Very poor service from seller's point of view. The place is so cluttered and disorganized that it is clear your item is unlikely to be seen and prices are lower than most consignment shops. Our experience was extremely frustrating. After hearing multiple admonitions about picking up my item after the 45 day consignment period was up,I returned on the 46th day to retrieve it. The person working had no clue how to find my item and seemed overwhelmed by my request. After searching the shop for about 30 minutes and not finding my item, the owner arrived and said "let's see if it was sold". She looked on the computer and discovered it had been sold a month ago. (Why the employee could not have done such a search when I arrived was never explained.). The owner then explained that items were "settled" on the 10th of the month following the sale. So, they have known the item was sold (and my money) for many days but could not bother to call or email me to save me a trip. read more

Great little shop! Inventory changes so if you are looking at an item let the staff know. I have consigned items recently and they are upfront with pricing and their consignment process. Service is great staff are helpful. Sometimes things don't sell and consignment ends, so you need to get them before somebody does. And they have lots of items and accessories! read more

I will never do business here again. After dropping of a chair for consignment the chair sold within a few weeks. That was over 6months ago and I have yet to be paid even after several calls and a visit to the store. In my opinion these people are thieves... stay away! read more

Very poor communication among the staff and with the client. Items sold for less than communicated. The cut to the Consigner is much lower than other Consignment stores in the area. Closed on Sundays which is probably the best day to unload those goods. read more

I have always been satisfied with the items and furniture I've purchased here over the past 20 years. I find the staff to be very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I've even consigned a few things here that I no longer needed and feel like I'm doing a good thing by passing on items that can be useful for others, extending their lifecycle. There is always something interesting here and there is a nice, relaxed and professional atmosphere at Foryu. Wow. Super rude. I called to inquire if they were open and if so what hours, as things are a bit uncertain during covid. My one and only question upon them picking up the phone: "Hi. I was curious if you're open this evening?" Her response verbatim: "We are walking out the door at 6 pm. WALKING out the door." I've been shopping at Foryu for years. Many of my most favorite things in my home are from Foryu. When I see something I like, I can buy it because their prices are so reasonable that I don't have to budget for the purchase. A review should address 100% of the store's qualities: product, selection, customer service, integrity, etc. I'm a regular and I'll confirm this is a 5 star establishment in every way. It's disheartening to see a person that recently rated this awesome company a star because one phone conversation. People, if you are that sensitive, don't interact with society. I have no doubt that no company could live up to the standard of the day to day work and expense of running a business, managing staff, delivering and picking up merchandise and have 100% of all conversations be acceptable to 100% of the population. read more

This store is like the "Half Price Books" store for furniture. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Places like Half Price Books and Foryu Furnishings definitely have a place in our busy society, and they fulfill a function much needed by busy folks who may be moving or need some extra pocket change. Just don't expect to bring expensive, high-end furniture here and get anything remotely near the price it's worth. You may bring in an exorbitantly priced art coffeetable book in new condition to Half Price and they offer you $5 for it. Likewise, you may bring in a designer brand sideboard to Foryu, complete with providence, in pristine condition, and be offered, at most, 1/3 what it could sell for elsewhere. The kicker is, you still have to pay to get the piece there to the store, and every week the piece doesn't sell, the store lowers the asking price for it. And you get 40% of the selling price. So.... is it worth it? It depends. When I recently went in to the store to price some Ethan Allen barstools and a buffet, I spoke at length with Scott. Now Scott has been working here a long time and he is incredibly knowledgeable and amazingly nice. I SO appreciated how he was honest and direct and very upfront about the whole process of selling furniture here at the store. I really respect people who are upfront and clear about details (so THANK YOU, Scott!). When he told me what prices the store would initially ask for, for my pieces, I was shocked. I knew they wouldn't price them high, but I was shocked by how low they'd ask for the barstools specifically. And the buffet's asking price, although on the low side, would have been reasonable IF I didn't have to pay to get the piece to the store and IF I wouldn't only get 40% of the selling price. For me, it was not worth it. I decided, I'd rather give these perfect, like new, designer pieces either free to friends who needed them and appreciated them, or to Goodwill who would pick them up for free and we could get a tax write-off for them. That said, if one has more portable pieces to bring to the store and wishes to get a little pocket money for them without the hassle of selling them themselves, this store may fit the bill. read more

