignored my comments, even the one to reply END to end their texts, as I got a text after that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A big frustrating waste of time and the $99 I paid for them to come out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He thought he had someone who was desperate as our gas had been shut off, and he could gouge us. I'm sure they train their techs to upsell, but this was ridiculous. I would never consider using them again. My daughter had the service contract with RG and her furnace went out last week. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The quote for replacement of the blower was over $800 so my daughter replaced it herself for the cost of the blower $200.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Still couldn't get heat in the house Sending and error signal. Unbeknown to us Rolf Griffin had disconnected parts of the furnace that she was unaware of and left it disconnected. My daughter called another repair company and they came out and reconnected the relays and the furnace is humming like new. $800 quote from RG, they paid $200 for the blower and $65 for another company to come out and reconnect what RG tech disconnected. After a few days with no heat and temps in the 30's overnight and 3 small kids in the house, I was furious at the lack of attention to detail from Rolf Griffin. If you disconnect it then return it to its original state before you leave. I could never recommend this company based on this event. I have had Rolf Griffin come out for the same problems/ symptoms 4 times in the last year. Had Jordan Jodway every time. Initially, the main sewer line got replaced due to roots, May 2022. Paid $4,300., before financing fees. Then the problem returned before the 6 months warranty was up, November 2022. So I had them out again to auger the line; which only barely worked afterwards. Once again I had them come out about 2 months ago, April 2023 and they told me that I needed to wait because the city was working, so there was standing water. The city is still working and about to start drilling under our street, but cannot continue to allow sewage to back up into our sinks. So, I had them come out once more today, July 2023. They told me that they "cannot clear the line; call Roto Rooter to jet it out. THAT THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I IGNORE THE PROBLEM." They charged me $449 with my card; WHICH I DID NOT GET BACK. I also wasn't given any paperwork for their visit today, so other than email and text I have no record of them coming out. To make matters worse, I had previously signed up for their membership plan which I was told would make it so that I would not have to pay the $99 inspection fee and their work/services would be guaranteed. As well as, 15% off service. Well, the plumber who came out said, "..has nothing in his notes about my membership. So I still have to pay anyways, and they cannot guarantee any work." It took several calls to get through to their answering service. I told her about Jordan(the plumber) keeping my card and that I never heard back from the company. I called Jordan via his number from Roto Rooter (turns out he used to work for them), but he says he doesn't have my card. So then I had to go call and cancel my card, which then meant I was unable to pay Roto Rooter $644. for coming out to clear line that Jordan couldn't. I am extremely pissed off with the service, or lack there of from Rolf Griffin. This all should've been resolved long ago. Instead, I feel like I have been taken advantage of. I've had good experiences with the field techs however the communication between the office and the techs is less than desirable. Two separate appointments with similar results. Scheduled a routine HVAC maintenance for our system....took the day off because, of course, they aren't able to commit to a specific time. Around 12:00, i ran out to get a sandwich and upon returnimg home about 15 minutes later i passed the service van as i turned down my street. ​ i called the main number to say i was home and to ask that they return to complete the service. And, of course, they wouldnt. Rather than reschedule, i simply went with another firm who scheduled me for a day and a specific time....and who charged less money for the exact same work. I called Rolf Griffin for service for a refrigerator leak from the freezer ice maker. I am a service member so they came out right away. Unfortunately, they said they could not do anything because it was not a water line problem. They did not know that it was because they did not pull out the refrigerator to look. They only looked underneath where the water was dripping out and said it was an appliance problem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They left after 10 minutes and an 84 dollar service charge.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I called Wisman appliance to schedule an appointment, but they could not come until the next day. Meanwhile the water was dripping on my wood floor causing the floor to warp. The appliance serviceman pulled out the refrigerator to immediately see it was a waterline to the ice maker problem and fixed it in 5 minutes at $105.00. The floor of course was damaged from the water dripping . UDATE: This issue was addressed directly by one of the managers. He came to our house and not only resolved the issue, but brought with him the original guy who came to our house to help him learn from what was done wrong. We appreciate it. We were quoted $200 for the drains in our sink to be fixed. During their visit, they broke their tool off in our pipes and stated that WE would be required to pay $1500 for them to rip out our flooring and remove the broken tool - a mistake that THEY made. Extremely laughable. This situation warrants a zero star review but I'm unfortunately limited to an unfitting single star. We will NOT be paying this company a dime more than the initially quoted $200. Good luck trying to swindle people. read more

