A hole in the wall Chinese place across from a truck stop off I-20 in West Georgia. Sometimes these kind of places are hidden gems and sometime not. This place, unfortunately was the latter. It's a small, kind of run down, family-owned restaurant. A number of nondescript tables and chairs with a counter where you order and the kitchen behind the counter slightly hidden by a clear plastic curtain from a walk-in cooler doorway. I ordered the Mu Shu Pork to go and hoped for the best. It was weird. The flavor somewhat reminded me of good Mu Shu but it fell considerably short. The dish consisted of primarily shredded cabbage and bamboo shoots with a reasonable amount of roasted pork that was inexplicably sliced into large slices making it difficult to eat. What was really unusual was the significant amount of liquid in the dish. I am used to Mu Shu being moist but not wet and runny. It was served with pre-made pancakes and the requisite Oyster sauce. I didn't use either of those as I thought the pancakes would fall apart with the liquid from the dish. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't particularly good either. If you are dying for Americanized Chinese food, it might suffice but otherwise skip it. read more

This fast food Chinese joint is delicious. I have no complaints. Reading the reviews may make you want to pass up this restaurant, but don't. I had ordered the Chicken Mien Fun, large Wonton Soup, and two egg rolls. Mien fun was cooked to standards, thin noodles with veggies. Wonton soup was delicious, the noodles were soft, not dried or hard from sitting out all day (like most places I've tried) and the broth was tasteful. Egg rolls were my favorite, they have a nice nutmeg taste to it which I really enjoy, and not greasy. I'm pretty picky about Chinese food, and now this is my go-to-spot. read more

Worst Chinese's I've ever had. Over $20 for 2 meals which is a bit overpriced , and the quality sucks . The "pork fried rice" is white rice with soy sauce and tastes undercooked. Food is cold, the chicken which was supposed to be spicy tastes like plain chicken with coloring on it. The egg rolls were good but so hot we couldn't eat it . Was excited because the truckstop across the street had no restaurant and Chinese is always a treat! Not this crap... sorry. Save your stomach and $$ read more

I don't know why this place has terrible reviews. It is decent & cheap Chinese food. For $6.25 the small Mongolian chicken was very flavorful and had a decent ratio of onions to chicken. Looked across the street and almost squealed with delight when I saw this Chinese restaurant. We had the General Tso chicken with fried rice, hot and spicy shrimp with white rice and the "Happy Ending" with white rice which was beef, chicken, crab-meat and shrimp with sauteed mushrooms. It was all so DELICIOUS. Fresh, smoking hot and with so much wonderful Asian flavor. The service was great (even though we had our food to-go) and we only ended up paying about 26$. Limited seating. Price for dinner for two "special" and two 24 oz bottles of Pepsi was $28. That being said...the food was very good and portions were huge. It was a dinner for two that could actually feed four. The beef was amazingly tender. So, for the price we ended up with plenty of leftovers which kinda averages out. Well I have had a lot better experiences than today at this place most of my meal was not editable due to not so fresh ingredients as seen in the picture I post. I recommend opening your container before you leave with your to go order. Plus was informed today all though all the lunch specials are 6 or under you cannot use a debit or credit card to pay unless you spend at least 7$. Fortune Star was one of the first restaurants I went to when I moved to Temple 3 years ago, and I go there about once a month or so to satisfy my craving for fast Chinese food. The place is not large or fancy but the food is good, fast, and hot. They are Chinese owners, so they know their food. I cannot always understand what they say, but they always understand me. They are courteous, fast, and efficient. I usually get the orange chicken which is yummy, although I do ask for mine not spicy. Egg rolls are nice and crispy and fresh. Chicken Fried rice or beef with broccoli are my other choices. You can get in combos, quarts, or pints. I recommend picking up a menu to keep on hand. Don't forget to pick up the soy sauce, napkins, and utensils if you need them. read more

Vegetable egg roll & pork egg rolls were slightly heavier from fryer than the above regular egg roll. (about a $1 ea) Ordered 2 main dish items : Beef & snow pees - flavor was very good and snow pees were crisp Mongolian chicken - very slight spice & sweetness to it as listed on menu was very good would order again. I thought pricing was very fair for the portions - which all include white or fried rice- about $9 for quart - 6 for pint Fried rice was just average nothing special. Been looking for a Chinese food option in west ga for a while . . . This one makes 3 that GPS pulls up within a 20mi area... This is only one with a 4 star rating in the area.
