Ive been going here for nearly half a decade, its a favorite upon my family. We came here for my brother's birthday and were not let down. We always leave with leftovers from their large portions and we have never had a bad server here. The restaurant is filled with fishtanks and they have the cutest koi pond outside. I've only been here once. The food, service, and atmosphere were all good. No real complaints.

It was a dreary Friday night and Chinese food from one of our long time favs seemed in order. We were seated by the huge fish tanks which we love and greeted by our friendly waitress. She brought us a pot of tea and some hot sake that was kept warm in a tea pot filled with warm water which was really great. She also brought a beer that we had to open and pour which seemed odd since they have a full bar. I started with some hot and sour soup that arrived lukewarm at best. The flavor was good with just the right amount of heat but it definitely needed to be warmer. Our main entrees were the shrimp, chicken & scallops with garlic sauce and vegetables; the eggplant and shrimp; and the healthy steamed chicken with broccoli. It really pains me to say this but all three dishes were not served hot and the sauces were really not heated through and the flavors were so disappointing - nothing like the Chen's we knew and loved. The veggies in the first dish were raw and hard peppers and onions and carrots and the broccoli was very raw and barely even heated in the healthy chicken dish. The shrimp were very good and the eggplant was tasty. Maybe there is a new chef or this was just an off night. Very disappointing meal, we are sorry to say. read more

Long time ago used to go for lunch buffet but no longer have it. Most of their menu is pretty good. Egg rolls are really good as well as Beef & Broccoli as well as General Tsao's White Chicken. The walk from the parking lot to the door past the beautiful koi fish pond sets you up for the goodness that awaits inside. As you look around upon entering you know it's going to be great because the resort and tribute to family is proudly on display above in pictures. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a really nice peaceful demeanor. We were greeted with warm smiles and offered assistance with choosing our meal. The portions were large and with an appetizer & dinner meal it was filling for two. This is definitely a great place to enjoy tasty food and great service. Not consistent in food quality. Most of the dishes are "OK at best". Last order was today and my pan fried dumplings were not hot and not fried enough as they were still very doughy. I guess they didn't thaw them out enough LOL. Lobster sauce was basically water last time I ordered it. I ended up throwing away away a lot of their take out because it is simply very sub par and not worth driving back to them to return. Also, they NEVER offered me a refund or remake on anything that was made poorly. Just said "we will tell the cooks to do better next time". My Chinese wife is always telling me stop going there. There are other options in the area, so they will be getting more of my business instead of Chen's. I do not recommend this place. If anyone thinks it is "fabulous", you have not had real Chinese food as most Chinese restaurant menus are tailored for the American pallet. Good Luck. read more

Me and my mom go here once in awhile and it never fails to satisfy. Be warned, portions are pretty big (the egg roll is the size of my hand, it's BIG) so you will probably need two people at minimum. Tried a few things on their menu and loved them all. Only place I have been to that lists thigh meat for chicken separate (it is the only one I choose because I want flavor) and their General Tso Chicken actually has heat (I have a HIGH spice tolerance; regular has Carolina Reaper sauce on food at home). Staff are very polite and we have seen the owners a few times. Inside is pretty calming, outside section is even better, but you need warmer weather for that. I absolutely love the place. read more

Boss lady was super friendly. It was a Monday after Mother's Day weekend, it wasn't busy and she pretty much showed us the whole place, and asked us where we like to sit. Used to go to Chen's often for the lunch Buffett years ago. Popped in with the family a few weeks ago. The kids loved the fish tanks and it kept them entertained through our meal. My family found Chen's when on the road back from North East Ohio. Chens has koi ponds outside and aquariums inside. The restaurant is dated in its decor, but you know you are in the right place when there is a line to be seated. The food is not cheap, but very well made. I ordered the Mongolian beef and it was incredible and among the best I have ever had. My husband ordered the beef hot pot, which he really enjoyed, but it wasn't true hot pot as a soup. We enjoyed the egg rolls and our daughters ordered the kids meals, one with the sesame chicken and the other with the chicken nuggets. The kids meals were on the pricier side, but the portion and quality of the food completely justified the cost. The service was excellent too. We will definitely plan to come back. read more

On road home to Md we Came with family 8 of us it was 8:40 as we walked into restaurant they told us we close at 9:30 they repeated it so many times when we sat down I questioned ok should we just leave ? They said order now all food will come out same time , ok as my husband wanted to stay n try it I did , to all our regrets lady taking orders was sweaty n rude n I mean slapping the menus togeather as she walked away I've actually never seen such behavior as I then got nervous about the food I just ordered wonton soup witch was okay but hubby said fried rice had no taste the egg rolls cold n dumplings forget it he said tasted like dish soap we did walk out at exactly 9:31 n wont be back so they don't ever have to worry again read more

