an empty restaurant with tables and booths

At first glance of the exterior you know it's going to either suck or be amazing. Glad to report it was absolutely the best Chinese food I've had in years. I always compare all Chinese buffets or take out places to NYC and this is the first restaurant in 20 years that I can say compares! Buffet was refreshed at least 4 times while we were seated. Everything was made in small batches and nothing sat for long. Absolutely loved every single thing I tried as did everyone else at the table. Can't recommend this place enough! Don't walk, run to En Lai and enjoy all the flavorful dishes they have to offer!

    Bugs in my food

I hope you like bugs, DO NOT EAT here. Others have warned of the bugs in the dining area. I recently found a bug in my food. It appeared to be what looked like a sweat bee. I wasted my money and it was take out so I know they will not refund me. You could not pay me to eat here again. Save your money and your stomachs.

The lunch buffet was affordable and even came with refillable drinks. The dining area was clean, quiet, and there was a lot of seating available. There were many vegetarian options including vegetable egg rolls, lo mein, and fried rice. The food was flavorful and enjoyable.

I do have a weakness for Chinese buffets, and En Lai isn't the biggest or best, but the food is good. It's clean, with a buffet that is on the smaller side - two islands for entrees and fried foods, one island for fruit and desserts with ice cream and soup. The food is hot, fresh and tasty, and servers keep a close eye on it, but as at most Chinese buffet/restaurants the dishes are always better off the menu.

    Beef and broccoli!

I have been eating at En Lai for over 15 years and will continue. Excellent buffet and hot sour soup.

Not authentic. Tastes like microwave food. Bummer because the owner is super sweet. Nice little place as well. Food thumbs down.

I ordered the chicken and broccoli with egg drop soup for delivery. My order came in the time they quoted. The food was great and fresh!

She brought us a pot of tea and some hot sake that was kept warm in a tea pot filled with warm water which was really great. She also brought a beer that we had to open and pour which seemed odd since they have a full bar. I started with some hot and sour soup that arrived lukewarm at best. The flavor was good with just the right amount of heat but it definitely needed to be warmer. Our main entrees were the shrimp, chicken & scallops with garlic sauce and vegetables; the eggplant and shrimp; and the healthy steamed chicken with broccoli. It really pains me to say this but all three dishes were not served hot and the sauces were really not heated through and the flavors were so disappointing - nothing like the Chen's we knew and loved. The veggies in the first dish were raw and hard peppers and onions and carrots and the broccoli was very raw and barely even heated in the healthy chicken dish. The shrimp were very good and the eggplant was tasty. Maybe there is a new chef or this was just an off night. Very disappointing meal, we are sorry to say.

The Long Review I…read morehave lived enough life to confidently say that I miss the good old days. As a child I lived in a carefree world, feeling secure, loved, and protected. Protected by our parents and our society. We were encouraged to be children, we were encouraged to be innocent, we were encouraged to see that the past belonged to time, we were encouraged to right our wrongs, we were encouraged to honor strangers who would give their lives for us, we were encouraged to be brave, we were encouraged to have empathy for humankind, not just our kind. We lived in ignorance, never realizing the evil that surrounded us. Lots of horrible things happened but somehow SOCIETY shielded US. Moms and dads we never met brought fear into us with one statement " I'm calling your parents". We all knew it was a bluff but just in case... We lived at a place called The Dragon. A place we had only seen on National Geographic or PBS. A mysterious place across the ocean with mysterious people that looked exotic and talked differently than we did. The differences fascinated us. My Dad sent my mom a beautiful jewelry box that had a window in the front. I used to stare at the little hut inside that window, trying to see if anyone was hiding inside the windows. There was a bamboo bridge that went across the water with a sawmill that spun around when the music played. A hot pink lotus sat in the corner and reflected off of the mirrors. My dad walked through the door on a Marine Corps salary and told Mom to fix up because we were going out someplace special. We were going to eat Chinese, always making a pit stop for the one spoiled kid who had to have McDonald's. That special place was a place like this little bit of nostalgia. Some of you know what I mean, others never will. A place where they serve hot tea, and those little crispy things that are addictive. Where the waitress seems genuinely happy to take your order and even engage in small talk. A PuPu Platter where you don't wonder if they will substitute an item because it's all good. A kids-size noodle that is enough for a grown man, at a price that won't leave you broke till next payday. It turns out "Old fashion" isn't a bad thing after all.