We had a new AV put in two weeks ago and ran into some bewildering problems. It reached the point that on of the managers started to oversee the problems. I had a service plan with Rolf. They came said everything was good. 3 hours later my heat didn't work. They came out and said my propane was to low. So I had a emergency call out. Unit still didn't work after I had to pay extra to have the propane delivered in the night. They said they would come back the next day with a gas valve. He came back after i had to call several times. He came back to troubleshoot said yep it's the gas valve and then left to go get it he didn't bring it. My house got to 40 degrees with young children and me having stage 4 cancer. My pipes also froze do to this and flooded my house when they thawed out finally on Christmas day. Was great to have a flood in my kitchen. Also asked to speak with a Supervisor still haven't heard from one. Wouldn't recommend and will be canceling my plan with them. read more

About a month ago I submitted a great review for Rolf Griffin. I enrolled in their Advantage Program and had my entire HVAC replaced to include a water softener and AC unit. I thought everything was great. UNTIL TODAY! I have been in a refinance with Rocket Mortgage for 3 months and I just found out that Rolf Griffin placed a $31,000 lien on my property for the next 10 years WITHOUT me every knowing about it NOR was it EVER mention. Now my refinance has been withdrawn. BEWARE of FALSE advertisement from Rolf Griffin. I dispise them for LYING to me just to get my money. I called Rolf Griffin on Friday around 2pm and there were some phone issues but moved past that. Finally was able to schedule an appointment which they said they would be out by the end of the day. They did come out, all was well and I was thankful. When they showed up I was not here but I had someone at my house and he called me to tell me that it needed a control board that would cost around $600-$700 and that parts have been delayed sometimes anywhere from 5-6 weeks and considering my unit was according to them "around 20 years old" I'm a single mother and I absolutely cannot go that long without heat so they asked if I would be interested in a furnace replacement and they could send out a salesperson that night and considering my desperate situation I agreed so the salesman came out that evening actually at around 7pm when I would be home. The salesman proceeded to give me a few different furnace options but really pushed some "advantage plan scam" $220/month for 10 years but they would take care of all maintenance, parts, etc for that time. Ultimately would be a cost of $26,000 and of course they tried to sell me a new water heater as well. They never did give me a price for just a unit and install without the advantage scam pricing. I didn't make a decision that night, next day I called someone else and they came out and actually found it to be the gas valve on my 7 year old furnace not 20 years old and I didn't need a "$600-$700 control board or a new furnace after all! I feel like they tried to take advantage of the desperate situation as well as me as a woman and a parent and the outrageous markup of pricing explains why y'all living in huge houses driving new cars and I'm not sure how you sleep at night. The technicians are either trained to be scammers and get a commission or they are not very thorough. This company should be ashamed of themselves! read more

Rolf Griffins got to us on the same day we called about a slow leak in a pipe above our water heater. Serviceman Ryan checked it out and gave us options. We chose to replace an 11 year old water heater, thereby correcting the leaking valves and pipes. Ryan our in the new water heater the next day in just over an hour. First of all. Salesman follows the repairmen around. Both showed up. They fixed the blower that I myself kmew was needing replaced. Then talked me into a tuneup. Yes my unit is extremely old. However it is still capable of getting us through the pandemic so that our finances would be in better shape. During the tune up the repairman pulls the control unit out. Then proceeds to show me what he claims is a burnt spot on the pc board. I have soldered and repaired many in my life time. There was nothing but excessive epoxy in the spot he said was burnt. Epoxy is used as a coating on boards. My wife taught me 25 yrs ago how to spot bad spots on a pc board. Many of her boards are floating in our satellites and international space station. A month later problems again. Rolf again. Same repairman. Told me he would have another diagnostic fee. Told him I paid a membership fee for two. He said that was the trip charge only. Helpful company during a pandemic eh? He and I got into disagreement about him filling out the paperwork on my previous bill. In the comments, which I didnt notice until I pulled out the papers from that earlier visit, he had entered the commment about the burnt board. After he and I got into the disagreement about the board I told him to leave. Yes at this point I am not in a good mood. I already had someone coming as a second opinion. New company comes and in ten minutes finds a 4 inch hose. Replaced it for a trip charge only. No diagnostic fee. Aged hose should have been noticed in Rolf's first visit repair and TUNE UP. They did not. To be fair I didnt give him a chance to find the hose on the second visit as I made him leave. Rolf charges you a trip fee and diagostic fee. Most companies do. However Rolf has a membership progam which gives you 2 FREE trip charges. So they counted the first visit as one free one and the second as the other. That membership fee is $168. Which was paid on the first visit with the other $735 dollar blower replacement. So those trip charges are actually not free are they? And gone now. Rolf will get on here an point out the other so called advantages of being a member, but in most peoples mind the $168 paid those two FREE trip charges. First trip salesman was there as I mentioned. He gave me a verbal guess-tement of $7000 to $8000 to replace both air and heat. I DO need both replaced. However I told them my wife no longer works due to health issues. So we will need time to get our finances in shape. No compassion, they lie to try to sell a $600 control unit. (pc board is in control unit.) I caught that though so the old pc board is still working fine. New company for same furnace and air conditioner is $5450. Both units Trane. Rolf is the highest priced heating and air in town. I I found many complaints from everyone I talked to. I started asking around as I work for myself and see many people all day long. Not one person recommended them other than my neighbor. He originally recommended them as they replaced both his systems. He is seeing the light now! Just hang in there as Rolf usually comments on these complaints here on yelp. It will be excuses. And they will blame my attitude which was great until I was showed a fine pc board they were claiming was burnt. Stay away from these people!!!! read more