I was absolutely ignored in here. I couldn't get anyone to take my dollars. Ignored. Completely. I had seen a piece through the window but didn't have the time to go check it out that day so I went back in a few days later ready to BUY it - there were two workers there talking to themselves & moving around the store, but neither said a single word to me. Love it! Hiromi, the owner is very friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with from both sides of the transaction, seller and buyer. They will arrange pick-up/drop off of items from/to your home. I sell all my gently used furniture there and have been very happy to buy a piece or two from them as well. They have an excellent software/accounting program and will often keep slow selling items longer than they say in the contract to keep the floor well stocked and give you ever opportunity to sell the items you have in their stock. My dining room table came from there and will go back there to be resold a third time when we leave this house - Wooo Hooo! Really a great shop. read more

This will be my last time consigning here. They do have very nice things if you are buying but as a seller you're better off doing it yourself online - even if it takes a little longer. I sold 2 lovely, high end club chairs that retailed for just over $2K/each - they were in mint condition. My final check from Foryu --- $44. That's forty-four dollars and 0 cents after they'd originally priced them at $899 each. As another reviewer stated - you decide. I depended on them to know their market and price these accordingly so they could sell them quickly. Instead they sat there and only lowered the price after I emailed to check in --- which caused them to go way into the period where they reduce the seller's percentage to 30%. Then there's the fee for moving them from my home to the store - they quoted $125 and I was charged $135. A complete waste of time - could have donated them to a good charity and at least have walked away feeling good instead of ripped off. read more

Foryu is our favorite consignment store. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and the merchandise is excellent and often includes some quite unusual/beautiful pieces. We have made many purchases and also sold quite a few items, often for more than we could have gotten on CL and with far less effort. Do not sell your items here unless you plan to donate them or simply do not care to get paid for your items. I consigned two art pieces in May, and stopped by the store today to inquire about the items. I was told that 1 item was sold in May (however I was never contacted or sent a check) but they did pay me $17 in cash upfront today. They will pay you if you go in and ask for it. The other consigned item was suppose to sell for $150 and I was told that item was donated after 60 days because I did not come to pick it up. Again, no email reminder to let me know. It is stated in the consignment form that items not picked up after 60 days will be donated, so my mistake for not reading the agreement. Sell your items here only if you can keep track of them and just remember that you need to keep track of everything you leave there or else they will be donated! I personally did not have a good experience and just wanted to share with others. To the owner: you need a better/smarter database system to help you and your consignors have a better experience. A courtesy email that "hey we have a check for you or hey we are about to donate your items!" would make for a better overall experience. read more

Foryu is our favorite consignment store. We have purchased many items over the last 5 years. The selection is excellent with no junk. Styles range from traditional and transitional to contemporary, with occasional antiques and lovely Asian pieces. We have also sold items and received more than we could have selling them ourselves, due to the beautiful store environment and high volume of customers. The details of consigning items are spelled out clearly up front so we know what our return will be if an item sells at a certain price--then we can decide whether or not to consign. People who are surprised at what they make on an item may not have taken the time to figure that our in advance. My Experience has been twice deceived, now twice shy. I purchased expensive planter pots 3 years ago. About a year later, I reconsigned them at a Seattle Used/Consignment Furniture store, Seattle. the owner explained, kindly to me that i had "been had with deceptive information, and i had paid too much." She explained the reasons, and gave me a "guided tour" of her assessment. Now wise, I was looking for a Torchiere Lamp, and Foryu Furnishings had a mid century Stiffel Lamp with a white milk glass shade, lotus leaf lily pad base in their on-line catalog. I stopped by and saw it - 3 inch chip on the shade. Inquired if the price could be lowered, and was told no. So i waited patiently and did my homework to be sure I understood what I was buying. I did purchase by phone. for a discounted price after it had been there for more than 4 months. When I went to pick it up, I asked to see the Stiffel marking - the original has STIFFEL tag on bottom - there was none - neither on the base or in the bulb base; the shade appeared different that the replacement original Stiffel shades available. The lamp was not very heavy - a hallmark of Stiffel. I was told that the person helping me had not entered it in the catalog, and that she had bought one "just like it" several months ago, as had the other man working there. I said it was not a Stiffel, and suggested they further lower the price. i was told the Accountant did not this when the purchase occurred in the previous month (August); and I was asking for an adjustment in September. I declined, and was offered a store credit of $10.00. The situation was discussed with the other salesman; and he rudely insisted I accept the refund. Everyone, always stating that there was no deception intended, and they were not responsible for the listing placed by another Sales Associate. The standard and sales approach has changed since Foryu was established and owners have changed. i shall not be returning; and caution those shopping to be sure they are receiving a fair value, and the item is what is described. read more
