At first this buffet was great, but boy has it turned! From the rude man that seats you to the nasty servers and food. Everyone that works there is absolutely miserable with one exception, the gentleman that is usually at the hibachi. The restaurant could use more of him and his upbeat and friendly personality. Food is always cold and the meat has some interesting textures! Run in the opposite direction if you want buffet drive to slippery rock! Food was average. It's a Buffett so the food is sitting under a heat lamp and on a steaming tray. Great selection. They had something for everyone. Including ham and french fries. Yesterday I had lunch at this restaurant. It was clean and they had a pretty good assortment of food including hibachi. The sushi selection was okay but I would've preferred more variety. The ice cream choices were rainbow and orange sherbet as well as the usual chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla in styrofoam containers. An employee was too quick to remove my dirty dishes. On the spur of the moment I decided to ask my family if they would be willing to skip making Christmas dinner (Prime Rib ) and go out for dinner instead. My dad has always wanted to try a Chinese buffet so he immediately responded with a resounding YES! We found Fortune Star Buffet & Grill in Butler, PA and loaded up the group and headed out. We thought that we would find the restaurant quiet, but were shocked when we pulled in the parking lot and it was packed! We waited about 15 minutes for a table and were seated close to the buffet. I think that everyone united the selection of buffet items available. We tried everything from the sushi to the desserts and enjoyed our options of Chinese dishes. We especially liked the spicy chicken dish and I personally loved the cheese buns. I think that for what you pay for the food was good. I was very happy with the selection of food as well as fresh sushi. The staff constantly kept every item stocked and the food bars wiped down and clean. Staff was very attentive and courteous, and quick to remove empty plates or refill drinks. They had a tip jar at the sushi and hibachi grill bar (give or not, there was no pressure). They even have a dessert and fruit bar that was always stocked and clean as well as a soup bar. The only reason for the 4 stars is the price of the meal. The two times I have been here (Saturday afternoons) the fairly large restaurant was almost full - which to me is a good sign that the food is fresh, hot and good. There are some choices for those who may be in your party but do not like Chinese food - such as a salad bar, ham, sausage, fries and chicken. There is also fresh sushi and a Mongolian grill for you to choose your own ingredients to be cooked up on the grill. Tried to go in to this place and the guy at the front was very rude. My friends and I are in town for the weekend and wanted to change up what we have bin eating. Sounded good tell this guy looked at us up and down Because we have tattoos and told us they were closed. I went on Mother's Day and the price was 14.95 which is a little higher than normal. It's a really big buffet and the dining room is really big.it was clean and the bathrooms were too. They had your normal selections the crab legs looked terrible and had black spots on them but when I tried them they were really tasty I mean really tasty. I was pleasantly surprised by this gem. It can be tricky to find. I spent 10 minutes or so circling the mall parking lot avoiding construction to find this place. I finally had to call and get them to give me directions in. The buffet was great and it was spread out so there were no long lines waiting for the only line of food. The selections were great as well. The sushi was surprisingly good for a Chinese food buffet. They also have ICE CREAM! This is a nice surprise if you are better than me at not over stuffing myself with the hot portion of the meal. The waitstaff was very friendly and were attentive, picking up any plates we had finished with or refilling out drinks. I was skeptical about visiting this place because of my own stubbornness. I'd been loyal to another chinese food joint in the area, all my life. A coworker of mine finally convinced me to go to Fortune Star for lunch, though. And WOW! These people don't play around. There are four hot foods bars, a salad bar, a soup bar, an ice cream bar, AND a hibachi! And there was a specific bar that had a great selection of "American" foods, which I've always found to be helpful when going to a place like this with wary children or a friend who is only so-so on Asian foods. The service was excellent. They refilled our drinks before they were even finished, took our plates quickly, and seemed to always be keeping the place as clean as possible.
