Avoid Hawkeye Diesel in Dallas. Kyle was very kind when we first called, and we were told the technician was about 1.5 hours away from our driver's location. I followed up directly with the tech, and he confirmed the same ETA. Based on that timeframe, we agreed to move forward and paid the $145 service fee upfront. After waiting over 2 hours, we checked in again and were told the technician was still another hour away. At that point, it was clear the original ETA was nowhere close to accurate. Had we known it would take more than 3 hours for a simple roadside tire change, we would have called another service provider. What makes this even more frustrating is that Hawkeye Diesel had already collected payment before providing any service. When I called to cancel and move on, I was told the fee was non-refundable despite no work being performed. Meanwhile, the technician was still claiming to be an hour away. This isn't really about the $145--it's about honesty and professionalism. Hardworking truck drivers depend on accurate information when they're stranded on the side of the road. If the ETA had been communicated honestly from the beginning, we could have made an informed decision. Instead, it felt like they said whatever was necessary to secure payment upfront. Taking someone's money, failing to meet the promised timeline, and refusing a refund when no service has been rendered is not good business. Called at 4:59 pm because my ac quit working. I am a 61 year old woman that has health issues. They said it was $145 for the service call and another $149 to after that. They didn't explain that was $149 for ever hour it took them to get there (15 minutes away). Finally they show up at 7:40 pm. Found the issue, but couldn't fix it. Charged me another $550 for something they couldn't fix. Gave the a $100 in cash and they charged my card $103 for no repairs, just driving time. My husband had my 2004 Dodge sprinter van towed to Hawkeye Diesel Repair and after 2 or 3 weeks I asked my husband had he heard anything about the repair he said no. I thought it was odd to not hear back about an vehicle repair so I started calling. I called 2 or 3 times a week and finally got a response from Kyle the mechanic. and tells me something in the eletrical system is fried. I called him a week later he said he was trying to get the eletrical part from Mercedes. I called him a few weeks later he tells Mercedes no long has the eletrical part and they no longer make the part. I said okay I will have the vehicle towed back to my house. I asked what do I owe he tells me with labor and diagnostic $400.00. I paid the balance and got an invoice that only said in the complaints no start Cause Customer request. Description Chassis/Chassis/towed in diagnostic. I asked for itemize description of what Kyle the mechanic has found about the electrical issue and he keeps telling me he sent a new invoice. Scammer Alert. Worst Repair Shop ever. Kylie is a crook and thieve! I am owner and operator of a tow truck company. I took me truck to Hawkeye to get my truck serviced. Mt total bill was 5,129.43. 2 days later my truck was smoking and the engine was knocking. I took truck back to Hawkeye. The owner told me it's a new issue and sent me an invoice of $2,146.92. Due to the uncomfortable feeling I took my truck to another mechanic shop for another option. My truck was diagnosed and the new mechanic looked into the repairs that were completed. Once the truck was fully broken down, it was discovered the Hawkeye did not complete the work that I paid for. Additionally, Hawkeye put in a used part. We have photos evidence of the old part. Kylie knowingly misrepresented the problem charged me for unnecessary repairs, and refused to rectify the situation. Kylie got defensive and disrespectful not taking any accountability. My truck is still down and it is experiencing additional issue caused by Kyle not completing the repair. Timeline 12/4: dropped off truck 12/6: picked up truck total 5k 12/9: truck issues: took truck back to shop Was told new issue was unrelated to current issue cost additional 2k 12/10: consulted with 2 different mechanical shop. It was noted that the repair firm Hawkeye was not completed properly. 12/11: truck is still inoperative. New mechanic provided evidence of old parts placed into the truck and proof that work was not completed. New damage has occurred due to faulty repair. Kylie denied the parts were old and then stated the new mechanic had dirty hands. I didn't know dirty hands could make rust on metal. But I'm not a We will be taking this matter to Clive court. We were traveling from Galveston TX to Henrietta OK pulling a 5th wheel trailer. Just north of downtown Dallas our wheel bearings burned up. We called Hawkeye for mobile service as we could not move. Their tech came out and said we needed a new axel and said he would not be able to fix it till morning. Next day he came, put a new axel in and about 2:30 said we were good to go. We made it as far as Dennison about 50 miles and found we had a problem, wheel smoking and throwing grease. We called tech, he came out, repacked grease and said we were good to go. We made it as far as McKinney, about 5O miles, when tire came completely off, hit a car, causing us to