I had Rolf Griffin come out to do regular maintenance on my AC. The technicians were very nice and did a good job, they even notices that my water heater was dripping a little bit. A sales rep came out at the end and got me an estimate on and a couple different payment options for replacing the water heater. I told him that I would think about it and call them when I made a decision. He said do you want us to call you in a couple days? I replied no and then he said to me you're not going to call us. Well, now I'm definitely not going to call you. I'll take my business elsewhere if they are going to make remarks like that. What an ongoing fiasco. putting in new flooring so we needed to have bathroom fixtures removed. service experts took out the vanity and toilet. after the tech left to get something, the pipes from vanity sink backed up and leaked thru ceiling into basement. Cleaned it up and put buckets to catch drips, comment when returned was "well, it was fine when I left.". When returned few days later to get new main water valve, no apparent issues until we tried to run washing mchine, which wouldn't run as guy left that valve (not sure which as there are 3 nearby) closed, so we couldn't wash clothes until they came back another day. after floors put in and a scheduled and verified appointment to replace toilet and vanity, tech called half hour after scheduled time that he wouldn't be there for another hour and a half. when he arrived he refused to install vanity and sink as it wasn't on his order form and would take too long since it was know after 3:00 and needed another tech. new appt 2 days later on Thursday and tech is sick (that happens and we understand but it should've been completed already) so now we have to wait again until Tuesday. Called to speak to manager yesterday morning and haven't received a response. read more

Early Saturday morning we woke up to no heat. I immediately called Rolf Griffin Service Experts because we have been long time customers, and also have the monthly service agreement. When I soke with someone on Saturday, they told me they could not guarantee someone coming out because they were overbooked, I explained to them I have young children, and that also I thought that as part of the service agreement I would priority in booking my appointment. The operator said the best he could do was put me on the overbook list, and they would be in contact when they were on their way. Since we have children, we ended up calling another company, Brockman Electric, who came out two hours after being called. We ended purchasing an entire new furnace and A/C unit through this company. On Monday, I contacted Rolf Griffin to end my service agreement, (I still had not received a call for them regarding when they would be to our home.). The woman was very nice and apologized. She also mentioned that my call had never been sent over to them for service. I requested that a manager contact my by the close of business on Monday, so we could discuss this issue further, I am writing this on Wednesday and no one has bothered to call me back. Oh and they also required me to pay another month of my service plan in order to end it. I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR QUALITY SERVICE! Customer Satisfaction Guarantee does not mean a thing at this place. Bought a new heating system from this place last year. Had nothing but problems with it all winter. Found the system is not manufactured to work in climates where the temperature gets below 40 degrees. We live in Northern Indiana. We'll be paying for this system a long time in purchase cost and operating expense for it not to do what was "Guaranteed" for it to do. Called for an A/C service call at 4:30 in the afternoon. Was told they could get a tech there that night. Cancelled plans for the night. Tech called to say he was on the way at 6:30pm. Over two hours later, still no tech, and dispatch had no idea when he was coming. Now I don't know where the tech was dispatched from, but their service area is not that big for a tech to be on the way and not arrive in less than 2 hours. read more