Visited Chen's with a friend for lunch. We ordered the soup for two and an order of steamed dumplings. This meal was delicious and very reasonably priced. Parking was easy and available. The atmosphere is VERY friendly - great staff! Also visited a couple of weeks ago with my son for his birthday. He got the Thai pork and I got the Thai chicken - both were delicious. We've discovered a second great option for Asian food in Cranberry. Chen's is a low-key, casual spot for fantastic food. The hot pots are exactly that -- a bubbling bowl of meat, veggies, and flavorful sauce. They also have multiple eggplant dishes which is a win for us eggplant lovers. Parking was good, I enjoyed the look of the establishment. When asked about gluten free option's they said they could make anything gluten free but didn't explain they did that but eliminating the breading from items instead so finding a substitute - I could of asked more before ordering to figure that out but I know now to in the future. The food was good though unexpected when my orange chicken came out with the meat and no breading. the service was good and I hope to return in the future and try to order something different to get the full experience. read more

The place is lovely, BUT the $18 pork fried rice was tasteless. When I told the waitress that the onions were raw, she said they cooked their vegetables to be crisp. Wonder why the frozen peas & carrots were soggy?? Couldn't find much pork and the few (very few) pieces were miniature and tasteless. Rice was dry. Water glass had a big chip in the rim. I was never asked if I wanted anything else or even dessert and had to literally yell across the room to the single waitress to ask for my check so I could pay and leave! Never again, Mr. Chen. This place is a hidden gem! It is tucked behind a strip mall in Cranberry but looks like in the summer it could be an oasis. I found this place through Yelp, and it did not disappoint. The layout is wonderful, some really amazing fish, and the outdoor area looks wonderful...when it is a little warmer. We each ordered wonton soup and the biggest egg roll I have ever seen! Not real happy with our takeout order. We ordered shrimp with snow peas, chicken fried rice and chicken lo mein. We were charged for what we ordered but received chicken and snow peas. So nothing but chicken on the order. This has happened before. The only way to check is to completely open every box before leaving the restaurant, which might seem obnoxious. read more

I'm prefacing this review saying that I can't have MSG. It gives me massive migraines. So I'm extremely careful when looking for a new Chinese place. We've lived in Cranberry for almost 2 years and I've yet to find a decent Chinese place that doesn't put MSG in their food. I called Chen's and spoke to a very nice gentleman and asked if they use MSG and he said they do, but can remove it on request. I was so happy to hear it and ordered for take out. I ordered 2 egg rolls, 1 wonton soup, sweet & sour chicken, and szechuan beef all without MSG. The egg rolls were definitely huge, but we both found them very greasy. The overwhelming flavor of the grease overpowered any flavor the egg rolls themselves might have had. I probably won't order those again. The soup, however, was good, had nice flavor and the wontons were nice and big. The sweet & sour chicken had nice crisp veggies and pineapple pieces in it. The sauce was typical in flavor for many other sweet & sour items you'd get. The szechuan beef had really nice flavor and wasn't greasy at all. It had a nice sauce along with veggies mixed into the beef. They also provided a giant container of steamed rice which was plenty for us to have not only for the initial meal, but also the leftovers. And speaking of leftovers, there was so much food we had an entire other meal the next day. I read some reviewers complaining of price, but most restaurants have gone up in price in the last few years. If I'm ordering out or going to dine at a restaurant, I expect to pay at least $50 for a meal for 2. And most places are even more expensive than that. The pricing here is about standard for any sit down restaurant. If you're looking for the cheapest Chinese take out, this may not be your joint. But if you're more concerned with quality and quantity over price, then this place fits the "bill". All in all, I'd say this is a winner. Finding a place that can accommodate a No MSG request is a plus and the food had nice flavor. Ultimately, if you're looking for a Chinese restaurant or take out place in the Cranberry area, this will likely satisfy your craving. read more

I really enjoyed the food and the experience! My wife loved the General Tso's. My kids loved the fish in the tank and the pool with fish outside. When we asked the counter for some fish food they were more than happy to give it to my kids. The overall feel of the restaurant was very calm. The fish are also very funny. Great little place for Chinese food. Good atmosphere. For starters I had Egg Flower (Drop) soup and and the biggest Egg Roll I have ever had. Both served hot and fresh. Very good. If I had not had main course still coming I would have order another Egg Roll. That good. For my main course I had General Tso chicken with vegetable fried rice. Again both served hot and fresh. General Tso was not too spice but just a little kick. Meals are basically served family portions. I will be back when in town again. read more