have at fault on our insurance. Buy this time it was about 11:00 we called tech again. We unhooked trailer. My husband took me on home as I am 81 years old and we had Two great Pyrenees dogs in truck also. The next day they called us, said they had put a new axel in and we should be ok. My husband went to pick up the trailer, made it to Calara OK, another 50 miles, same problem, he checked and the lug nuts were on backwards and the spindle nut had no cotter pin it. Do you see a pattern here? Hawkeye is refusing to take responsibility, We still don't have it home and will have to pay some one else for repairs. I was broke down 5hrs from home in my motorhome and all I needed was them to hook up computer with Cummins Insite software and read codes and do a couple of test to help diagnose issue. We agreed to a price of $450 to 500 in time travel to and from. Mecanich showed up and did not have the proper cable to hook up Compter to engine and I specifically told them what motor I had. The mechanic put gas on a rag and covered the intake and try's to start it several time even though I have tried all that for days before. After no success he returns to shop to get the proper cable and returns to diagnose. The mechanic does not know how to use the software and using his phone to screen shot it to another mechanic to tell him what to do. Needless to say they billed my credit card for over $800 and all they could do was read the code ! Worst mechanic service I have ever received and nothing but a RIP OFF ! WARNING STAY AWAY! I live less than 1/2 mile from this business and wanted to try them out. I have a 1995 first generation 7.3 diesel that started to run rough last week. It was still drivable but I wanted to get it checked out. I scheduled an appointment on Friday for Saturday morning at 0800. I drop the keys off with one of the mechanics and it went downhill from there. They did not look at my truck until around 1 o'clock. When I went back to check on it the mechanic left the keys in ignition to the on position. I mentioned something to the shop supervisor, Mike, and he assured me that everything would go well. They already had two hours and they still couldn't figure out what was going on with that engine. I gave them permission to proceed because I couldn't imagine it would take him much longer to figure out the problem. They said they were open on Sunday and would find out the problem. I drove by and they were closed on Sunday. They never contacted me on Monday so I called them up and the person that answered the phone wasn't even at the shop. She said that she would call the shop and give me an update. Over an hour later a SALESPERSON called me up and said he had an update on my truck. It took them 5.5 hours to diagnose POSSIBLY an injector was bad. Their suggestion was to get the injector tested $100 and it was a good idea to check all the injectors tested at $100 apiece. If any injectors were bad they would charge around $1000 to replace each injector. I spoke with the co-owner who told me he knew nothing about engines or mechanics. They charged me $675 to POSSIBLY diagnose the problem. I took my truck to acme garage and they diagnosed the issue that day after I drop the truck off at 11 o'clock in the afternoon for $85. I almost forgot Forward Diesel diagnosis was wrong. Acme garage states one injector was bad On the opposite bank that Forward diesel stated. Unbelievable! After requesting a transmission drain, new gasket replacement and refill of transmission fluid I was charged over $2000.00! I requested estimates and received only approximate cost/charges but nothing in writing. Unfortunately I was stuck with a leaking transmission and the Covid-19 pandemic going on so I trusted this shop to be fair and do a good job. What I got was overcharged and taken advantage of! I personally spoke to the owner regarding the charges and my dissatisfaction with the whole job and was told "we have to make money". Their website says "Customer satisfaction is our #1 priority!" I call bullshit. Read the other reviews on this company, it seems that while they used to provide stellar service at fair prices, that all went out the window sometime late last year (2019). Coach Net sent them out on a breakdown and I was told upfront that my part would be $100.00 per hour plus parts. When the ticket finally came up about 1 hour after the repair the labor rate had gone up to $175.00 per hour but the ticket actually said $150.00 per hour. The job took exactly one hour but they charged for one and a half hours or $225.00. That figure should have been $100.00. Now to the parts as it took a air drier that cost $35.00 at NAPA where they purchased it but they charged me $94.88 for the part. Next comes shop supplies that they charged $65.89 for and as I could see that included a fifty cent pair of Nitrile gloves and shop towel at another fifty cents. Again it took just short of one hour for them to come up with a bill where I could be on my way. I guess it took that long to figure out how to screw someone. The Tech who performed the job was fine-----too bad he has to work for flakes. For those who don't know a air dried for air brakes and suspension is easier to replace that a oil filter as there is no mess. read more
