The Long Review I have lived enough life to confidently say that I miss the good old days. As a child I lived in a carefree world, feeling secure, loved, and protected. Protected by our parents and our society. We were encouraged to be children, we were encouraged to be innocent, we were encouraged to see that the past belonged to time, we were encouraged to right our wrongs, we were encouraged to honor strangers who would give their lives for us, we were encouraged to be brave, we were encouraged to have empathy for humankind, not just our kind. We lived in ignorance, never realizing the evil that surrounded us. Lots of horrible things happened but somehow SOCIETY shielded US. Moms and dads we never met brought fear into us with one statement " I'm calling your parents". We all knew it was a bluff but just in case... We lived at a place called The Dragon. A place we had only seen on National Geographic or PBS. A mysterious place across the ocean with mysterious people that looked exotic and talked differently than we did. The differences fascinated us. My Dad sent my mom a beautiful jewelry box that had a window in the front. I used to stare at the little hut inside that window, trying to see if anyone was hiding inside the windows. There was a bamboo bridge that went across the water with a sawmill that spun around when the music played. A hot pink lotus sat in the corner and reflected off of the mirrors. My dad walked through the door on a Marine Corps salary and told Mom to fix up because we were going out someplace special. We were going to eat Chinese, always making a pit stop for the one spoiled kid who had to have McDonald's. That special place was a place like this little bit of nostalgia. Some of you know what I mean, others never will. A place where they serve hot tea, and those little crispy things that are addictive. Where the waitress seems genuinely happy to take your order and even engage in small talk. A PuPu Platter where you don't wonder if they will substitute an item because it's all good. A kids-size noodle that is enough for a grown man, at a price that won't leave you broke till next payday. It turns out "Old fashion" isn't a bad thing after all. read more

My cousin was visiting and wanted to enjoy some Chinese food so we stopped in. It was around 2:30pm on a Monday. We were seated and waited a few minutes for a waitress. She took our orders and brought nice hot tea on a cold day. First our wonton soup arrived - it was delicious. Then the eggroll which also was delicious. I walked in to get some food to go. The appearance was clean and I was greeted by the waitress right away. I easily would have felt comfortable eating here by my self or with my family. I placed my order (Chefs special -Orange Beef) and was told it would be about 15 min. I told them I'd take a quick walk around the mall. I arrived back in 13 min and my hot meal was waiting for me. . Went there for lunch and was seated right away. The place was clean and the staff really friendly. They have a full menu and then they have a lunch menu with both Japanese and Chinese dishes that run about 1/2 the price of their dinners. They also offer sushi on their lunch menu. I ordered a cup of egg drop soup and a fried spring roll that came with sweet dipping sauce. The soup was very good with lots for flavor. The spring roll at first glance seemed to be deep fried a little too long, but when I bit into it was perfect. For the main course I ordered Broccoli beef and fried rice. There was enough food for two people to share, so there was plenty of food. They did not skimp, and the food was delicious. I also had a coke to drink so the meal was under $15.00 with a 22% tip. Quite the surprise! Food was absolutely excellent and the atmosphere is lovely. Service has been amazing the 2 times I've been here and I highly recommend their lunch specials. Quite a value for what you get. This also makes for a great date night restaurant. They have a large Chinese and Japanese menu as well as sushi. Well traveling back from vacation a few weeks ago, decided to give this place a try as there wasn't a lot of options for dinner after 7. Atmosphere was nice, food was of reasonable price for a chinese sit down restaurant in a mall. Ordered the Pineapple chicken that came with soup...haven't had Wonton soup in awhile, was just as I remembered not salty and flavorful. Always great food, and service. Always treated well. Nice and relaxing environment. I did carry out tonight, ordered through the app which I usually never do. Love their sushi. I selected hand roll when I ordered by mistake, got home, opened it. I'm sure it would have tasted great but me being me I don't usually step out of the norm. I called, spoke with who I believe is the manager. He told me not a problem and to be back in 10 minutes. Drove back with the original order, he said for me to keep it, handed me the order I originally wanted. I went to hand him my card, and he said no, and not to worry about it. I asked him if he was sure a few times, and he said absolutely and to have a good night. It was my mistake, we both knew it...yet he was gracious enough to take care of me. Been a while since I posted an update, and it's time. I continue to be a weekly customer at Dragon. The service I receive every time, it's truly outstanding by both the servers and the store manager. The sushi remains is one of my favorites, although I've ventured out into their Chinese food lately. The Black Pepper Steak is truly awesome. Dragon's Hot and Sour soup is the best in town. There aren't many Chinese places in Butler to pick from. So far, Dragon had been one of the better ones. Unfortunately, the order of Chicken Yakitori given to me last night was completely raw. This, combined with missing a few sides of rice, lead to a very disappointing dinner of much wanted take-out. Nevertheless, I'd like to hope this was a singular error by an otherwise solid resteraunt. Here's hoping they start cooking the food, and not just packing it. read more

Dragon is a fantastic restaurant with great staff and wonderful cuisine. I live approximately an hour away from the restaurant and have made multiple trips back to butler just for the food. This was our first time ordering from Dragon, but it's really hard to find good Chinese around Butler without driving around 30 minutes. I called in our order and the worker on the phone was kind and he told us our food would be ready in 15 minutes! We ordered scallion pancakes, general tso's chicken, an egg roll, pad thai, and vegetable fried rice. Everything was excellent and giant portions! The only thing I didn't ask about was the meat for the pad thai which is shrimp and the breading on the general tso's did get a little soggy, but my boyfriend wasn't complaining. I wanted to like Dragon - but it just didn't work for me. I ordered the Crispy Walnut Combo. I understand that food isn't nearly as good when it is ordered "to-go" versus dining in. But aren't Chinese restaurants supposed to excel at take-out quality? The dish was as far from Crispy as you can get. It was a soggy coated mess. The flavor was decent and the seafood was fresh - but the meal itself was drowning in a mushy doughy liquid, making it somewhat unedible. Adding insult to injury was the fact that the fried rice side was way undercooked. This is a staple of Chinese food and the fact that they got this wrong speaks volumes. It's a shame because the flavors and quality were decent. If you don't know how to properly prepare or cook the main dishes (especially given that everyone is ordering "to-go" these days), maybe you need to revisit kitchen operations or the menu? read more

