Matthew was very accommodating in meeting with the neighbors to assure them there would be minimal impact/disruption to their properties. There was a mixup in the lift provided and they needed a bigger lift. Matthew assured me it would be fixed at no additional costs to us. Thank you Matthew. Justus, Loa, Kaipo and Karl, were on site early to start on the project. Once the machinery issues with the lift were solved, they had the project done in a couple of hours. Took me up close to inspect the work and fixed another spot that was bothering me. So good to have this done. We had foundation work done in 2022 by Foundations Systems Hawaii, and paid tens of thousands of dollars for it. We were assured via an email that once the work was completed that the house was secure. Three years later, while having some renovations done, we learned the house's foundation was not stable. We since have had three different professional consultations, and also solicited an independent geotechnical report. All were in agreement that the work done in 2022 was clearly substandard. We have also learned that the work done possibly caused structural damage, though this is not confirmable as we did not receive any documentation from Foundation Systems Hawaii for the work done. read more

A huge thank you to Wayne, Tony, and Courtney for doing a beautiful job on a 75 year old retaining wall that was crumbling to bits. 5-6 cars or trucks routinely park on top of this wall and all that weight is too much for an old wall. Rather than risk getting sued, I called Foundation Systems. After years......decades.....of the house shifting, door not closing properly, tiles cracking.....we had our foundation checked out by Foundation Systems Hawaii. Wade was totally on it......super friendly and thorough......surveyed our house/property.....took pictures and measurements.....and came up with a reasonable proposal to fix.......level our house! Our house sank almost 4 inches in one corner. It was going to be a 2 day job and becuase of the holidays, we scheduled about a month out. During that month wait, a couple of slots opened up and they were so kind to ask if we wanted to move up the job. Because we had out of town guests.....and the holidays.....we kept our original schedule. Day of the job, Wade showed up in the morning......retook measurements and met with his team doing the job. Daniel's crew did the job and they were awesome. Some pretty huge guys and they were under the house in the dirt and whatever junk was under there....no complaints and just trying to do the job right. Appreciated that they constantly asking us to check doors, windows, interior cracks,.....any issues......and constantly retook readings inside the house and calibrating their jacks to make sure the house was level. It was exhausting for them and us....but in hindsight that's what you want.....someone caring about your house and making sure things are not rushed and done properly. I think we realized now that when we bought the house.....we should have brought people in to level the house back then before it sank even more. I think the previous owners did renovation on a crooked house so when the house got leveled.....some things look off. Would highly recommend Foundation Systems and especially Daniel's crew! We live on a hill and the cement block wall on the high side of our property developed a gaping crack and I didn't know who I could call to repair it. So thank you, Foundation Systems, for mailing out your flyer. I had it sitting on the kitchen counter for a few days and our son saw it in passing and commented, "I've worked with them. They're good." (game show lights immediately went off) I called for an estimate. George Smith came to inspect and he not only saw the deep "V" crack but he also noted that the wall, which ran the length of our lot, was beginning to tilt. "Hmmm," I said pondering the possibilities. "Maybe I can become a trendsetter!" Needless to say, this was not the first tilted block wall that had crossed George's path. He offered a solution. This solution assured us that our wall's life would eclipse ours. The ball began rolling, supplies were ordered and a date set. Foundation Systems just finished our home! From start to finish they were amazing!!!! I called several places to get estimates. Wade was super helpful and came out quickly. A few days later he sent me our estimate. We did our homework and looked at Yelp reviews and BBB. All great reviews and in excellent standing! The day of our job-Wade came at the start to introduce us to the crew that would be working on our home. To include the foreman, Casey(spelling?). He was our go to person throughout the process. Foundation Systems Hawaii did a stellar job on re-levelling our home. Wade made the initial visit to provide an estimate. We were a bit surprised that the work would take only two days, but that's exactly how long it took. During the project, the crew showed up exactly on time and communicated any concerns they had. Some parts of our home had to be brought up almost 6 inches, and some additional plumbing work was needed. We also have an outdoor staircase that needs to be replaced after the re-levelling, and they worked around that. Tim Mort was onsite the first day and was very pleasant to talk to. When the project was done, the crew made sure that all our cabinets and doors would open and close. One door would not close even with adjustments, so Wade came by the next day to sand it down. The crew cleaned up nicely and put things back as they had been before the project started. Casey asked me to walk around the house to make sure I was happy with everything. Be very careful about this company if you live an a residence that is managed by an HOA and management agency! They will send a rep out to view your damages, take photos and then send you an outrageous quote, and if you don't go with their quote, they will secretly inform the association management agency, which they also work with a great deal, of your damages without your knowledge. We had inquired around and every other contractors said we would have to cut holes in our living in order to install the micropiles because there was not enough space to work. Daniel and his crew went the extra mile to crawl under the house, clear out enough clearance for the equipment, and install the micropiles. They kept us informed on the status of the project and met the timeline agreed upon. Digging, chipping, drilling, and pouring concrete was a major project, but they worked hard to minimize the disturbances for us and our neighbors. As the saying goes, we loved how Foundation Systems Hawai'i did our Kaimuki house (replacing 10 hollow tile columns used to support our second story deck about 10 months ago) so much that we hired them again to do some work on our Hawai'i Kai/Kalama Valley house. For our Hawai'i Kai/Kalama Valley house, we feared that it might have serious foundation problems such as possible settling and cracking. After Tim came out and thoroughly inspected the exterior and interior of the house, we received the happy news that the foundation of the house itself appeared sound but that several exterior perimeter walls had spalling extensive enough to require repair. We were so thankful Tim does recommendations based on what he would do if the conditions were in his house. Hence, he doesn't try to create more work, and a higher cost, than is consistent with his professional opinion of the specific situation. Within a day or two of his inspection, he sent to us a proposal that covered everything required (demolition, construction, finishing, and painting) to repair the spalling. This even included his agreeing to speak with one of the owners of an adjacent property to let them know of the proposed work. I should note here that, as before, he provides fixed cost proposals. This means the price does not change once work begins, as is often the case in the very common time and materials estimates. In the past, we have had work done by others under a time and materials estimate that skyrocketed in costs. With Tim, we have the peace-of-mind that the price agreed upon is the price we will pay. Having agreed to the proposal, work began about one week later and was completed in a little over six days. This was a little longer than was expected due to conditions in the wall being worse than thought but the price, of course, did not increase. During the work, his employees were always courteous and completely and competently answered all our questions. Tim also visited the worksite several times to personally check on things and to ensure everything was being done to his high standards. And at the end of each day, the workers cleaned up the work areas before leaving. In the end, our exterior walls look as good as new and are actually stronger than originally built. Now, we wish Foundation Systems did kitchens and bathrooms renovations too because that's our next task! read more

On 11/4/20, their estimator came out to look at my sagging concrete patio. He said he'll email me an estimate. As of today (12/29/20), I still haven't received the estimate. I called a while back and he said he hasn't forgotten. I texted him on Nov. 23 & 25 for the status of my estimate, but he didn't respond. Update: I finally received my estimate on 1/15/21 which was beyond my budget but at least the estimator was very apologetic at letting this slip through the cracks. On 1/18/21, the owner of the company called me to also apologize and said they have made procedural changes so that this doesn't happen again. He gave me his honest recommendation as to my patio and I appreciate his promptness in rectifying the situation to make this into a positive experience.