At 2:55 PM, I received a phone call from Tony at Rolf Griffin saying that he had just been told of our appointment, so he would not be able to make it in the time frame I was given. AND ABRAHAM THAT HELPED GETTING ALL THREE OF MY ISSUES TAKEN CARE OF. Mark H was fantastic w/my initial plumbing inspection. I had requested my water heater be flushed. A small part was needed. After thorough inspection, I understood what my additional options were available along w/prices for each. I even signed up for the service plan for plumbing as I've been very pleased w/ Rolf & hvac-a/c service plan. GREAT COMPANY TO WORK WITH! Mark was great & customer service is super! Joel S was here for HVAC-R. He worked on the yearly maintenance for my a/c. It was a regularly schedule appt but the compensator (sp?) was well worn and he fully explained things to me and i decided to have this replaced today while he was already here. Very nice guy to work with. Knowledgeable. Abraham was here too for HVAC. It was my regularly schedule maintenance for my furnace. I knew the (inductor) motor was going bad, but felt it was running loader than normal at the end of the last season, so i had this replaced today. Also, he stated the flame sensor was bad. I decided to have these taken care of asap and when yes, this coud be replaced today after a trip to the office for the proper part, i jumped at the chance to just get everything taken care of today. I called this company and told them what was wrong as I set the appointment. I wanted my furnace blower motor replaced. I was told $99 for trip charge and then they would discuss the cost to repair from there. I agreed to that. Two people showed up in two different vehicles. It quickly became clear one was a repair man, and one had only the job of selling new units at exponential costs. I told the repair guy what was wrong. He proceeded to check the furnace, and determine what I said was right. He then stated that also my fan was dirty, and my furnace was old and other parts may fail soon. He said the blower motor needed replaced. I knew that already. Then he said may fan was dirty and it needed replaced. Then he said my exhaust motor would likely go out soon and it needed replaced. He then quoted me the parts only price for the blower motor I knew needed replaced at $900. And the fan at $600. Labor not included. I googled the cost for the motor and it was clearly under $300. I asked why the part price was so high, and was told "A list customers get one price, and I was not A list so that's my price." Then the other guy did his thing, and tried to sell me an all new unit for literally what would have been half the value of my entire house, paid over 10 years. "But service was included" was the key. And "a free humidifier" was a topper. I only wanted heat for my children that night. At a fair price. When I couldn't afford what they were selling, they charged me $177, trip fee and diagnostic fee. Even though I told them what was wrong from the start. In the end, I got the blower motor for $233 after tax, and cleaned the fan to like new quickly and for free. I bought wire strippers, and a quarter inch but driver to do the fairly simple task they wanted $2000 to do. And it cost me $240 total to do it. Watching only one you tube video to learn how. This company doesn't care if your on a budget and your kids are cold. They only care about selling you a new furnace and AC for $25,000. I would not recommend this company if you just need a simple fix. read more

My neighbor had service with Rolf Griffin for the past two days working on his septic. The first day I was working out in my yard when i came around my garage one of their man was walking away from my garage door. This was far away from the septic work and on my property with no reason to be peeping in my garage door. The second day again working out in my yard I locked my garage door but once. i had left the door ajar a little. When I came back it was wide open and an item of my daughters had been moved. Not sure if anything was taken then or if he was casing my garage to come back and break in later. I will call the police about this peeper in case this is a problem for other Rolf Griffin customers and their neighbors . I would not trust them in house after this experience. Furnace (13 year old Lennox) stopped working. Did some troubleshooting and found ignitor was open (high resistance). Called Roth for service. Technition came out and confirmed ignitor was bad and might have replacement in truck but, because voltage to ignitor was 115V instead of 80V, the board was bad. He would have to locate one and call me next day with quote. He called next day and quoted $850 (plus I had already paid $99 for initial service call). I had already researched control board and it was not designed for 80V output but instead chopped voltage and turned voltage off once gas ignited. I told him I didn't think board was bad and would just replace the ignitor myself. He said he had never seen an ignitor go bad without the board being bad. I ordered ignitor on line for $26, it arrived in 2 days, l installed in 1 hour, and it's working great. I suppose it could fail down the road but I'll gamble $26 versus $850! Technition was pleasant through entire process. read more

The technician Ben Moore did a great job servicing my furnace and doing a system tune up. I decided to purchase a service agreement and also a whole home humidifier and air purifier. It was the follow-up visit was very sub par. Basically the technician never showed up to install the equipment. I had made multiple calls, but no results. I wasted a day of vacation time for a very poor customer experience. I have since cancelled my service agreement and also the equipment. I will be working with another vendor for my HVAC needs. read more

They called yesterday to confirm appointment for A/C service on service contract. They were supposed to be there between 2:00-4:00pm and call when they are on the way. At 4:05pm, my tenant calls me wondering where they are. I call RG and speak to Sara. She apologizes that someone did not call me if there was a delay and offers to reschedule if tenant has to be to work. I find that he is available for a couple hours yet. I call back and talk to someone else, some guy. He finds out that technician is delayed and takes responsibility for not calling me like that is what he supposed to say. I am not feeling it. I have been a long time customer of RG and spent a lot of money on HVAC and service with them. Usually good. Very unhappy this time. Made me look bad to my tenant. Would be nice to be compensated for my time and inconvenience. read more