We have ordered take out two times from Dragon and have enjoyed both meals. Triple delight both times and general Tao and sizzling delight. Both delights were very similar just different meats/seafood and very good. Next time I'm going to ask for a little spice to the final product, same with General Tso. Notice I said next time. We finally decided to order take-out from here (which during this pandemic, they brought the food out to the car for us). The food quality and quantity was very good for the price. I'm pretty sure I'll be having Chinese for lunch or dinner for the rest of the week. I do have to warn you about the General Tso's. My daughter and I came here on their opening day. It was absolutely the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten and seemed needlessly expensive. My daughter ordered the chicken lo mein. The noodles were extremely mushy and had little to no flavor. I ordered the General Tso's chicken and it was so hot/spicy it was inedible. I don't mind spicy food. But this was so hot there was no flavor just burning hot spice. I complained to the manager/owner. He kind of argued with me. He said "that's how the chef prepared it". I explained "I'm aware that someone prepared this food this way, but it is not edible"! He refused to take it off my bill. I had to order something else. I ordered the mushy chicken lo mein and threw it away a couple days later. The waitress was super nice but incredibly slow. I'm pretty sure I won't ever go back. In fact, I was at the mall last night shopping and was hungry. I considered this place but decided the risk on the food wasn't worth the price. read more

Worst sushi I have ever eaten. Spicy tuna was like mush wrapped in rice, the dynamite sushi was like someone threw up coleslaw crab all over it. The only way to make it edible was to add soy and ginger to it. Will stick elsewhere. read more

Went here for dinner with my fiance and 2 kids. Asked for extra sauce with general tsos and the chicken to be well done for my fiance and I to share. When the general tsos came they were not only not well done but were so pink and cold in the middle. Before I realized the chicken wasn't done, I had to ask for the extra sauce again. Then the waitress finally brings the extra sauce and at this point I had already taken the plate to who I thought was a manager and he proceeded to tell me this is the second time this week it had happened. I told him I did not want them remade that I would pay for my children's meal and be on my way. I get the bill and they made sure they charged me for that extra sauce we didn't eat since the chicken was raw. I was offered nothing for the inconvenience. Don't waist your time. read more

Very good food, excellent service. The egg rolls are great, made using what I traditionally think of spring roll wrappers. Food was excellent, perfectly cooked, and a very reasonable quantity for the price. Most Asian food has a corn starch coating, which can be gummy or burnt, but this was deftly handled. Plating was very nice for a simple lunch. I ordered a spicy dish that was just mildly spicy - a judicious choice for lunch. Tea was promptly refilled, and very nicely hot. Meal timing was spot on. I sincerely hope this place survives as it is in a mall that is gradually shuttering all the store fronts. And, more importantly, it is the best Chinese/Japanese food within a good 20 mile radius of our residence. Recommended. read more

This is the only Chinese food I was able to find Butler. It seems to be the only Asian restaurant in Butler. It's located inside a mall. The miso soup was ok. The seaweed was dried up in strings instead of flat leaves. The Japanese green salad ginger dressing was too oily and the spice didn't come out. It felt like eating oil on top of lettuce. I ordered the sizzling trio. The display is excellent but the sauce was too salty. The vegetables and meat were exceptional cooked with the vegetables not too over cooked and the meat soft. The fried rice was just rice and eggs. Pretty plain. Add the dish with rice reduced the saltiness. Overall great dish. Definitely will come back since this is the ONLY Asian food here. read more

This is an ok place. I've lived in Japan for a few years so I know my food. This place is ok. The ribs were way too dry for me. The sushi was simple & just ok. I ordered general tso's chicken. It was different but ok. The fried rice was lackluster. The egg rolls & crab Rangoon were both good though. Crispy yet not over done nor soggy. But the waitress was friendly & spunky. We seemed to be waiting with empty cups a lot. I loved the big dragon inside & it reminded me of my beloved Japan. I may return one day to give it another try & if I do I'll update this post. read more

Atmosphere good . Service good to even. Food excellent menu full with some surprises. I didn't try any sushi so I can't comment. The most tender beef I have ever had. I had beef in a curry sauce. Extremely good. Food came out fast and hot. Good portions. My wife had a combination of chicken,shrimp and scallops. Presentation excellent. Price good. Ordered dinner on a business trip. When I got back to the hotel, I realized I had been given the wrong order. I called the restaurant to remedy the situation and have my correct order delivered. Instead the manager was extremely rude to me and did not seem to understand why I was upset. I will not order from this restaurant if I am ever in the area again. read more

The food is pretty good, but don't have it delivered. We just ordered food to be delivered to our house, which is about a mile from the restaurant. It took an hour and a half and two more phone calls to the restaurant before our order finally showed up. My steamed chicken was not steaming. The young lady that delivered the food had a "whatever" attitude about it taking so long, didn't apologize, and just said they've been really busy. She also came to the wrong door. Update: Shortly after writing my review the manager of the restaurant called to apologize for the bad service we received, and he offered us a discount on our next meal.
